He could have been only hitting the bags all this time with no real fight and he would have progressed. It ain't sayin much, when it comes down to organizing fights/exhibition matches, the record matters and so does who you fought. There is little respect in winning against retirees and it only makes your record look worse when your loss is to a current age boxer who isn't retired and isn't over the age of 40. It makes you look like a punk.
