Just refused a Notary, the Principal has stage four cancer and goes in and out. The Agent is in Montana and the Social Worker would call, and not get back to me, then would call, and say can we get his POA Notarized. I would ask if he could answer simple question, and her reply was "I am not God" I asked again and she said she would get back to by the end of the business day. She never got back to me. I refused to do this Notary.Thank you so much for your information. I have documented all her phone calls and all her back and forth. There was something not right.
Though I am not a resident of Texas, I hope the residents, especially notaries, appreciate the department commitment to education in this regard. Being from a state that does the minimum (and I do mean minimum) I am thoroughly enjoying these videos.
This isn't my first time hearing Michael Closen speak. I attended the 2017 NNA Notary Conference and sat in on one of his workshops. I believe he's written some white papers or articles as well. I learn so much from Mr. Closen. Good choice, Texas SOS for inviting him to be part of your 2017 training seminar. Bravo!
Is there a sample disclaimer a notary can use to protect them against the signer's franchise acts? Also, what various case laws one can read on notarial acts?
