I was almost pre order the skydio drone. I accidently found out about the Autel Evo II drone and watched a few Autel Evo II videos and your. What I like about the Autel Evo II is that there is no geo taging and all other goodies. Got the wallet out and ordered Autel Evo II with 2 battery combo. This is my first and expensive one. I can't wait and learn how to fly.
Absolutely great review actually glad this review was longer than the usual. I’m liking the longer in depth reviews. Looking forward to more reviews but especially the FPV tutorials!
Precision landing was shown in this video. Active track through obstacles will come in a future video (spoiler alert.. the EVO II is pretty good at it).

Dear Captain, your reviews are every time very nice and professional , I 'm writing from Italy and I don't know really in Canada which is the price of this Evo II but in comparison with for example DJI Mavic zoom/pro just a best camera with 8K/6K course , 7/8 minutes more of flight time but more expensive for hundreds €/US dollars/Canadian dollars ,it's just released but it no have on board the ADS-B receiver it's really difficult to understand the advantages (here in Italy you could buy a Mavic 2 zoom for 1100 € .....thanks so much in any case for this reviews Good Work 👍 p.s. personally I'm not a fun of DJI and I'm looking a really very nice drone as alternative, but with this EVO II is really hard to find the best advantages .
Is this the Autel Evo ii with the 8K Camera which although it says it records 8K videos its only at 25 fps. Or this the Professional 6K Camera which is the only one to have the 1-inch 20 MP sensor capable of shooting 5.5K video at 60 fps and 4K video at 120 fps? Quite a difference in price to.
Sorry Steve unrelated to this video. It works the yuneec googles work now with any drone. By using wifi adaptor and HDMI thingy lol. And using the miraSceen on your phone. ( my hardware just got delivered today ) sooooo now my mantis q can be used with the yuneec googles and mavic mini. Another great day.
YOU ALWAYS SPEAK THE TRUTH AND EXCELLENT DISPLAY. THANK YOU. I WANT TO SAY MY NEW AUTEL 8K DRONE HAD A ISSUE WITH THE DRONE CONTROL MAKING A BAD FAN NOISE. A GRINDING RUBBING SOUND. ALL THE OTHER DRONE AND PARTS ARE GREAT. MY CONTROLLER WAS NOISEY I SENT THE COMPLETE KIT BACK TO AMAZON UNDER WARRANTY. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS CONTROLLER NOISE? NOT TALKING ABOUT THE CONTROL FAN SOUND WHICH IS NORMAL. NOTHING WAS LOOSE INSIDE. THIS WAS A PROBLEM FROM THE FIRST. THANK YOU.
I owned the Autel Evo II Pro for two weeks before it crashed on its own catastrophically. I am a seasoned pilot with at least 50 hours flying time with DJI drones and about 4-5 with this particular drone. From the beginning the drone didn’t live up to a single standard that the company claims. The 45mph speed is (in my experience under multiple calm conditions) unachievable. The 9km distance they tout, is absolutely false…the best I ever did under optimum conditions in an open field without obstacles was about 4,500-5,000 feet (1.5km). The drone is relatively unstable in flying, I read one comment from a very prominent drone pilot that states it flies like a brick…it does. As much as I don’t like DJI’s practices and money-grubbing, their drones are the best. After my drone disconnected at less than 2,000 feet in a loosely dense urban area with no buildings exceeding 15 floors or so, it proceeded to return to home and fly directly into a building. I have video from the incident as well as a screen shot before it crashed showing the ambient light was quite sufficient. The ambient light in (this downtown) was sufficient enough to see a building several blocks away in the background and recognize exactly which one it was. DO NOT buy their drones, do some research, and despite their claims none of them are remotely true. The battery that came with the drone along with the additional one I purchased are rated at 40 minutes flight time. I understand this is under optimal conditions, but never did either come close to that figure. Each time they were fully charged with less than five charge cycles on them they showed on the app at approximately 33-34 minutes flight time and underperformed each time with less than 2-4mph winds and flying under 22mph. If you want my full review along with conversations with the company, their dodging, and their vague explanations please DM me.
I might get one of these shipped to the uk as i am sick of dji screwing the transmission power down (CE Mode).Dji used to have a switch on the old phantom 2 which switched between fcc mode and ce mode but MP2 stuck with low power transmission .
4:08 Oh my god look how stable it is. You can tell by looking at something at the edge of the frame and see if it moves. I think its more stable then a DJI Mavic Pro for example
I've been watching this drone for some time now but hadn't decided. Cap'N, your video makes me that much closer to picking one of these up. Thanks for the more insightful benefits to having this drone. Most impressive this is.
Of course it will! There is a reason it costs less the $500 because it was designed to be light, and to be light, it has next to no sensors or options.
On the fence about getting the new Mavic mini or original Mavic air. Love the air but worried about future support considering it’s now discontinued. Do I get the new new or chance it
@@lugnut1981 Both are fine (new or refurbished). Also if you can get a Mavic Air for the same price as the Mavic Mini, go with the AIR. The Mini is great, but since it lacks so many features it is designed more for people who just need a drone under 250 grams.
Thanks for the great video, I almost hit buy! But I already have the M2 Pro and M2 Zoom and the P4V2 with the Mavic Air 2 on the way. I fly for fun so @ $1799 I can't see the EVO2 fitting in cuz I'm thinking how much more will it do then my M2's? Plus I had issues with the EVO1 and I know this should be a better drone but $1799mmm

All drones can fly in wind that is blowing at a speed that is less than the forward speed of the drone. I've been doing this for so many years that I can fly in any wind. Beginners on the other hand should only fly in mild wind (the kind that causes a flag to lightly move in the wind).
Better question is why did not he use the cable wrap that was already on the cable? Clearly visible starting at 1:06. By the way, informative video Cap'n.
scooter , Quads can change so much in a year that you are going to buy another one in a week/month whereas the scooter should last you much longer. If it wasnt for the archaic laws here i would have one too. As for the Quad ( drones carry weapons) it looks pretty nice and the EIS/stabilization works but 24fps is just vile and 24fps@8K makes me want to puke, but other than that it looks sweet.

Hey Captain Drone! Is there an indicator on the controller that tells the pilot what direction the drone is facing (when up in the air) in relationship to the location of the pilot? Thanks.
CAPTAIN DRONE thank you for the quick reply. This is important to me as I’ve found with the ZLRC 906 Beast Pro I lose direction orientation when the drone is far away from me (still within line of sight).
Hi Steve I love your videos and also the Evo because the App is user friendly, the bottom bar with camera settings is great and easy to use and the best is "No Restrictions" As you waiting for the V-Copter this month. For now I won't upgrade my Evo 1 because I think the Evo 2 is over priced. Again I really enjoy your unique reviews
Hi Steve, I was looking at your reviews over a year ago and I think you did were great and detailed with AUTEL EVO 2 drone. THE BEST VIDEO DRONE REVIEW I have ever seen! Wow this drone is the best have ever seen too, your review was superb I don't think DJI is able to make a drone like this and at this price they cost at least twice as much! Bye Bye at your next review GREAT JOB STEVE!
Very thorough and well done review, Cap'n. I really wish Autel would program at least some of the new flight modes into the original EVO, but it's looking like they've just forgotten about all original EVO users like they forgot about their X Star users. This is a beautiful drone, though, no question. You reviews are the best out there so thank you.
DJI does the same thing after a model has been out for a year and a new drone comes out... that one year old drone no longer gets too many firmware updates or attention.
Ok so I left a comment this morning on your skydio video and was the one that asked of you did the firmware update..Thanks for getting back to me. I had said I was torn between the mavic air 2 or the mavic pro 2 and now I have moved off to wanted the heck out of this particular drone. I have done lots of homework and wanting some things that skydio has to offer when riding bicycles with my 5 year old boy and doing other outdoor activities. When he isn't with me I will want to do some more freestyle flying and getting really good views from a nice height and distance for sunsets and sunrises and such. Im not as impressed with the mavic 2 pro as i am with this one here. Autel evo has such a nice controller and very much detail in the manufacturing process. And does the remote really have a cooling fan inside? Very cool drone and I am about to buy this one for sure. If i still want it in about 2 days I am going to order one. Great reviews as always brother
The controller does have a built in fan. The EVO is popular with people who wish to fly in areas where a DJI drone would not let you take off due to the DJI No Fly Zones.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thanks for reply. I am getting ready to purchase this drone and im wondering if the 8k camera might be overkill for me so I believe I'm set on the 6k camera and 1 inch sensor. I was drawn to the skydio 2 because of the obstacle avoidance but didn't like the remote setup that is like the parrot anafi. Really close together and no telemetry screen. I wanted the mavic air 2 for the price but I want a bigger drone than that one. I want long range ALOT! Not to fly out of line of sight and miles away but to be sure I have solid radio transmission up to a mile or so. I also would like to not worry about loosing connection in urban/city ares and residential areas and such. I want to have a better fpv signal that doesn't glich out after 300 or so feet like the jjrc x6 i have. That jjrc x6 by the way shipped in a nice storage case and had an upgraded 4k camera on it. Having it for about a month and I'm hooked on consumer drones now. All thanks to your channel mainly and a few other guys on youtube like dustin dunhill from Hawaii and a few others I don't know off hand but see often. I go to your reviews first find them very informative. Where could I order the autel evo 2 pro 6k with a fly more type combo that would ship fast. I was thinking geekbuy or drone works but not sure. A suggestion would be very helpful. Thanks Captain.
How they gonna compete with dji if they gonna have the same price , so ofcourse im gonna go with the more popular for the same price , but if Autel would of lower that price a bit , i probably would have think about i and buy the autel 2. Its a great drone no doubt about that, but i feel more safe with dji with that price over my head. Its just my opinion. Great video captian.
They compete by making a better product at the same price, the evo 2 is absolutely insane once you get into all the nitty gritty. It's not better for "everyone" but for people that need to use it commercially for example, it's unreal. The battery life is far longer and the range is far longer, obstacle avoidance is also better. If they have some sort of software like DJI's mapping software, it will far exceed DJI imo. This will be my next drone for sure.
My Evo 2 is on its way and I can't wait for it to arrive. Since making the decision to buy it over all the other drones, I've continued researching all info I can get which brought me to this video. I've held a Private Pilot Certificate for decades and was astonished to hear the man who calls himself "Captain Drone", tell potential Evo 2 drone pilots that because the Evo 2 has "zero no-fly zones", it can be flown anywhere without a problem. I beg to differ! When landing an aircraft at an airport while on final approach, depending on the size/weight of the plane, landing airspeed could be anywhere from 60 on up to 120 mph plus, and hitting an object/drone 2 lbs and above would easily crash through the plane's windshield killing the pilot and possibly everyone else on board. Because of the way the Captain Drone person expressed himself during that ludicrous statement, I can't help but think he has been encouraged (possibly monetarily incentivized by Autel) to insinuate something as irresponsible as flying the Evo 2 "anywhere without a problem" including flying within a 5-mile radius of a controlled airport thus having zero concern for the safety of others. CAPTAIN DRONE SHOULD FACE RETRIBUTION FOR SPREADING SUCH A FALSE AND DANGEROUS MESSAGE.
Dear misguided Steve... For those new to the world of drones (such as yourself), confusion exists as in your mind. For everyone else watching who is knowledgeable in the drone world, they fully understood my comment as well as Autel, since the BIGGEST competition is DJI. AUTEL has a ZERO no fly zone software for the pilot for a reason that you have yet to comprehend... but you soon will. Perhaps you should speak to your local Firefighter or Search and Rescue individual who uses a drone in their everyday job and picked AUTEL for this very reason.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I'm going to guess that the majority of people contemplating a drone purchase or who, like myself, have recently purchased a drone but are not Firefighters nor Search and Rescue people; just people relying on those of you who are drone flying experienced and who want to convey practical and (more importantly) safe flying information. The words you used were: It has zero no-fly zones so it can be flown anywhere with no problem. Because there was no further explanation, at this point, I'm going to have to say that every person without drone experience who buys and flys their new Evo-2 ending in a possibly fatal mishap because of CAPTAIN DRONE leading them to believe that they were free to fly anywhere with no problem will be wanting to drag CAPTAIN DRONE into a life-changing lawsuit. Then CAPTAIN DRONE will be forced into hoping the CCP will take pity on the poor captain and will take him under their protective wing. FAT CHANCE OF THAT HAPPENING!! You should quickly find a way to issue a retraction and an apology. Don't let your ego get involved, just do the right thing.
I would love to put my hands on that beast. This review made me want to buy the Evo 2. By the time I can afford it , Autel will have released the Evo 10 probably. Lol . Thanks for the vid cap.
I like your reviews more than all the other popular drone reviewers. I think it because of your character and your easy going and relaxed. So..I am sold on this drone but not sure if I need the 8k camera. I like the pro i think it is with the 1" camera sensor. How long would it take to ship one to the PA. Area from the drone store you mentioned?
I looking for to own one Evo , since I start drone in my hobby, all was DJi, .. now I'm view all Evo video cuz I'm thinking get Evo for first time... thank you Mr Captain drone... 👍
I'm pretty sure it's only a 1/2" sensor though. I personally don't care about 8k or whatever if the sensor isn't big enough to handle it. Same with the Mavic Air 2. They just take "fake" 48mp photos. At 700 dollars more than the Mavic Air 2, all you get are omnidirectional sensors. For the same price, you can get a Mavic 2 Pro which has a 1" sensor, which has better low light performance than this thing or the Mavic Air 2 with their 1/2" sensor. TO get the same 1" sensor on the Evo line, you need to pay 1800. No thanks. Also, the Autel is much larger than the two drones in the way that the legs don't fold in as well.
I've been watching this drone since its release as soon work resumes it will be my first high end purchase really enjoyed your review only helped with my decision
Wow...Really nice. Very practical, great to see features that do something fun. How about that precise landing too! Thank you for the Autel Evo II review Captain Drone!
For just about the same price for the air 2. I can buy the original evo bundle. Complete with three batteries hard case. Extra props. But should I be concerned that autel will abandon it. Like stop making updates and batteries. Like Dji does. You know the drill.
Another good review Steve. I like the parallel feature and the side view gimbal action. I worry about the pricing of all these new drones though. I bought the Mavic Mini flymore combo. I’m still trying to get comfortable with it when I can’t here it in flight. I live in a rural area, basically fields and fence rows with small bush lots 50 acres or so in size. Price of Mini was under $800.00 all in, I’d be pushing 2 grand with those larger drones. I know there’s more and better features, I really can’t justify the extra cost. Also, license is required and I don’t want to give government more money. Drivers license, boating license, dog license and then permits for this and that..I enjoy your channel and appreciate the time and your effort spent making these videos. Keep it up !

Captain drone has gone and done it again! Thanks! Also loved your Amazon warehouse video! If you haven’t seen it it is a must watch!!! Stay epic!
Awesome thank you!
Really a superb drone, with a huge price tag, especially for us Canadians.
Great review, thanks Steve.
I just got this drone and am having a problem. I keep setting it for 4k 60fps but the files on the SD are only showing up as 720p. Any thoughts
Silly question.... but where exactly are you finding files that are 720p?
Thanks Steve great in-depth review of this drone some great interfaces to use.
DJI as some competition.
Interesting location to film...walking in that stuff, whatever it is?
That would be a type of wild grass. Once plenty of rain and hot weather returns it stand straight up.
can you do a active track through woods and presision landing
Precision landing was shown in this video. Active track through obstacles will come in a future video (spoiler alert.. the EVO II is pretty good at it).
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Yeah it didn't really precision land, more precision hover and wait for you to do something ;)
@@James28R That's because the controller told him it was unsafe to land with the 2 obstacles.
Steve you are A MAZ ZING, thumb all chopped up and two seconds later, GON. I'd love an Autel EVO 11, just too old and not a good enough flyer. And how you can sit in the long grass, and not loose concentration. A good editor too. just love what you do, cheers me you.
The video is very clear as to which drone this is.
Same feeling to iPhone. Lol....
I might get one of these shipped to the uk as i am sick of dji screwing the transmission power down (CE Mode).Dji used to have a switch on the old phantom 2 which switched between fcc mode and ce mode but MP2 stuck with low power transmission .

Oh my god look how stable it is.
This drone is great. I have some reviews, really trying to tear thing thing apart, and WOW, the image is terrific when you can get it to work right.
Autel has really upped their game
Cooking made easy! Watch out DJI. Too late, Autel is pulling ahead.
Good competition is good for us buyers.
yeah, they need to keep pushing!
TONY MCCLENDON agreed!
Best EVO II review I have seen. Straight forward with lots of info.
Thank you!
I love my Evo 1, but now I'm gonna be out a few more $$$. Thanks sir. Also bought the 1 from Mr. Davis @ DroneWorks. Great company.
Question: So if I am flying my Mavic Mini and there the ground rises, will the drone eventually crash into the hill?
Of course it will! There is a reason it costs less the $500 because it was designed to be light, and to be light, it has next to no sensors or options.
CAPTAIN DRONE Well there you go!
CAPTAIN DRONE Even if it is very gradual?
@@chadgarber No sensor means even if you were going .02mph it will still hit that hill.
Thank you for the kind explanation. It seems to be good enough for recording video, even compared to Mavic pro :)
Best drone reviews on TH-cam by a long shot
Thank you!
Great drone, great video, by the way Captain Drone We need more 60fps youtube videos to enjoy
On the fence about getting the new Mavic mini or original Mavic air. Love the air but worried about future support considering it’s now discontinued. Do I get the new new or chance it
What is a "new new" ?
New new as in Mavic mini or refurbished air. Sorry
@@lugnut1981 Both are fine (new or refurbished). Also if you can get a Mavic Air for the same price as the Mavic Mini, go with the AIR. The Mini is great, but since it lacks so many features it is designed more for people who just need a drone under 250 grams.
CAPTAIN DRONE thanks Cap your the best
Pulled the trigger on the Mav air. Be here tomorrow. Can’t wait!
OMG!!! ITS SO GOOD!!! THANKS SO MUCH CAP. DRONE😃😃👍👍 I love the content this channel brings to yt🙃
I totally agree!!!
What's the song at the very beginning?
The moment you put it in the air I was struck by how stable it appeared. Looks great!
First time viewer! Outstanding, clear explaination of features! Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Not sure if you mentioned it but. Did autel. Improve the wobbly gimbal. ?
They must have because my gimbal was rock solid
Hats off to autel for the great drone and for captain to review it
Great video Steve, Its great that the drone passed the "incline test"! Love the 8k demonstration.
Nice, the review I’ve been waiting for. I like his videos, I always learn more from him. While the others are fine, he doesn’t talk like he’s had 30 expressos, and his explanations are kinda bottom-lined for the average pilot...
How do you think the EVO 2 video quality compares to the Typhoon H PLus, which do you prefer and why?
I have not flown or reviewed the Typhoon H plus so can't comment.
Nice review, do one for the Mavic Air 2 when you get it.
Nea he'll buy it and not do a review on it.
Jodeb Your obviously new to this channel..... Rookies.... 🙄🙄🙄.
@@rogerthat9174 You're* Good thing I wasn't being sarcastic. :)
The MAVIC AIR 2 will certainly receive my attention as well.
The Drones just keep getting better and better! Very cool Captain Drone. Nice Drone. Thanks for your time making these great videos, keep em coming!
If the sensor is the same as the Mavic Air 2, why is the drone twice the size? Why does it need to be so big?
Desert Dan Battery is much bigger and longer flight time is probably the main reason it is bigger😀
There are more components in a drone than just sensors?
Jodeb What other components are you referring to, to need such a big drone?
Desert Dan your better off spending the day doing some research.
Drone sighting Smith Better off not trolling in the comments section.
This was a great review and breakdown of this drone, thanks for the quality!
Glad it was helpful!

Excellent review, picture quality from evo is awesome, whilst trialling the evo, was their any software bugs, ? I am still in awe, over the customer service you recieved..
Finally uncle...I have been waiting...Thanx a lot for the review
Hilmi Ahmad HQ He's back .,,, your long lost nephew. 😳😳😳.
I love your new graphics that you've been using lately with the little magnifying glasses in the arrows and all that good stuff well put together almost TV quality if you were to be on transmitting on a TV with commercials and co-stars and such really got it together dude been watching you for quite a long time now I love the outro song still got a good beat good Rhythm love the lyrics love the voice of the person singing too bad you can't make any more videos of your band just playing songs like that
Steve Meyer That is THE longest run on sentence I've ever read. Take a breath.
What is the max wind speed you would recommend before you stop flying?
All drones can fly in wind that is blowing at a speed that is less than the forward speed of the drone. I've been doing this for so many years that I can fly in any wind. Beginners on the other hand should only fly in mild wind (the kind that causes a flag to lightly move in the wind).
Why didn't you just put a cable-tie round the cable?
Better question is why did not he use the cable wrap that was already on the cable? Clearly visible starting at 1:06. By the way, informative video Cap'n.
Great review thanks. Got mine a couple of weeks ago in Mexico. Testing it today with dirtbikes using some of your hints shown here.
High end drone or high end scooter? Tough call in which I'd rather get.
Bin Accoun drone it’s like kidney or drone! Drone obviously
scooter , Quads can change so much in a year that you are going to buy another one in a week/month whereas the scooter should last you much longer. If it wasnt for the archaic laws here i would have one too.
As for the Quad ( drones carry weapons) it looks pretty nice and the EIS/stabilization works but 24fps is just vile and 24fps@8K makes me want to puke, but other than that it looks sweet.
@@lxlrvfx1764 Dont kid yourself :) i have kidney failure it aint nice.....................................................................i'd probably stick pick the drone though lol
Best drone channel by far
Thank you!
When it didn’t immediately take off after giving it voice command, I was expecting to hear a “Take off, eh!” a la Bob and Doug McKenzie
It's a beauty way to go.
Thanks for the review. I'm considering the Evo 2 pro even though I just got the Mavic Sir 2S. Definitely subscribing.
Awesome, thank you!
I'm really getting more and more impressed with the reviews of the evo II, When I take the dive again this will be in my options box. thanks for a great review.
10 bit color or no? Are the EXP curves usable for video?
If making the next hollywood blockbuster movie, then probably not. If making a video for yourself, family, youtube then of course Yes.
Great job, but I still see that Tilted Horizon still there 2 years later..
Never noticed it. You may wish to watch this video again and point it out.
Hey Captain Drone! Is there an indicator on the controller that tells the pilot what direction the drone is facing (when up in the air) in relationship to the location of the pilot? Thanks.
You'd just go the MAP section on your display.
CAPTAIN DRONE thank you for the quick reply. This is important to me as I’ve found with the ZLRC 906 Beast Pro I lose direction orientation when the drone is far away from me (still within line of sight).
Hi Steve
I love your videos and also the Evo because the App is user friendly, the bottom bar with camera settings is great and easy to use and the best is "No Restrictions"
As you waiting for the V-Copter this month. For now I won't upgrade my Evo 1 because I think the Evo 2 is over priced.
Again I really enjoy your unique reviews
V-COPTR is not out until the fall
Hi Steve, I was looking at your reviews over a year ago and I think you did were great and detailed with AUTEL EVO 2 drone. THE BEST VIDEO DRONE REVIEW I have ever seen! Wow this drone is the best have ever seen too, your review was superb I don't think DJI is able to make a drone like this and at this price they cost at least twice as much! Bye Bye at your next review GREAT JOB STEVE!
Thank you greatly!
Finally bought the Evo 2 pro Rugged bundle .
Damn it's expensive
II don't get why people bitch about price. Either you want it or you don't. If you don't like the price, don't buy it. Simple.
I wish i could afford one .i have a huge mavic air oackage for sale in gna sell and put toward ine i think
@@flyineyeaerialfpv5592 The 6K is the better image quality when compared to the 8K. The 6K is just more expensive so people shy away from it.
The real question is how good is the camera that you can fly this drone at night
Great, what a reprieve on this guy's thoroughness, my only question is how much does the V3 add to the mix ?
It needs a Canadian mode...Takeoff, eh, you hoser! LOL!
But seriously, it looks like a really nice drone with a great video set up.
I've been watching this drone since its release as soon work resumes it will be my first high end purchase really enjoyed your review only helped with my decision

For just about the same price for the air 2. I can buy the original evo bundle. Complete with three batteries hard case. Extra props. But should I be concerned that autel will abandon it. Like stop making updates and batteries. Like Dji does. You know the drill.
What is the best app to fly my shoX recon drone
Such a dope drone. I almost want to cancel my MAVIC Air 2 and get this one. Great channel as always.
It doesn't have way points for a drone that expensive?
It has the best waypoints & mapping too. As noted at the very start of the video, it is in the MISSIONS tab.
Another GREAT review, I always learn so much!
