Incredible story. It is a credit to those within the local bowling community that loved Simo enough to protect him and be there for him. It’s a wonderful story. Some movie director and script writer should make a movie about Simo’s life. ❤
I bowled the DFW Youth Travel League with Simonsen most of my youth bowling years. He was a fun kid to watch even for us other kids at the time. Always enjoyed it. Watched him roll a 300 around 2010 ish in Greenville, TX. Also bowled head to head best 2 of 3 match against him at City View Ft worth around the same year. He won the first game and beat me the 2nd 244-243. Hell of a time and memory. Best wishes for a long career for him.
The fact that Simonsen overcame the tragedies he had gone through and still does what he loves is incredible. And he is one of the best at doing what he loves. Bowling is the best sport.
Anthony is my inspiration not only as a bowler but as a person. I relate to him a lot. Nice to see his story is being shared with us all. Makes me respect him a hell of a lot more than I already did
This kid should never be doubted ever again in his life for what he has gone through to achieve what he's always wanted to do for the rest of his life.
This was tough to watch for me as my mother has early onset Alzheimer's. I always wanted to to something professionally and my mother was always my biggest supporter. Getting serious into bowling its very sad to think if i get to that point she might not even remember who i am anymore. I related so deeply with simo as i have spent nights crying because my mom really is my best friend. From a young age i told her everything i was the biggest mamas boy and its tough watching the transition. Keep these videos up i really love learning the players backstories and hardships that i am currently idolizing.
What a great document to such an amazing bowler and person! Just goes to show, you never know what someone may be going through or overcome, great story and inspiration!
Seeing this has completely turned my head on this kid. Not that I haven’t rooted for him in the past because he’s one of my favorites. But what a story. Happy he’s had success
I grew up bowling travel league/Pepsi with players like Simo, Sean and Anthony Lavery Spahr. Bowled in Jr. Gold competitions with players such as Ej Tackett, Marshal Kent, Kris Prather, Mike and Darren Tang and AJ Johnson. My goodness, I experienced so much raw talent even though I was averaging a decent 205 or 210 I knew my dreams of going pro were far out of reach. I wasn’t too upset though, I bowled against some of the best in my opinion.
I learned to bowl at Ayr Lanes in Liberal Kansas. It wasn't Billy's at the time and they had 24 lanes instead of 16. 1-8 used to be where the bar, arcade and dance floor is now. It is so cool to see that hanging on the wall
Such a beautiful story 👍🏻 and it reminds me a lot of myself about how my life kind of was growing up definitely not the same by any means but I had the potential he had but unfortunately didn't capitalize on it like how Anthony did but just like my grandma used to say it's never too late and I also plan on joining him on the pba tour I know I'm good enough I just need the opportunity maybe someday ☺️👌🏻💯
Excellent documentary! Loved him before this, love him more now! Big fan and look forward to his long career in this sport and where it takes him! Walter Rays 47 win record is going down!!!
I can relate to how Anthony handles not bowling well. I am the same exact way. I always tell myself I’m going to handle bad breaks better and I always act the same way. I’ve been working on it but sometimes my frustration gets the best of me
I've seen a lot of people hate on him for his attitude, I'm glad to see what made him what he is today, even though he still has occasional outbursts, it's directly at himself unlike some bowlers who blame others for their inability to win. I hope Simo reaches that level of peace in his mind i'm sure it's not easy with his life experiences. nevertheless, he is one of the greats of the sport.
To be completely honest.. been watching him on the PBA tour for years.. I always thought of him as an asshole n prick on the lanes... that being said after watching this documentary series.. I can see why he I the way he is and understand where he is comming from!! We def need more of these series!! Gets u to really understand why he is the way he is!! Great to watch!!
@@LucasWiseman That’s always aggravating good thing TH-cam can do wonders if the actual owners provide proof they own original footage. You look like you guys film in raw, so easily can have it taken down! Look forward to seeing y’all in Vegas later this year
three major things I would like to say first things first belmo hit it right on the dot as soon as he gets rid of his anger mental game he will be just as good or better than Belmo second thing I know that he didn't finish high school but if something horribly happened to him I know this bowling community would seriously take care of him and the business he has in Vegas third thing is is I pray for him that he finds faith in Jesus Christ which is the most important out of everything else combined
I grew up in the same area and have known many bowlers at Plano Super Bowl who talk about him a lot. They’re always rooting for him when he’s on TV
These two documentaries have been incredible, I'd love to see more features like this - the content, storytelling, production, everything.
What's the other one..

Hats off to his bowling community for taking care of him

I am really loving these documentaries they have such good storytelling

Thanks Anthony for sharing your story. Your hard work paid off.

I remember bowling at Jupiter Lanes as a kid. It's crazy that this kind of talent grew up there.
Pls keep doing these!
Excellent video. Very sad at times, but this young man has overcome the odds and has become one of the top bowlers in the PBA.

Do it for her! Even if she may not remember your successes, you'll always feel better knowing you gave it your all.

This is 'must see TV' for anyone who loves the sport!

It was really cool to hear Simos story. Thanks for sharing homie!
Enjoyed this Documentary I bowl on 1 leg and Crutches. 2 yrs ago Darren tang put me on His channel at Milwaukie Bowl.
This was very well done. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this
Cool little documentary. Any idea what happened to his dad?
He lost his dad in September 2021.

6:57 isn't this the guy who was in thr audience when he won the Player's Championship?
Did he leave the grande there?

wouldn't be cool he bought the jupiter bowling alley back and got it up and running again
How come I saw this on another TH-cam channel about a week or two ago?
It was posted without FloBowling’s permission.

I'm surprised he didn't mention Chuck Lande... Im sure he was an influence.

I still say this kid is the next Belmo but he gotta get that anger under management, Once he does hey, skies the limit.
I have gained a lot more respect for him - but he needs to at least get his GED - bowling will not last forever.
