- Took the Bangkok Canal Express Boat in the Evening from Pratunam to Asoke Station along the Khlong Saen Saep Canal.
It's nice to see the skill that the boat drivers use to navigate the Canals.

I have been stuck outside of Bangkok for more than a year because of covid and this boat ride has brought back good memories. I have ridden these boats a number of times while living there. The tickets are so cheap and it is an aspect of Bangkok many people have not experienced. I especially love the roar of the motors when the boats take off from the piers. Such power! I have only been on them during the day and now would love to take the ride during the evening because it does look quite beautiful at night. Just be careful not to get the khlong water splashed in your eyes. During the day these boats get very crowded and seem to have a couple of hundred people on board. As always beautiful scenery especially at night...the boats are like trains on the water when they are in the enclosure...this one is going on my ever growing list of 'to dos' whenever I get to Bangkok - keep up the good work GTM, another well deserved thumbs up!
Do be warned, however, as the water quality in Klong Saen Saep - especially the part where it run through urban area - is very poor (to put it mildly) It's even notorious for us Thais. Do expect the smell to be quite bad.
We rode one of the ferries on the Chao Phraya River and were taken away by how skillful the boat drivers are in Thailand...We live on the Delta water ways in Discovery Bay and drive our boats regularly for recreational but comparing the skills we have learned over the years is no match to these drivers in Bangkok!

Very good quality! Boat’s noise Is totally normal! You can t do anything against it! These boats are for me the best way to avoid sukhumvit traffic jam and its sometimes very polluted air! Thanks for the vidéo!

You know my last visit to BKK a couple of years back I did not know that they had such an extensive water transit services like they do or I would have totally used them to avoid the traffic jams I was frequently in on the roads. Next time I will definitely try it out thanks to your many videos of catching multiple forms of mass transit in the city. You are doing everyone a great service, thank you!

You really like to hang out in the Pratunam area....you know that is my valley...555.....the boat rides on the canal is awesome and cheap.
I rode the Boats on the River but never rode on the Canals because I never really knew where they went or how often they stopped. Next time I will be more adventurous. Every time I watch your Vids I always think of the Serpent Series on Netflix. Ha , you got me binging on that Show a while back

You know me - I love Khlong rides.👍Sadly the mobiles reach their limit by videos at night. If there is still light from lamps the mobiles can handle it easy but in really dark scenes they lose. But good to know. If I do a night ride on a boat I must use my camera and a lense who catches alot of light in the dark

Nice updates Jeroen. I will definitely ride on this boat again if I have another chance to go there again. I had thought of maybe this year or next year the most, the border shall be reopened again; but until yesterday I have a new thought, at least 3 years or more I still have to wait, whatnot for the option I prefer: travel Without Flying.

You should really invest in simple, inexpensive lavalier mic.
Do you pay according to distance travelled like the BTS? The thing I love about your videos is it helps me to learn Bangkok. I would love to see a map that highlights the route you travelled so I can see what part of town this is and in particular, what street your walking, biking or riding on, direction, etc. This way I can follow the map as I’m watching the video. Saw many comment about how nice this ride is.
While yes, as far as transportation goes this boat ride is a very good way to travel through parts of the the Sukhumvit Area. It's way cheaper than the skytrain and congestion in the river is nonexistent.
However, do be warned that the water quality of the water in Khlong Saen Saep is, to put it mildly, very poor. In fact, the water quality there is notorious even among us Thais (The same cannot be said about part of the Khlong that flows through the suburb -say, the last few piers before the depot at Wat Sri Boonruang and beyond that-).
So, expect strong smell when you come take this ride in the future (How strong? I can't fully say, I've been living my entire life next to a Khlong myself, I think I could say I'm accustomed to the smell of a Khlong water and wouldn't find it unpleasant ...but nor do I find the smell of Durian unpleasant)
Enjoy the boat ride in the evening. We take already the boat overday at the Golden mount but we didn't found a connection with the chao praya to go to saphan Thaksin. Is there a connection possible?

Hi! The last time I was in Bangkok I was going to ride one of the Klong boats but read people saying the water is VERY polluted and it splashes on you when you ride. Is that correct?
It sometimes splashes a little bit.

Yes, the sounds was sh*t I tried it with the microphone, but it did not work well. It is quite windy when the boat makes speed.
