You miss the point of what I am saying Ostrichspeed I am not talking about jumping over to socialism, I am sayinf that the bourgeois epoch promised things it could not deliver (equality, fraternity, liberty, the rights of man, etc) This has nothing to do with socialist consciousness, it has everything to do with the hypocrisy of bourgeois politics - Jefferson made declarations of universal human rights even though he was a slave owner.
The declaration of independence was not part of the American Constitution. The DoI was a rejection of the monarch not an affirmation of all humans being identical in intelligence.
