That forehand winner at break point down in the third, probably most important shot of his career
So true !
Absolutely agree
Exactly
He played an identical shot at 30-40 BP Nadal while serving for the Aussie open 2017 championship
I watched this full match. At that point, Fed was in big trouble. huge respect to him for going for his shot rather than playing it safe. after that point he just seemed to play way more free and aggressive. so glad he won FO09
I will never forget this match ... I was preparing Baccalaureate exams in my room, suddenly my sister called me : "Federer is close to defeat ! ".
OMG Nadal yesterday, and today Federer... that's a lot ! I immediately went to see the score and watch the "end of the match"... the rest is History !
man it reminds me an era when federer was playing clay court season and wasn't skipping it RG 2009 was surely one of the best tournaments i witnessed
I remember the match like it was yesterday. I was 6 years old and was watching the match with my dad and when I saw Federer had lost the first two sets, I was just thinking: Is he gonna come back? And then he won the match🎾😍💪
This is one of Federer's most important matches EVER. In a tournament that, it may seem he had it very easy since Rafa was defeated by Söderling, but he actually had to go through a lot. This and the match vs Delpo prove how Roger's mental strength, though not as consistent as Rafa's or Nole's, is one to admire.
It's a shame he has not found shots like the inside out forehand he hit here against Nadal & Djokovic at crunch moments.
roger is just as consistent as novax djocovid and nadal, he literally BARELY loses to him even tho he’s 5 years older and out of his prime.
Fuck djocovid. Nadal is the GOAT, fed is #2 cuz novax is an asshole
@@incredibleXMan against rafa? He did that multiple times but against not as many against novak. Tho 2019 is still bad to look at that match
I think it was his own fault he even got to the point of almost losing the match. He did not lose almost any point on his own serve the first set, then he suddenly lost the tiebreak. He lead with a break in the second set and then he suddenly lost the entire set.
@@MEZOMEZO2011 both in matches all throughout his career
10:07 = point that saved feds career. would have been done 2 sets with haas serving for the match. and he hits it right on the line, unreal gutsy play under that kind of pressure
Roger's mental strength is sometimes underappreciated, mostly because, indeed, it is not as consistent as Rafa's or Nole's. But Roger also has his fair share of clutch performances, and this is truly one of them.
U
Definitely not “right on the line” but might as well be with the pressure of the point!
Not career, but legacy
"Now, every tennis player has good shots, forehands and backhands, good speed and rezistence. The difference is the mentality of the player. This is now the distinction between good and very good players"
N.Djokovic.
The fact that it's djokovic who said it is even more meaningful!
Watching this after hearing the news of Federer retiring. One more time, Maestro!
Amazing that Fed was one point away from having Haas serving for the match here, and then won 9 games straight to take it to a decider.
The match that started it all. Federer never looked back in that years tournament after this match.
Wasn't far from losing to Delpo
Just passing through on my journey to watch every Federer match.
People forget because of how often nadal won RG how much Nadal and Federer were both massive favourites for the title, particularly in the interval 2004-2009. In 2009 the odds were much more even, Federer was no longer ill like in 2008, he had beaten Nadal in straight sets in the final of the madrid masters only a few weeks earlier to win his fifth clay masters title. And over the previous 4 years the only person that had beaten Federer at RG was Nadal. So when Nadal lost the day before this match Federer was suddenly standing alone as the very very strong favourite for the title. The pressure must have been huge.
It was. He said in an interview that after Nadal lost, every match he played felt like a final because of how much pressure there was on him to win the title
My favorite two players of all time.
sad
Love you bro
13:30 is the kind of shot only Federer was capable of. In slow motion you can see the perfect movement of his body to male this shot. In terms of pure tennis he is way ahead of all other tennis players in history
10:08
The Forehand winner that save Federer's career ... 🚀
Federers High level of Natural Talent was on Full display after being down 2 sets in this match...He was hitting EVERY shot in the book...That Defensive Lob at 11:15 at Break point was Breathtaking...Forehand winner during Break Point for Haas to serve for Match was Vintage Federer
Shot of the game by far
the best thing about this video is the umpire saying game haas...game federer 😂😂😂
Tommy haas was the last person who reached world no. 2 as his best ranking of tennis career since 2002
Now we've to see if Medvedev is world number 1 material.
@@ketan6182 He is close to world no.1 once 3 goats are weakened and even retire. Anyway, djokovic must participate more tournaments and reach to final if he wants to stay at 1st spot for longer time because today, his range of points with medvedev is only 1900s
@@ketan6182 And then medvedev moved up to world no. 1 after 2022. So the spot of world no. 2 has been remaining vacant again!
10:08 the clutch serve and forehand that saved Federer's career.
I bet you were a husky in a previous life
that backhand from Haas at 3:35 was incredible!
The first time I ever saw Ion Tirjiac tense up was on the break point when Federer hit a miracle shot
Incredible match by both players! Though being Fed fan, I've always liked how Tommy Haas played, very smooth footwork and shot technique. Nowadays every top 100 player (with little exceptions) tend to play power game and trying to out blast the opponent, flair and skilled plays are left behind in the past.
10:36 what a motivational sound from the audience!
Ese Wimmer de drive fue un antes y un después en ese RG para Roger Federer
People might not know what a good player haas was, i remember seeing him in 2001-02 and it looked like he would be one of the best players in the coming years, unfortunately injuries blighted his career
The chair umpire kept calling Haas "ass"
Typical French accent 🙄 I'm French myself and this is a bit cringe when you speak English 😭
H is silent in french
Tommy could've won that match in straight sets. Damn, he had Roger in his hands too. Oh well...
i was there, the weather was very hot, when he saved the break point with an inside out forehand we knew that the match is over, all the stadium stand up
What's the point of conducting a poll when you had already decided to upload this match
Haas is the reason Federer has 1 RG,so sad for Tommy this was his year
Soderling
Soderling
I like how there’s no Nadal in the intro
So the poll didn't matter?
Which match won in poll?
@@rbhardwa1 Djokovic vs Murray 2016. It was 58% - 42%
@@deliagherghe8477 I think they just looked at the most liked comments and used those to gauge the overall sentiment about the two matches/make their decision
Maybe they’ll post both
Do You see the video in a good quality?
This was the day after Nadal lost to soderling. That week was so crazy in that court.
Where is djokovic murray final?
Very boring match tbh, hardly a classic
@@viratbaivab2990 the 2016 final was interesting match . It also won the poll. They shoud upload it instead.
Il est revenu de loin federer 2 set à 0 , quel mental.
10:06 simply incredible
11:25 Roger footwork
Haas backhand incredible 👍👍
why are the lines swimming
"Tommy Haas was making his 9th ABSENCE at the tournament"
haha, careless subtitling.
and I expected HD picture from official channel...
Don't know why Federer always had such tough matches with Haas, even in 2017 Haas beat him on grass.
Maybe because haas was an incredible player extremely unlucky with injuries? Keep in mind he reached the wimbledon semis that year as well beating djokovic two times.
@@dusanstanisic3449 Also beat Djokovic at Miami in 2013, he was really good.
Because Haas was a very good player. A shame his career was blighted with injuries otherwise I think we would've made a few slam finals.
2012 Halle Final as well
10:08 golden forehand and rest was hi§tory.
We told you murray djoko final not this
Why on earth would you want a four setter that was a stomp after the second set over a 5 setter that was vital to Roger Federer’s legacy?
@@nathanroman6566 i know but novak first rg is important such as Federer roland 2009 ! And we have no highlights at all of murray djoko final !
@@romainmj7245 pretty sure this channel literally has an upload of that entire match
@@nathanroman6566 Maybe because it meant very much to Novak's legacy as it was his fourth slam in a row which neither of Federer or Nadal have achieved. At least this is why I wanted to see it.
@@nathanroman6566 No, it doesn't.
it was one of most crusial moment in his career
That point didn't "save" roger's career. If he didn't win that maybe he could've won another year, who knows... My point is that it's in the past and his career would still be incredible
“Tommy Ass” 😆😆😆👏👏🇫🇷
final game of a tournament?
Should be "making his 9th 'appearance' at the tournament" instead of "9th absence"?
Theim vs schrwatzman 2020
Hello gorgeous, nice to meet . How are you doing !?
one match indcridibile
5:35 Someone started watching Seinfeld.
Was Nadal out at this point?
More people voted to see the novak- Murray final. Not this 😭😠😡
Yes these channels are always biased towards fed and then everyone comes next
Hello gorgeous, nice to meet . How are you doing !?
Second one
This happened 🥳 And then 10 years and two months later...
Hoe he did it? 🙂
Very biased highlights only showing federer points.
And they say that Roger is not lucky
He was not lucky, he was just good.
Every good tennis player has had good and bad luck before
