I can burst into tears when I see this. It is really well done, considering all the cameras and the lights and a director etc. This Clark is the hottest, the most romantic and the sweetest Clark I have ever seen.
Wow. You can practically melt when he says "I'm your husband" and she responds with the emotional "and I'm your wife". The love was just overflowing. Still, both of them were strong in facing the challenge ahead.
This was one of those most heartbreaking moments in this whole show watching Lois so heartbroken 😭 and devastated when Clark told her he had to leave her not because he wanted to but that he had to do it!!!!!!!!!
You had H.G Wells, and I think, some others, say that Lois and Clark were supernaturally destined to be together...and yet here he is supposed to have been destined from birth to marry someone else, whom he can communicate with telepathically. They sometimes used non-verbal communication as a sign of Lois and Clark's connection, such as Home is Where the Hurt Is, when she knows he's awake. So the idea that he can have that same kind of thing with someone else...must be upsetting. And although she doesn't act mad at him for leaving, either here or when he comes back, it has to feel in a way like he's choosing Zara over her, and it can't help with all her (Lois', I mean) relationship fears.
20 years?! I can't even believe it. I was 14 when Lois and Clark first aired on television. I'm 33 now. The revelation of this is blowing my mind as we speak.
I was a teen as well - and I don't remember what was going on behind the scenes at this point - but ending season 3 with his leaving really feels like there was uncertainty as to whether a Season 4 was going to happen - it seems like it could have been a way to "hedge their bets" - they didn't do anything as permanent as killing off a main character, but he could come back quickly (as he did), or not, or, if he was away for many years, they could have done a reboot in the future.
I sobbed my eyes out at the end of this episode. I couldn't believe he left and I screamed bloody murder that I was going to have to wait four or so months between the finale and the premiere. Jesus, those were some of the longest months of my life! :) I love this series. Christopher Reeve did an incredible job, but for the small screen, it will always be Dean Cain, L&C. Forever, baby! I'd kill for a 2hr reunion movie. We are coming up on the 20th anniversary!
On the one hand, because the original "wedding" turned out not to be real, and there was the whole clone arc, and then this, fans felt like they had been waiting forever for Lois and Clark to get married - and there are almost-breaking-the-fourth-wall kind of references to that in "Swear to God...." But on the other hand, they kind of skipped over a real "dating" phase and ended up jumping from "partners and best friends" to "we're going to get married." They had the first two years of not really admitting that they liked each other "that way," and then some angsty attempts to move from friends to...more (from the end of season 2 through the early season 3 "break-up" through Ultra-Woman.) And then they're basically considering themselves engaged - and you realize that Lois was never completely "healed" you might say, from her past - she tended to freak out at new stages - like his suggestion to make an offer on a house - even after she was committed to marrying him. And you can actually understand her high anxiety as the wedding approached, since it was actually true that things DID just keep going wrong for them (and, re-watching now, I can even understand why she might continue to have fears about him - since he does basically leave her twice - Contact and this arc.)
The episode where they get married for real has some lines like "this is what everyone has been praying for for so long" - which seem to be a nod to viewers of the show.
This show was endearing back in the day. The Deb Levine seasons really good. There was some really awful stuff - but also some good (like many shows, I guess)
you all seemed to think that they made love that episode but they didn't it might have implied it but in the next season after the weddings clark did say as he is lighting the candles that it was 'their first time' so obviously they didn't in fan fiction it was mentioned to but they didn't not from the clues I can see and just for future references the episodes where clark marries that clone already happened a few episodes ago
This episode was sad because I didn’t want Clark to go leaving Lois alone because he loves her. In the window when Superman goes Lois already misses him they’re both meant to be together! The chemistry is so amazing 🤩 and beautiful love ❤️ this couple so much 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Him having to leave for a length of time that couldn't be specified - how long would it take to defeat Nor and arrange something with succession that wouldn't allow Nor's faction to take over - plus the fact that Kryptonian law recognized Zara as his wife - were sad enough. Not really discussed a lot - although Martha and Johnathan allude to it - is the fact (if I understand correctly) on the New Krypton planet he wouldn't have powers (not sure about the floating palace.) So he wouldn't be invulnerable in a battle. That's why, for Johnathan and Martha, it was like sending a son off to war - whereas his getting into a war zone on Earth wouldn't be dangerous for him. When the New Kryptonians came back to Earth along with him, he still had all his invulnerabilities to the standard Earth dangers...but so did they, along with all the superpowers.
Interesting fact: When I was a kid in England, they stopped showing it on TV after this episode, and I thought this was how the show ended. Years later, we moved to Holland, and when I saw the season four premiere, I was like "Whats going on here?!?"
This was overall still the best show, cgi wise and everything. I think people forget it was about lois and Clark, and they nailed it. I tried, but u can't get behind the new show
Clark always intended on returning to Lois, he just didn't know how long it was going to be. And on their honeymoon, Clark mentioned to Lois that it was their first time together. But I like your version of events better
At the end he makes a speech about how he knows he's really Clark, not Kal-El, and that Zara belongs ruling New Krypton and he belongs with Lois - and he tells her mid-way through Battleground Earth that as soon as he beats Nor he's done with the New Kryptonians...but I'm not sure his mind was completely made up about that throughout the arc? Not everything he says along the way completely sounds like that?
oh I see I just have been noticing quite a few of you mentioning it on lois and Clark fan fiction yeah I know what you mean when I first watched that episode I kind of hoped they did it too but in some other ways I am glad they didn't their wedding night was pretty steamy and we as much loved fans got to see the whole show hay!! lol
this scene was by far the best moment of lois and clark but what makes me laugh is the pictures lois is looking at those were photos, one photo is from the episode the "Irish eyes are killing" where clark tracks down lois who is having lunch with a old boyfriend what did someone secretly take photos of her in the park lol then send them to her not exactly their best moment together neither was happy at that time
Dianne Hamelin I thought that too it seemed rather odd! The first photo is one when they are at her apartment in the episode 'the dad who came in from the cold' who could have taken that one? Certainly not Jimmy
@@aussiesoccerchic It seems to me that some fans think the writers came up with a few TOO many (and very "out there" complications before they could get married): the arc with the clones, Lois losing her memory and being manipulated by Deeter, the people from New Krypton, and then the curse that required them to travel back in time...but given the premise, and universe of this show, I find those less hard to believe than Clark breaking up with Lois - after a couple of episodes of trying to get her to marry or have a serious relationship with him - right at the precise moment when she was becoming more comfortable with the relationship - he made her worst fear come true (She admits later "You broke my heart,") his reasoning being that the relationship put her in danger. I thought she had been exposing herself to danger as a reporter, certainly before they were dating, maybe even before Superman came on the scene? I also wasn't crazy about the fact that he proposed so soon after they started dating, and things got tense because she wasn't ready, and it took him until the end of "We Have a Lot to Talk About" to say he was ok with waiting. He couldn't not have realized that it was soon, relative to when they moved from friends to couple.
And this New Krypton thing happens right when you feel like they're finally in a place where nothing like Contact/Irish Eyes/Noah will happen again...I'm actually kind of surprised Lois doesn't have a more angry "you're leaving me" attitude here.
That's kind of funny to think about too - as is HG Wells saying that their souls were always destined to meet and fall in love - because we remember the way seasons 1 and 2 played out.
If you're not already, get yourself on Zoomway.com where there are discussions of a possible reunion of some sort. Both Dean and Teri have said they'd be up for it!.xx
Seriously, with that ending, who DIDN'T think they had sex? That 'it's our first time together' BS after he came back was a complete wth moment. I agree, the way they closed that scene it intimated that they'd had sex. I totally would have ripped his clothes off if I didn't think I'd be seeing my fiancee ever again, or at least for an extended period of time.
@@evapalheta8299 And, after the balcony scene at the end of Battleground Earth, after the "marry me, let's not wait anymore" speech - you might think they would have stayed together for all that night - although it's less suggestive than this.
He tells Lois he never felt a real sense of belonging with anyone but her...but at other times you do get the sense he feels some kind of bond - even if not a sexual one - with Zara. It bothers me that Zara can read his thoughts...that seems like an intimacy thing that should be between him and Lois. But I imagine her picking up on him and Lois getting romantic - because of the whole telepathy thing - even though that would be a little creepy, I know - and either deciding she can't break this strong of a bond or deciding she wants a relationship like that.
+gargouenzene technically clark and Lois first time would probably b this scene if indeed they did have sex I can't remember. but it wasn't their honeymoon because he had married that frog clone of lois that lex had swapped her for. it wasn't the real Lois. lex had the real Lois and she had amnesia. twice if I remember correctly. so they never actually got married until season 4 I believe
gargouenzene what honey moon? In this video they haven't been married as yet. When they went on their honeymoon it was clark and the clone. They didn't officially get married until season 4 right? so ur referring to when they actually get married in season 4?
I also wonder a little about the ending scene of "Battleground Earth" with the "let's not wait to get married" speech, and you might think they might not want to wait anymore to do other things, either, but it ends with kissing on the balcony so it's not quite as suggestive as this.
lol is it obsessive to say that if i should have a son, i will name him clark or dean as a tribute to lois & clark. it would be jokes if i named him Kal-El, its ghetto, but kyrpton based.lol
What was tragic about this story arc was the Kryptonians impose their will on him and then, nearly succeed at killing him. Even the best of them have little compassion for him and for humanity. Maybe they deserved to face annihilation? And why would an advanced race still have arranged marriages and feudal hierarchy? Of all the versions of Superman, the Kryptonians in this version are truly a corrupt ancient, sick race. I think I like the original telling of the myth when Kryptonians were a distant memory, hardly understood, who lost their planet mysteriously.
Do you get the feeling by the end of Battleground Earth that Zara has learned from him something about how to rule more compassionately? While most TV shows have a man who is more flawed than the woman - both Lois and Zara are "made better" for having had Clark in their lives.
@@jessicalillianweinberg4401 Yes. Definitely. I have a very difficult time watching these Krypton-arc episodes. I lost the love of my life 4 yrs ago. The wounds are too new. Any stories of lost love are difficult. I've noticed, as you said, that Clark effects people for the better. I like that too. That is the way it should be. He was handed all the power of a demi-god and decided to be a helper- servant and a force for good. In this story he rejects a throne and power for his love. That is as noble as a human being - or Kryptonian, can be. I especially like Lois' character arc in this story. I wish they could have given us a hint how the Kryptonians were doing before the series ended. Even a word or two. Zara definitely had changed for the better. @@kathleenhensley5951 I recently realized that many fanfics were written while the series was on the air - but on summer hiatus - so there are stories about how Lois reacts to the first proposal, for example, and what happens after Clark leaves for New Krypton, where the writer genuinely didn't know what direction the show would go in.
@@kathleenhensley5951 It's interesting to me that Lois approaches this mainly with sadness - it's not like after Contact where she holds out for a while because "You broke up with me, you could do it again." She is obviously devastated, but she reacts joyfully to being reunited - and has the courage to come out and ask if there's anything between him and Zara.
@@kathleenhensley5951 Oh - I think Clark makes some stupid mistakes - oddly enough, keeping "the secret" isn't the one that bothers me the most - I understand his viewpoint there - and on re-watching, I find her not realizing it sooner kind of unbelievable - but there were a couple of mean tricks he played in the beginning when they weren't such a team, there was assuming the worst whenever he found her in Dan's company - and then there was proposing to her when they had barely started a relationship (to be fair, I don't know how much time they meant to elapse from Whine, to Answer, to We Have a Lot...but it does seem like there was no real "dating / couple but not engaged" phase - he jumped right to talking marriage) and acting so offended that she wasn't ready (he decided he would wait, but it took him awhile) - and then, breaking up with her the minute she was starting to get more comfortable with the relationship. Oh - I'm surprised I didn't add this one - I can't believe how helpless he acts when Lex takes Wanda-Lois away at the end of Double Jeopardy. Several of the things I'm thinking he could have done might have given his super powers away to Lex, but surely he could have come up with some way (he's used his powers secretively before). This is Lex driving off with Lois!
I am also Canadian and a fan of Justin Bieber... You gonna tell me that Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man reboot was a piece of shit and Tobey Maguire's Spidey movies were better too? I happen to be a big Spider-Man fan.
God I always thought it was sweet to have a name plate that said Lois Kent but honestly...she should NEVER change her name to ANYTHING. SHE SHOULD ALWAYS STAY LOIS LANE.

WHAT!?
Just 4!?
@ashleymarisa I think it was great that they waited til there wedding night ....should I saw real wedding night?
romantic
Must have been like hell.
sad.
I am also Canadian and a fan of Justin Bieber... You gonna tell me that Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man reboot was a piece of shit and Tobey Maguire's Spidey movies were better too? I happen to be a big Spider-Man fan.
Only to the Donner sycophants
....you mean people who like actual good acting and cinematography?
God I always thought it was sweet to have a name plate that said Lois Kent but honestly...she should NEVER change her name to ANYTHING. SHE SHOULD ALWAYS STAY LOIS LANE.
And she didn't.
Lois lane kent
Onde assisto os episódios ?
@ashleymarisa If I were them I would have gotten married so they could make love before he left...just in case!!!!
I still choose Tom over Dean because here and now, Tom is hotter
Tom is not charming nor romantic sorry just his blue eyes or green whatever and he is huge
Call me male and all that but I've never really cared for the romance element of L&C.
Hey you don't like Smallville... Fair enough. Don't shit all over the people who do like it. I think Tom Welling is one of the sexiest men on Earth... I like clean shaven, smooth chested men. Smallville was not melodramatic.
as much as I love this show... it was SOOOOO CORNY!!!
4th season sucked!. the writters made it too silly....superman was out of shape.
