Retired to Portugal :) got out before Brexit, so have residency. You sort of said it all when you said "Pint of Sagres for 2.50". Yup. 3 years in ... loving it. There are 'considerations' to make, and as you say, you get what you pay for regarding accommodation, and the food can be reasonably mundane unless you search it out. But prices are very good generally and the life style is best described as chilled, or super chilled :) People are super friendly and there is a lot of interpersonal respect, which makes a nice change. It's not Spain... and that for me is good.
@@ScotsmaninTenerife what part of Tenerife would you recommend for couples, nice beaches and restaurants? After an atmosphere but not too rowdy! Cheers
Love the videos good man for giving people an insight into what Portugal is like, it looks stunning. We are going as a family of six on the 25th of June and I cant wait it will be my first visit
Hi.Monte Gordo is a small quite beach resort near to the Spanish border. The great advantage is that it's completely walkable and totally on the flat, just like all the resorts east of Faro. West of Faro most resorts are on hills so not great for anyone with walking difficulties. Portugal in general is far quieter that Spain or Tenerife and usually attracts a more mature type of tourist. Enjoy your trip.
Hi kev a great video and very informative as usual the rooms in the hotel were pretty basic but acceptable looked pretty busy plenty to see and do lots of bars lve never been to Portugal it's always been Spain or Greece lve alse been to Bulgaria and Turkey but having watched your videos Portugal appeals to me especially some of the scenes from your last video it looks very much my kind of place for my next holiday hopefully coming soon in the meantime kev keep up with your great work and don't forget to keep those excellent videos of yours coming which I'm very much looking forward to seeing Thank you Kevin greetings from Swansea South Wales
We went to Albufeira about 5 or 6 times a few years back, and, to be honest, we thought that was us done with it. Had some great holidays there in the new and old towns, but the last time we were there in the new town, the strip had gone downhill. People were being sick in the street, (or worse), throwing food about restaurants, fighting, the whole lot, and it was never like that before. So, we decided it wasn't for us anymore. But, after watching your videos, we realised that we really miss it, and are gonna give it another go. Thanks Kevin.
Kevin, Hopefully you will go back to Portugal and keep up all of the great work as so informative and does feel to us that we are back there and it is beautiful and the weather is fantastic ,sorry but get your waterproofs on for old blighty. xx
Thank you for making videos of the Algarve I wondered what it was like there I've seen the official videos from the travel companies but you have shown the streets and the bars my wife and I enjoyed every one so thank you
There is a lift in villa Recife as I said yesterday there are 2 More roof terraces, also its the oldest house in Albufeira then it was extended to a hotel, there is an old photo in reception showing how villa Recife used to look. There are still loads of places you haven't seen. If you go past the cavern and keep walking past a bakery on your right further up the hill turn right follow the main road there are loads of hotels restaurants shops, supermarkets. It's about a 15 minute walk, there are loads of places to discover. give us a mention. Steve & Denise from Stockport
thanks sorry just catching up with comments. Shame they dont use the rooftop bit much it has great views. Loved the location of hotel its a bit noisy, rooms very basic but fine for me for what I paid, its over £100 a night in July I would never pay that fo it.
Got to say m8 I have loved watching your videos, even though we go every year. 43 days and we will back be so different than last year back to being busy
Great video, Kevin. I've lived near Albufeira for 22 years but am not here for the nightlife so it's interesting to see things from a tourist's viewpoint. I love the food and the wine. The trick is to go for genuine Portuguese dishes: Bacalhao à Brás (cod), Polvo (octopus)à Lagareiro ... But the best thing is grilled fish: Sea Bream, Bass, Sardines... It's not expensive by British standards and it's genuine (healthy) food - not the crap you get in the UK.
I think having watched these vlogs from Alb' and seeing the beach and very very calm sea (even with a bit of wind), it may suit families with young children. As for the nightlife...looked busy and pleasant, hopefully doesn't attract the rebellious young adults who usually have their trendier destinations like Magulluf, Americas, Aya Napa, Melia, Falaraki, Ibiza....etc. I shall subscribe because I do find it interesting to see these resorts without my likelihood of visiting them (I already have my bucket list). Just seeing the atmospheres still appeals to my senses. So goodluck with the next venture and take care. Thanks for showing. Oh last thought, hope you keep your Portugal baseball cap, useful keepsake, can always attach it to the outside of your rucksack..or to your shorts.
The town looks really nice and the weather is fantastic, like you said the hotel you stayed in looks very nice from the outside, I don’t blame you for not having breakfast in the hotel I wouldn’t either Kevin, I’m glad you enjoyed your trip
Cerro Malpique are very nice apartments on the opposite hill, steep climb up a lot of steps but so lovely and peaceful at night, stunning views walking down in the mornings, May be pricey peak season, I used to go Easter and October nice temperatures 🙂 Worth a look as you have a liking for the old town, Safe home Kevin
