It's perfectly clear to me why the powers that be would want King dead. He knew the truth, and he spoke it.

The Powers that were, knew the Truth , too. That was back when The Powerful not only didn't say the Quiet part Out Loud, They didn't let anyone say it either. They will always be back. Look how they are sweating the minor changes to American Aristocracy.

Did you guys catch the date of this? April 4, 1967. He was taken out on April 4, 1968. That wasn't an accident.

My youngest daughter was married at the Riverside church in 2017, she knew King spoke there and wanted to be married at that beautiful place of worship.

I agree so completely. The Catholic Church has put him on the path to declared Sainthood. I will never for-sake this motion.

What a brilliant speech laying out America's migration from its revolution to the squelching of other's. We must speak, we must change our militaristic , hegemonic and imperialistic ways. We must find a way to stand for justice, equality and freedom. If only we could find a political leader with a fraction of this wisdom and truth and the rhetorical skills to present same.

41:05 if you know you know, but honestly this segment is very powerful and I think beautifully speaks for how Vietnam era America felt about war at the time.

Baba Martin Luther King Junior spoke excellently condemning the war on Vietnam even if it cost him, his life.
Baba Martin was totally justified as totally unapologetic to condemn America for her arrogance by commiting an unjustly act against families in Vietnam such as murder rape and other cruelties.
Baba Martin even knew that Baba Malcolm X was right about the nasty things that America is unsurprisingly known for.

He was a global intellectual. He will always be my hero. This is a lane that he was not supposed to be in? The power structure expected him to stay in his black preacher and civil rights lanes. Kwame Ture (Stokely Carmichael) stated that he did not know that Dr. King was going to speak out this strong regarding Vietnam. Dr. King listened to the young people expressing their concerns about America's hypocrisy when it came to Vietnam and black people's struggles in this country. When he stated that this government was the “greatest purveyor of violence in the world,” it made him public enemy #1 to the power structure in Washington. President LBJ reportedly remarked “What is that goddamned n word preacher doing to me?" Lastly, substitute Vietnam in this speech, for Iraq and Afghanistan and one will see how his critique was spot on!

We are all sick, all of us, Muslim, Hindu, European, Black Americans - Palestinians & Isreal - please do not insult the CRM (civil rights movement) is not the same as our civil rights movement - Our movement was predominantly NON VIOLENT. And unlike the Palestinians, we were ok to live with our oppressors, and we took the scraps and still worked at it equality.
THE PALESTINIANS do not want concessions and JEWS must get out, NO- NOT THE SAME!!!

Curious how the pursuit of Truth from non-violent remarkable individuals such as King, Gandhi, Lincoln etc, inevitably ends in their sudden, violent demise and how we, today, have nothing to offer by way of comparison, just their moving testimonies and the Word of God.
This world Truly is Satan the devil's.......for now.
Even so, come Lord Jesus, on earth as it is in heaven, come. Amen.

From the wilderness the prophet cried out; outside the city gates he shouted and he warned.
But the only thing we learned from VN, it seems, is to keep war off TV.
"Attention all concerned outlets, the press pool gathers to your right. Don't forget your information packets. This way please..."

Yes. That's what many of his close allies have said. Rabbi Abraham Heschel was a close ally who was there at the speech and he concluded after hearing it that MLK had just signed his death warrant. The King family has said for decades the FBI was responsible (Ray was a patsy and didn't shoot him).

And I would nominate as its peer his Letter from a Birmingham Jail, cajoling white preachers, ministers, and priests to open their minds, hearts, and coffer to the Negro, as African Americans called themselves then.
