Thanks fòr this. You saved the day! I grew these peppers just for fun and was blessed with an abundant harvest. Having no idea what to do with them and not being able to give them away fast enough I despaired that I would just lose all of these beautiful peppers to rot as the seasons are changing. I'm so happy that I ran across your video. Now I know what to do with these peppers and some others that I grew.
Thanks!! I have a Dehydrator. I just picked around 200 Carolina Reapers off 3 Huge plants that I have in Big 🪣 Buckets. I Definitely wore 🧤 gloves! I'm Dehydrating them tonight ...Thanks Chris 👍🏾🔥🔥🌶️🌶️🌶️
I can’t thank you enough for this recipe. This is a great way to store peppers 🌶. With the way the supply chain is going, we’ll need a lot of these videos to help us store up food. Thank you, thank you 🙏🏾!!!
Thank you Chris. I'm growing herbs and such in the house. I forgot peppers. Anyone with a kitchen window can grow anything. You inspired me friend. I'm in a small town (Belleville). Not much selection here. I imagine you're in Hamilton or St. Catherine's with better pickings.
Thanks for this really really good video.....i always wanted to learn how to dehydrate spices an yes will really try this dehydrated pepper....think i could do my curry leaf or carapula leaves the same way....thank u Chris thank u thank u.....will learn how to do the curry spices to.
Throw those in the trash and grow something spicy. You know when it's hot enough.... when you can hear the Mexicans laughing at ya when you open the jar.
Thank you very much for this good info! I have my first Carolina Reaper plant. It started out 6 inches tall, and now it is 48 inches tall and has at least 45 or more unripened green Reapers, all are very healthy as I have taken very good care of this plant. It has 3 branches off almost a half inch main stalk. It is 45 inches wide. A nice looking dangerous plant with pretty little white flowers... How do I save seeds to plant next spring? If you know. I think dehydrating is the best method of keeping them as you have indicated. Just waiting for some one to ask me for some. Thanks man!
I have recently discovered a love of the Scotch bonnet Caribbean Jamaican Sauce with pinto beans going to browser Channel I really hope you have a recipe for that I have peppers drying in the oven as we speak😅
Chris wondering if you could do a mixture of frozen jalapeños., habanero, bananas, and others at the same time. I freeze my excess in ziplocks to use as needed. Also my lowest oven temp is 170f on warm & hold, will this work. Thanks in advance
@@caribbeanpot thought that would probably be the case. Got plenty on the bushes right now, going to be my project for weekend. You’ve made my love all peppers even more eat some type some way at every meal 👍👌
Hey Chris, just a thought can you do those peppers in the sun , I know it may take more than a day or two rather than 10 hours in the oven, thanks for sharing
Good video! I wish I knew about this before I froze a ton of Red, Orange & yellow Habanero peppers that I grew, & also some Birdseye chilis. They are all currently using up my freezer space! I wonder if this will still work if I thaw them out & then try to dehydrate them??
You can thaw them and then dehydrate them for sure buddy! How you like the birdseye chillies? I grow all the hottest ones. Thinking of starting birdseye
It’s interesting that green reapers or habaneros are fruitier than ripe red or orange colored ones. It’s not that typical that you get a chance to snack on them or use them in something to compare the tastes. I like red bell peppers more than green, so I would have thought maybe the same for hot peppers too. Thanks
I removed the seeds before dehydrating so I could grow some more maybe later. Didnt use gloves: the oil was pure fire. Luckily I'm a spice freak so the pain isn't too bad for me...but be warned!!!
My Moruga Trinidad Scorpions are mildly eaten by crazy insects and may be moldy on the inside coz of humidity coz the climate here sux, so I have to cut each one open and see if it's good. And I'll be crushin' 'em into flakes anyway. Cutting few very hot peppers without gloves is fine, cutting a full bucket will result in a very uncomfortable burning in your hands for several hours, and like nothing can make it go away ))) Even tho you wash your hands so clean that you can even rub your eyes, the burning is still there under your skin. By the way rubbing your eyes with Bhut Jolokia is not that bad. Although it's still bad) When making hot sauce or frying a decent batch of hot peppers it feels like my apartment is sprayed with pepper spray instead of air freshener. But it's not so deadly. It's like being mildly pepper sprayed) And last tip don't age whiskey with extremely hot peppers to give it some spice. The whiskey for sure will be spicy, but as you swallow it, the very uncomfortable burning will start in your stomach and whiskey will try to get back out the same way it got in)))
Hi Chris, I would like to know when I dehydrate my peppers in a dehydrator an vacuum seal them, and When I take them out of the freezer will they still be crunchy or soft? Thanks
Place on wire rack over a sheet pan (elevated so air circulars) 180 -200 degree oven overnight (10 hrs) You can make powder or flakes ***Wear Gloves and a MASK because of the gas fumes*** Store- in an air tight Jar, Zip lock bag I fry them in Oil first______Then fry anything in the same Oil for flavor And EAT the pepper with the FRIED food Meat, Eggs, Veggies......Whatever???? ------>Thanks for posting HOW to dry peppers

sorry frozen may not work (they will go soggy when thawed). I did this at 180, so you're good at 170

What happens to the oil during dehydration? Does it drip on the rack?

most definitely. Cut them though so it will go faster

How do you get the oven clean after, the heat from the peppers leaves a strong residue?

Hi there Chris. I am in Fergus and go to St Jacobs Market all the time .Are we neighbours??? hahaha Love the videos
we are. Thinking about going up there this weekend for eggplant, tomatoes, peaches etc for recipes.
@@caribbeanpot Got some beets and peppers today to do some pickling of the beets and roasting the red peppers.

Correction: Carolina Reapers used to be the hottest pepper in the world at 1+ millions SHU. Now it is the pepper X at 3.18 million SHU.
But that still isn't official is it? Just word on the street.
I was thinking of doing them in my barbecue, As I have my brother and father in the house Under medical conditions. What is your opinion
Hey Chris, after hydration do you have to store it in the fridge or leave them in those jars outside?
no fridge. in a cool place in your home.
Thank you 👍🏼👏🏼
Do I store in d fridge or not
Hi Chris, I would like to know when I dehydrate my peppers in a dehydrator an vacuum seal them, and When I take them out of the freezer will they still be crunchy or soft? Thanks
If you freeze them they’ll come out soft when you thaw them
Vacuum seal them in a jar or bags. Store them in your pantry.
If you dehydrated them and then froze them, I don’t think they would soggy. There’s no moisture. But then, there’s no need to freeze if dehydrated.
To store them should they be kept in a dark dry place or in the cabinet. Just want to know.
doesn't matter really (from my experience). Just not in the fridge.
Can I still do this if my peppers are frozen!!!!$
Lekker man
I just did a scotch/ghost flake
I have some of that from a couple yrs back. Lasts a long time
Carolina Reaper? in an oven? Nothing else? Wild man.
add anything else you want to dehydrate
Place on wire rack over a sheet pan (elevated so air circulars)
180 -200 degree oven overnight (10 hrs)
You can make powder or flakes
***Wear Gloves and a MASK because of the gas fumes***
Store- in an air tight Jar, Zip lock bag
I fry them in Oil first______Then fry anything in the same Oil for flavor And EAT the pepper with the FRIED food
Meat, Eggs, Veggies......Whatever????

Emphasis gloves and grabs them bare handed tee hee. A rebel.
Ten hours? I can't with my kids in the house I will keep looking for another method
You take the seeds out so you can plant them for next season and not have to buy more seeds or plants
