I tested World of Warcraft retail on the new Mac mini M4 Base model! Game is running on 2k. You can see the FPS in the right bottom corner. I liked how it performs, let me know if it’s worth it!
Thanks for showing the 10 settings. Should have shown it again in Dorgonal lol. I have base M2 Studio and it drops to the 50s on 4K Ultra settings. But get out in the fields and it averages around 85-100 fps. But some advice. You do not need 160 FPS in a mmo. I would go to like 7 or 8 out of 10 and get a solid 70-80 and make the game look way better. You can always set it at 5 for raids.
12+Gb ram used?damn....now I'm really thinking of getting the 24GB model because I want to play WoW as well + multiple programs and chrome tabs open simultaneously!

Currently I have a 1440p and that looks solid and slick, but wanting to upgrade in the long term. Also, do you think the RAM is enough 12/16gb used without any background things running. 4k would take minus 5ish FPS of what we get right now, okay on mid settings but noticeable on max. This base model is a little beast, ofc more ram would be great but the upgraded model with more ram is starting to get in a different price range. If you ask me you have two option, either get the base model and juice this little beast to its limits, or pay 3x and get the M4 Pro model and future proof yourself for a decent time.
What? Not even close lol I have a 3080ti and I do not cap at 60 fps in new zones using average/mediocre graphic settings. My fps are around 80/90 with a graphical quality set at 9. Copium is really strong within the Mac gaming community 😅 Still not bad performances for an improved mobile chip, but definitely not a gaming machine.
@@GenomicDNA Only setting 9? playing with setting 10 and raytracing on with my 6950xt and i get 60fps fps in dornogal and between 60 to 100 in the new zones at 3440x1440. Shouldn't you have way more fps on max settings whit your nvidia graphics card?
Ok sorry for late reply I had to get a new monitor. So here is what have experienced so far. To be honest I never had a computer that could do max graphics so it’s all new and I’m like oh it’s suppose to look that way. I get 90-140 FPS on max graphics at lvl 10. I did it on my Druid and did a comparison of what I was running on my M1 at lvl 3. So I started at the legion Druid class hall. At lvl 3 and then maxed it out. Ground clutter was amazing and then I looked up at the sun to see sun rays shining thru. I then went to Ardenweald my M1 got 8-15 fps flying in. On the M4 pro It never dropped below 87-90. I was a bit confused flying up it was the 1st time seeing the atmosphere affects. On my M1 is was always a clear nights view up I wasn’t expecting volumetric clouds and mist effects. Did the bosses in tanaris and was wowed by the sun scattering halo behind the boss. I made a video buts it long at 22 mins of me doing things very unscripted on my Druid. Might make a shorter one.
On another note. Going max graphics spins up the fans to full blast and very noticeable fan noise every 10 mins or so. Because of the smaller enclosure its gets a lil hot. I downgraded from a 49 inch curved monitor to a 30 inch flat to achieve the ability to record with the elgato 4K. That 49 inch pushed a lot of pixels.
I got mb pro m1 14” and it gets loud when I play wow with it. I think mac mini has better circulation or fans or both because I couldnt hear the fans even if I push it to its limits.
Yes this one is the 256 gb model. What I do is I have a 2 tb M.2 ssd connected externally. I ran the games both on the native and external, couldnt notice a difference. There is also an option of moving home folder to an external drive, which is what I want to do next.

@@kantux1 All good. My macbook puts out 120fps and turns on the coolers when it gets hot, cooling is decent, not too hot, good thing I bought 16 inches

This is pretty good for it's price. It's basically equivalent to a 3060ti or 4060

I have a 3070ti and I don't have that kind of performance lol I have 7 settings in WoW and I get an average of 50 fps in new zones.

Getting mine set up today. Certain raids and game zone settings caused my M1 mini to drop to 12fps. lol wonder what the improvement will look like.

its funny because im a m4 max user and the only game i play is WoW and i have to say it runs on 4k with 120fps and you can hear the fans on it xD

wow is only 80GB. plenty room. put pictures on external, not the game
@@mbvx7 the IOS also keep space and wow in the end there is not so much free space for other games and stuf external it will be option.
I am actually running this from an external high performance ssd. Runs well and didn’t notice a difference between running it locally and externally.

I didn’t measure the temperature. It gets pretty hot after a while but no fan sound at all.
Are you using mouse keybinds? I cant get the mouse side buttons to work in WoW on my mac mini.

Macbooks will always get heated imo because of its nature. I got an mb pro m1 pro, it gets really hot and loudy.

blizzard didn't make a mac version of D4. its the first diablo to not be on mac. (microsoft .... ) POE2 has a Mac Version of their game.
