Ma’am, in the color opponent theory, how is it that red color (or red cones) excite a ganglion cell while green color (or green cone) inhibits the same ganglion cell given that all cones release the same excitatory neurotransmitter ‘glutamate’?

@@insomnia6963 No detailed video - though I will tell you how it acts - sorrounding cones excite horizontal cells which in turn release inhibitory neurotransmitter which inhibit the ganglion cell

May be ! May be not ! Even trichromats have different perception for different colours. So may be what appears same to me, may appear different to others. However tetrachromats have a more varied perception of colours. So both may be an explanation for this discrepancy. However, it needs to be corroborated from your day to day experience with others.

No, with trichromats also, perception varies. Also I should have used a white background on whole rather than yellow..that’s a error on my part

Signal in the center is opposed by sorrounding cones if they are stimulated…that’s it…hence surround affects center colour perception
