Bob thanks for honest in depth review. Initial thoughts were it looked good, but way too big in size for our 6m motorhome. It would take up too much space, and as you say, it's a faff with the pipes going out the window. In principle, it's good but not for us. Again, thanks for the review.
It works better if you let it outside and just pump the cold air to the inside with the hose. It consums less than 200w on eco-mode, pumping ice-cold air of 6 C° which unheard of in the industry.
Thank-you for your honest review. In general, in my opinion, there are too many sales pitches of the ECO Flow etc. products but you at least present a fair an honest review,
we have the roof mounted Truma Aventa Comfort fitted to our Caravan and we think its a brilliant bit of kit keeps us cool oh and not forgetting our Labrador who really does suffer in the heat
We have this wave 2 A/C unit and what I've done with the pipes is used the window vent that comes with it and modified it slightly and fitted it to the passengers door window.works a treat.it also holds the pipe in place without the pipe moving all over.the unit fits between the cab seats and the delta2 fits in the passenger foot well.all out of the way.great piece of kit.to charge the delta 2 we have 400 watt portable solar panels.thanks for the very informative vlog.
Nice review, Bob. I bought my zero breeze after comparing it with the wave 2. I love the portable way it is! Simply pop in a battery and it's off to go, instead of recharging the heavy wave 2.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Thank you, Bob! I have tried using it as a heater by directing the rear exhaust hose towards the area I want to heat. LOL, it's a trick I learned from other users. Yeah, I agree, the cooling capacity is the main thing, but it works for me in 90°F. So I guess everyone just needs to sort out their priorities when choosing a portable AC.
We bought the wave 2 so we can use in the home and the van. We fashioned a bit of backerboard with a hole to fit one of the windows so it now slides in place. But, after slightly disappointing results on a hot weekend in York, we re-read the instructions and it clearly shows both pipes being used not just for the heat exchanger but also the air con function 🤷🏻♀️ so think we will have to try and see if this improves cooling times. Thanks for the video Bob.
Good video bob and interesting but we have just had the compact truma fitted in our swift and are very pleased with it cost was £2000 it cools very quickly goes to 16 oc night mode is very quiet keep cool and enjoy your travels Regards to Jenny and little poppy
I think I will just stick with our roof mounted Truma Adventa Comfort, lot less fuss and no pipes and cables all over the place. I also noticed that our AC produces a lot of water and it drains down the side of the van so expect a shower when it does this. Well done for a very thorough review and not biased at all. It must have taken you ages to plan and deliver.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo No wonder you get annoyed at the whinging b***ers who complain about ads etc. Your quality and dedication reflects ethos of being thorough and transparent.
Thanks for the review Bob. However, it seems to be a lot of faffing about and quite expensive. Personally, I'd rather pay the extra cost to have a proper air conditioning unit installed in a motor home.
I'm using my W2 in our Living room. Using Top rear Vent to Exhaust hot air out with the 5 inch hose. Thru the Glass Sliding Door with board and hose attachment. All sealed tight. We are not using the Intake 6 inch hose. This makes compressor works more efficient. Chill Fan#2 or #3 works fine. Not using Max setting much.. Insulate the Hot 5inch Hose is VITAL. 55F degree cooling air is common. Often 30F degrees cooler than ambient room temp. We attach Delta 2 Max to W2. Feed about 600w Solar from Array. W2 often draws 350w to 450w. By time Sun is down. Delta 2 Max 2000w battery is charged up. We don't use the wall power charger much into Delta 2 Max
I used an EcoFlow Wave 2 last summer, my Camper Van is maybe half way in the shade, but the cooling ability of it, was just barely not enough through the summer. Hard Sell over a typical 800W single hose portable AC if you have shore power, I think it's more efficient in general though, it does have to run longer as it can't keep up with the Sun where I'm out, so it probably evens out.
For us, the best thing is the portability of the unit. We've used it in our lounge at home on those days when it has been hot recently. I'm not convinced I'd ready to spend £1500 plus fitting on an roof mounted unit for those few days when it's actually warm.
Great review. We have the delta 2 / wave 2 bundle. We've used it in the house so far and it is great too cool down smallish rooms. We have an A Class and my plan is to build a piece of wood which will act as a template for the two pipes to go out the sliding window at the front. As you say it takes up space but the ability to use it when you don't have electric or take it in to the house is a real winner in my opinion.
I had good success with 3 x 220w panels in Serial Array feeding the Delta. Have hit 499 watts feed to Delta 500w mppt. Use Delta to W2 and run mostly free with Solar.
@@larrywong7834 which 220 watt panels are you using? Most of them exceed 20 VOC and therefore 3 of them can’t be used without exceeding the unit’s 60V limit.
Great review. We have roof mounted air-con in our Vantage Sol, which the previous owner fitted. If I was starting again I would go for 2 Maxair fans. Most of our trips are to France an Spain in the summer. It can't have been that hot, Jenny is still wearing her jeans
Lol, she forgot her light trousers! I would add that I went out for a while and left Jenny in the motorhome, we had the problem with it not draining and it went off, quickly heated up in the motorhome, even with our max air on. I don't think you can beat AC to keep it cool.
Hi Bob, I just bought a Wave 2 and have been testing it out. On AC mode, mine makes a little noise other than just the blowing air. Not super loud but noticeable mostly on the lower blower setting. I have heard the same noise from window AC units before so maybe it's normal (but those could be old units with issues). From what I gather, it may be just normal sound of refrigerant passing through the evaporator. If you put your ear up to the front filter area of your unit, do you hear that sound too? I only hear air blowing in your video but maybe you can hear the other sounds when up close to the front filter. Any info is appreciated.
No, I don't hear anything other than the fans whiring. There is an occasional noise when the drain function is working, maybe a pump or similar. The previous unit had a bit of a rattle from the front grill.
Great honest review Bob, looks a bit complicated and quite heavy for the van. Plus the price, by the time you buy batteries etc. I think if I need one I will opt for having one fitted in the roof. Thanks Steve
My thoughts exactly, in the awning perhaps?.... would it work as well as presumably its progressively cooler inside a van and then working less hard?... but outside with 1 pipe in and allowed to drain as it needs would seem the way to go..?
Hi Bob. You mention in the captions that sleep mode is set at 26 degrees, which seems very hot - is that adjustable to a lower temperature while keeping the dB level down? Thanks for the very useful review.
You can adjust it down, but it may have to work harder to keep a cooler temperature. I tended to put it on 23C at night which seems a useful compromise, it's often the humidity that's the uncomfortable bit at night, so it helps with that.
Hi Bob, We watch all of your videos on TH-cam but I didn’t know how to send you a personal message on there. We have been looking at getting the Ecoflow Wave 2 a/c unit for our MH (and home). We were going to wait until the show in October at the NEC to see if they had some offers on. However, some of the stockists are doing good prices now (c £850 for the basic unit). When I see this, I normally think suppliers are getting rid of old stock prior to the launch of a new product in the coming season. So, my question is, are you aware of a new version (maybe the Wave 3) and what additional new or improved features could it possibly have?
