That’s exactly it. Shy, socially-awkward neurodivergent x narcissistic mean-girl bully. I was ALSO the former in MOST of my middle-and-high-school “friendships.”
I relate so much to Krystle, her taste in anime and music, her behavior, etc...I dated a narc and it was pretty much dating the mean girl bully. like they get off on making you uncomfortable, making you feel ugly and different (in a bad way) they praise other people in front of you, in a way they've never praised you, and if you have some weird talent (like Krystle with her rhythm games) they will dismiss it and make you feel weird about it (she did the same to Beck, which I also relate to) but if some better looking person, or someone they want to win over, they'll praise that same talent on the other person, Narcs are a horrible nightmare, specially if you're the weird kid or neurodivergent
Triggering how they tell you who you are, what you feel and you just have to go along with it so there’s no tension 😂 I don’t miss those toxic school ‘friendships’

I’m shy and when people point it out it just makes me worse.
I used to be, too. Like literally unable to speak in front of a crowd.
The shyness wasn't the bad thing, but it was amplified by this crippling anxiety.
I dropped out of school, fled the country. Which in hindsight was the best thing to do against the anxiety.
Anyway, what I wanted to say is that you can learn overcoming the shyness. As mentioned, my case was pretty bad, but I managed to grow with it, do small steps and today I would say I am an average speaker. Not the natural talent that makes jokes and is a good entertainer on the side. But I can coherently convey information and stay calm enough to stay coherent and make a professional impression.
Just do small steps. A little eye contact to a stranger, a smile more than necessary - it makes you a likeable person. And you will like yourself more, too.

I must have seen the live stream breakup announcement more than 50 times at this point and it never ceases to amaze me how thoughtful and self aware Beck is about why they aren't and can't be a good partner and all ALR does is throw shade.
