Interesting that it was shot in 2.8K and yet comes off just as clean as movies shot in full 4K released in the pass 4-5 years
This is still the best John Wick in the series and I bought the Blu-ray, which was one of the first discs to have included a Dolby Atmos track. Can't believe it's been almost a decade ago!

Revisit all the older titles and see how dynamic they are on your new Home theater system!
I just did the same thing with Overlord 😮 the beginning of the movie gave me panic attacks it was so dynamic 😂
It's a thing I do too, every time I upgrade. Though my upgrades are a bit less pricey than Shane's, lol. Aiming for my first OLED.

I have the 77 inch C1 but watch all my movies on my 4k laser projector on a 120 inch screen.
The Bathhouses scene is in my top 5 scenes to demo my home theatre. The slow mo when John Wick pulls out his gun and fires has so much low end extension, I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned.

I just watched this movie with my wife last night and the Atmos on the rain scenes are spot on. At least on my setup it is. The picture quality in spots looked a little blurry and not intentionally blurry but as if it was a 3D version and you didn't have the 3D glasses on. Regardless the movie is a must own if you collect physical media or want something to show off your setup.
Are you still using the original panasonic 9000 4k player or did you need to get a second. Basically im after a long lasting player mines on the blink i think

I can’t believe the audio only 9.0? At least 9.2.🥴
I remember when I go watch it on theaters for the first time, the cemetery scene when it starts raining, I feel it like it was raining on me, I was shocked and amazed, that was my first Atmos experience... Now I can't fully have that same experience in my home theater because the Atmos speakers I have are not mounted in the ceiling 😢
My Hong Kong standard bluray only had a dolby atmos track. But there is a difference between the American home release and the Hong Kong home release or so I've been told. HK release was bass-heavy while the US version was more spatial.

i guess its a straight 10 for audio....the finale with rain is an atmos demo....u missed that scene !

Shane, John Wick is one of the finest reproduction in terms of sound.
Video too, but sound is kind of reference which again proves the sound output depends on how well the original source is mastered!

Ha, I was revisiting the same. Now I have 6 height channels, and I can see all of the heights are used very actively during action scenes, this is where the Trinnov shines, the best example will be midway. However, for John Wick, after A/B comparison, I still prefer my old Datasat RS20i, the gun fires simply sound sharper,more punchy, and overall a layer more cinematic

Although I only have a soundbar (HW-Q90R, which I don't think is bad, especially since I got it used for ~$300), I still love watching movies on it rather than going to the theater (except for Dolby Cinemas which have really good setups, or so I hear :/, I'm too broke to try or there's no movies I want to see when I do have money). John Wick 1 through 3 were the first movies I got for UHD Blu-ray and the Atmos effects (especially in 2 and 3) blew me away. They're not as good as say Blade Runner 2049, or Guardians of The Galaxy 1 or 2, but they're still the first movies I noticed a difference in having up-firing speakers for, and what sold me on actually getting the blu-rays when I can.
