- Hello, my name is Shelby and I am a potter based in Victoria, Australia.
In this vlog, I am taking you through my third week of prepping for two major events. This week I really feel the small kiln dramas. I have my finished work bottlenecking and its making it tricky to keep track of where I am up too. I make a bunch of Aussie Animals, Mushroom Butter dishes and a series of Cottage Wildflowers. Throughout this video I take you behind the scenes of all parts of the process with lots of Timelapse's. The Timelapse's make it a little easier to keep focused on the work at hand whilst being able to show you what I am up too.
I hope you like these videos as a little something different whilst I prepare and I will have my regular goodness back soon once I get through some of this work!
I’m glad you know what’s realistic for you. Working 7 days a week as some people are suggesting is just going to burn you out and take all the fun out of your work. I love your florals.

Shelby - I do love the mystery molds, they're how I got to know you. But I'm loving these vlogs! And I don't watch a lot of vlogs. I'm loving pulling with you for these big gigs, seeing the studio come together, and we got a bigger kiln! And most of all I enjoy seeing your 'own' work, start to finish.
Shelby, you got a screaming deal on that kiln. Yes, kilns are very expensive. Good job and glad it went to a home where it will be used and appreciated.

Awasome I was wondering when you were going to get a big kiln. You totally deserve it with the amount of work that you've been doing to have a kiln that properly will fit all your pieces that you need to fire. Your great artist and you deserve the proper tools to do your job and not stress yourself out.
It is always amazing and awesome to upgrade you basics and spaces to do ones arts. congratulations and keep going.

this was one of the most lovely of your videos to watch. i love your excitement, i love your new kiln and i especially love seeing so many of your completely original pieces. i wish so hard i could see you at your craft fair this weekend but alas i am half a world away. your floral sets are some of my favourite pieces ever, i remember seeing you do those golden flowers last week and being completely taken with them. if i were there i would buy and entire setting of them im sure!

I have a glass kiln and confess it is just a hobby. It takes many hours to heat up, hold the temp and cool down. Can’t wait to see you first glazed pieces from your kiln!

I got a similar kiln but really old when I first started my home studio. I didn’t have a digital controller, only a kiln sitter. My kiln died 3 years ago, and I haven’t replaced it. So my hobby has stagnated. You are inspiring me to restart!! ❤❤

Congratulations on your new kiln!!! I love firing - it's like Christmas every time we open it up once it's cooled down. My only issue is that for me, it seems to take forever to finish/dry enough to fill it up so that we can fire it!

Just so you can learn from my mistakes and i am sure you already know, but try and get your props on top of each other. I didn't when I first started using my new second-hand kiln, and I literally killed a couple of shelves learning the hard way unfortunately 🤦♀️
