Hello, Anja! ❤️ A bit of explanation on Stenka Razin 😉. He was a leader of Don Cosacs uprising against tzar back in 17th century. A song Volga, Volga has him as a main hero. I still remember my grandma singing it, especially the words “Volga, Volga, mat’ rodnaja, ti ne videla podarka ot Donskova Cosaca”. Hugs from Slovenia👐
Somebody has messed up the English translation...unfortunately. Translation doesn't do justice to this song. This is a wonderful version. As a little boy, I listen to my uncle sing this to me as a goodnight song in our language...so long ago and so sweet memory. Thank You.
My father, who would have been 96 yesterday, told me that his Russian mother also sang this song to him as a Lullaby! Difficult to understand the Russian soul!
Because his man said he is becoming soft, and basicly unfit to lead them in their war. Stenka Razin is a real historical figure, and an intresting one at that, tho that particular story about him is just a legend.

It’s an equirhythmic adaptation. It doesn’t *translate* very directly, but keeps the story, rhyme, and amount of syllables.

Wonderful melody, rousing interpretation, disturbing lyrics.

나는 노래가사를 이해는 못하지만, 굵은 바리톤 음성과
노래의 가락은 대단히 훌륭하다. 아름다운 서정이 있는 가운데
장중하고 위대한 서사적 내용이 전달되어 온다. 훌륭하다.
I feel sorry for the princess, still different times.

Great! Beautiful.
Mon grand-père chantait cette chanson avec la même passion. Il avait une voie douce et forte.
