BEcause was my first, too! Loved the choreo so much that I learned it and boy is it a workout! Justice is a new beast for the choreo *and* singing at the same time. It's a literal push and pull in the chorous and it is such a treat to watch their live performance because Siyeon holds her last notes *while* jumping in the choeo. You can't hear the movement in her voice. That's how good she is. How good they *all* are. ♡
Because of what you said about Dami in the beginning, treat yourself by listening to her solo from Apocalypse: Save Us. It's called "Beauty Full". There is a special clip as well. I'm not saying react just you know in your own time
Nice.. checkout Dreamcatcher's album.. this album with Justice as as you've just heard, specifically their ballad song Fireflies, if you wanna listen to all 7 of them flex their vocals. Lyric video, so you'll know who's singing.
With Siyeon's absence in the performances in Musicshow, Handong sings the first chorus and SuA sings the last. Which group has 7 main vocalists??? (Dami could do it, but she's the only one who doesn't 😆)
If the rest of the members were "regular" K-pop quality the gap up to Siyeon would just be too big, so obviously the rest of the members have to be main vocalist material.
So the thing with Siyeon is that she was the only one belting for a long time since she was the only one who knew how to belt for rock songs safely but Yoohyeon has praised Siyeon's ability to belt without tiring out even at the tail end of the tours. That being said, the other girls started working towards more active vocal roles after dystopia, with them taking rock vocal classes sometime around Vision era and now ALL of them can belt. Dami also has an extremely high note in her collab with Siyeon, its the highest note in the song. Since Siyeon is sitting this comeback out due to anxiety issues SuA is covering her final chorus high notes (as much as I love her but she needs to take rest, you can hear her start to struggle after so many live performances since its a bit too high for her and a bit too much with her own parts as well) while Handong is covering her very first belt. Gahyeon having the second longest high note in the song was not on my 2024 bingo card but I am glad I got it. The girl has been GLOWING.
About Dreamcatcher: Yes, the talent in that group is unbelievable. There is a good reason for InSomnia saying "Stan talent, stan Dreamcatcher!". Justice is part two of a two-part series, the first one is OOTD, which intentionally sounds very differently. Just like ymenehcra for OOTD, an account named 9mynameis1 has been posting messages before the comeback. She posted that her seven friends became obsessed with the crown and have not been responding anymore, which corresponds with the secret diary Siyeon (our powerhouse main vocal, also known as Wolfie) is reading. The text there reads "How are you? I'm worried because you aren't replying." So what we are seeing here is the seven friends (Dreamcatcher) getting rid of their obsession with the crown (materialism, narcicism) by literally destroying it, which makes their friend rejoin them (there is an eighth person joining them near the end). There is also a lot of imagery about death and legendary figures like Valkyries or greek goddesses and legends. Reddit user PaintMeYaBasic has managed to identify these paintings in the MV: Hero by Edward Burne-Jones (from the tale of Hero and Leander), Valkyrie and a Dying Hero by Hans Makart, Hero and Leander by Salvator Rosa and finally "Justice" by Kenyon Cox in the center back. In the tale of Hero and Leander from Greek mythology, Hero is actually a priestess of Aphrodite (Venus in the Roman myths), so that is not the same as the hero who is taken from the battlefield by a Valkyrie in the other painting. But OOTD has the line "I'm Venus, Nephthys, call me a Goddess". It is likely there is a connection. While OOTD was about falling for the temptations of modern life and a satire on narcicism (especially influencers and fast fashion), I believe Justice is telling us to fight those temptations for a better world. It is a call to become a warrior for good in the world and fight the materialism that seems to be the most important thing for many people in the developed countries. You can see JiU break the bonds that hold her down, and we should do the same. Please note that this is just my interpretation. Art can be interpreted in different ways, and other opinions are just as valid as mine. There are also many references to their older MVs in this. The paintings also have a deeper meaning in Chase me, there is a sword in Deja Vu and Scream, the bite into the apple is a callback to BEcause and the tree to the Dystopia trilogy - and so on. There are many more. The 8th figure in the end could also be JiU from Deja Vu, finally breaking the cycle of violence and leading to justice. Musically, I love the song. The guitars in the pre-chorus and chorus are pure heaven (just like Dongie with her wings). It has the right amount of heaviness for me, and it is an anthem and a call to action. I also love that they shortened the pre-chorus by two bars in the second half, throwing us into the chorus early. Justice is a brilliant, epic release, showing everyone that a group can still produce fantastic music and MVs after seven and a half years. I can't help it, I deeply respect these ladies and their whole team.
Oh Laken I didn't know you were a casual somnia! I was just thinking of recommending JUSTICE but didn't know if that was your cup of tea 😅 Edit: also, Siyeon is sitting out promos this time to take a bit of a rest but the other girls do a great job covering her lines in live stages so you should def check those out!
Thanks for checking out Dreamcatchers Justice. I highly recommend checking out the mini-album, Virtuous. It's so freaking good. Siyeon hits those crazy belts all the time and she does them in concerts over and over and makes it look easy. In concerts she'll even extend them and make them longer or add additional flair to how she does it. She's really a monster when she sings live. Subbing in the hopes you'll do a deep dive on their albums. They're all fantastic and the b-sides will show you a bunch of different sides to them.
That *is* Gahyeon in the last chorus. You said you have a crush on her at the beginning and we all knew THAT was coming, it was fun. Siyeon is pronounced she-yawn, with a strong obvious "she" sound at the beginning. The spelling is misleading without knowing the minutae of how Korean writing is interpreted into English letters. She's resting during promotions for "health and stress" and SuA is filling in for her crazy high notes. SuA has been developing her belting for a few years now, testing it out in a cover with Siyeon on Dreamcatcher channel and her solo song, moving up to the bridge in a title track, and now this.
Hi Laken! so glad to see you again, how are you? I-dle are one of my ults groups so i'm happy to watch your reaction✨, this song is a mood! y listen to it before work every morning🤣 but i love what Soyeon did on this one, the instrumental, the musical concept💯 and the album is a chill summer and emotional one, the girls need to relax they are working like crazy!! Thank you for the other reactions! i really like Dreamcatcher too❤
Taeyeon as the crazy woman that put all of her effort to please and get the guy fall for her but after she gets the guy it's no fun anymore for her then she leave it. she is crazy.
And then, there is Dreamcatcher Live Band performance on It's Live. Which is beyond ridiculous how they can sing live like that: 🔗 th-cam.com/video/ZeXZ_ixi58I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KOwcLSzcnIsakfy8
If you haven't already, you absolutely can't miss Dreamcatcher's performance of Justice on "It's live". I wasn't a fan of the song on first listen but that performance changed my mind. th-cam.com/video/ZeXZ_ixi58I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gJf0DEs50ZZlJnmb

Dreamcatcher is a genre !

The "i Sway" album is very laid back but a little emotional too and more vocal focused. I think you'll like it. (G)I-dle fighting!
Dreamcatcher ❤️
