Great film. I'm not sure how I should feel about it, as those are the waters of my youth. While I had the Missouri right in town, the water you boys "discovered" were where I would go. I caught a lot of big rainbows in that lake too. It has a great caddis hatch in the evening. We'd even race up after closing the fly shop to get in some casts as the sun went down behind the front range. I guess I'm happy, since you didn't drop any names. Its been 40 years since I left Montana, but you guys brought me back home again with this, literally!
Agreed, I have run into a few guides on those creeks and on that river. I’m not worried about seeing other people on the water but there’s a reason why the Madison is so highly regulated now.
My favorite time of year is hopper fishing in the west. I haven’t done much fly fishing, but casting a big hopper up by a grassy bank and pulling out a fat cutthroat is seriously the greatest feeling I’ve ever experienced. So stoked to watch this. Keep em coming! You guys are the best
Absolutely incredible guys! I sit here and watch your videos all the time and i just dream of getting out there to Montana one day, it would be a life long dream fulfilled and I would absolutely love to tie a fly on with you one day.....for now ill have to stick to my few times per year trip to NC and the Nantahala. Fish on guys!
Please make a video in the Catskills. You’re story telling through these films is top tier. The birthplace of north American dry fly fishing and great all around fishing. Would love to hear that story told the way you do it
JUST GOT OUT OF THE ARMY! Heading to Wilson Creek for my first fly fishing experience in October, got a sick Air B&B in the mountains. I have been watching your channel every night for like 2 hours getting hyped up bro.. great stuff !
Love your adventures. It makes me explore rivers close and far away as well. I have just one comment, I'm sure this and other videos you produce are viewed by young anglers. And being that I am a fly fishing instructor, I would like to say. ALWAYS WHERE YOUR SUNGLASSES AND HATS WHEN TOSSING A FLY WITH A FLY ROD.......... Other than keep up the good work!
Love you for showing what you are using for flies and rods. Could you do it more in your other videos? It's so nice knowing what works in some areas especially when we don't have time to spend weeks experimenting.
Hey Scotty, this was always one of my favorites! Such a great time of year or at least out west. I am in Calgary AB Canadia on the Bow River, because of the northern thing we are just I mean just seeing our first batches of HOPPERS, so good !! Such a great time of year, great content, try to support you when I can, Thanks!!!
I got sick on my first day in Colorado and we were having an amazing start to our trip, but my energy was low so I had to stop fishing. I feel your pain.
My dude got 'sick' in the middle of the fishing trip and yet...no puns or acknowledgment of how everything is 'so sick dude'? :) Twas too much for me to not point out. love the vids. Nice work.
You guys need to come to oregon. Where i guide we catch steelhead on hoppers and similar patterns. And big like 24 inch big trout. Edit: and I guarantee you have never heard of the places. It ain't the deschutes or popular central oregon fisheries. Totally off the radar.
Love seeing you guys fishing in my state! Ill be heading out there this week! Just make sure to tell everyone about the bears and skin walkers, Montana is starting to get a little too crowded. lol
@@nathanmccormack9717 exactly, It was late season a year or two back I was 9 miles off old trail road 20 miles down logging road and I still saw a California plate scouting. I was like WTF, ya my old holes are not secret anymore!
All of it was accessed through public land and I believe most sections were public. In Montana, if you access a stream from a public spot, you can move up and down the river as long as you stay below the high water mark.
Makes sense u getting sick, wearing a mask is 10 times worse for bacteria viruses etc. And close quarter's on the plane, then 3 days later u get sick or drinking the water over there.......great flick though for sure im jealous
Who wants to see PH round 2?
absolutely
You know damn well we do!
@@WildFlyProductions is that even a question?!
Lets go
We need a short bus diary!
Keep them coming Scotty! You're becoming the GOAT of fly fishing content.

This film was released as a series 3 years ago already. I doubt its really had much effect in that time.
Dude hasn’t fished this river in 30 years and is complaining about this video lmao. Get outta here
@@pecosnick45it's greatly affected the fishery.

Great video went to montana last year caught the salmon fly hatch and did pretty well hope to go back soon
Yes Sir, a river, a stream, a brook, runs trough it.
The big fish always know when you don’t have your net!
You have to come to Newfoundland Canada to fly fish Atlantic salmon.
Ordered that 1st shirt love it. Hope to get that bamboo rod!
Thanks boss!
I envy that you guys wet wade with Chacos. I’m WAY too clumsy. Have to wear wading boots ALWAYS.
@@thelordmcd2872 haha it’s not always ideal but you feel 10x lighter without boots on
You guys should come out to driftless Wisconsin for sure, i suppose, Iowa and Minnesota to lol
That's funny someone from Wisconsin took your campsite as I say you guys should come out to Wisconsin, lol!! I apologize on behalf of Wisconsin!!
Banger thank you 🙏
around 30:40 is the perfect shot!
Nice footage. Hopper fishing is the best. Wet wading in sandals seems like a bad idea though. The potential for injuring your feet is high.
You should go fly fishing for steelhead!

How much of this was fished on public land? Just out of curiosity...
All of it was accessed through public land and I believe most sections were public. In Montana, if you access a stream from a public spot, you can move up and down the river as long as you stay below the high water mark.
Didn’t you come out with the same vid like two years ago
Remastered the series and put it into a full film.

So this was all private? Its such a shame people actually own access to these types of waters.
Some of it was private and some was public, thankfully, you can access private water in MT by getting in at public access and moving up the river.
This. I’ve gotta do this!
Scottie re uploading vids lmao
Thanks for the spot bro! Saw that mountain yesterday driving up north. I’ll be going there next week on my way back down
Merci!
