  • fyi, space on the robot will likely be very limited due to the size of the balls. cad will definitely be important this year

**correction, the robot will NOT have to rotate 60 degrees, much closer to 30 degrees (seemingly more doable)

Good looking CAD model. Can't wait to see it built and demonstrated.

It’ll definitely be a challenge to get this done in a few days

6:07 that top sprocket doesn't affect the reduction at all if the top stage is attached to a point on the chain

good catch…we were definitely a little too tired when we did that. we’ll be adding a sprocket reduction between our motor output shaft and the shaft driving the elevator

Cool design. with the arms you have leaning forward, how will you avoid the ball handler/shooter mechanisms?

We plan to package it all into a zip file of solidworks files at the end of our build (2days from now). we can also upload a step file of the assembly

3:01 how? is there not still a lot of weight on that hook?

definitely also a concern of ours and we don’t know yet if it’ll work. i think it might be less of an issue than it seems in the video-i mentioned in the video that it’ll be 60°, but it’ll actually be closer to 25°. so i think we may be able to pull down on the second bar with the elevator to reduce the weight on the rotating arm. it would definitely be more ideal to use an actuated hook, but i’m not yet sure if we’ll have the time to add that in

@@zoukeepers2431 actually I just realised that the math should work out, if the arms are long enough and draw a large enough arc then when you pull yourself up it should be enough to release the other bar. I originally thought you'd have to use an actuated hook, very interesting idea.

we’ll see how it works out. we’re hoping we can make it work as is
