  • This was our final day in Moab at the Easter Jeep Safari 2021. We decided to go checkout the trail called backwards bill and we quickly ran into a large group from Rock Star Garage. While we were waiting our turn to get up Wipe Out Hill, we witnessed some crazy carnage! Easter Jeep Safari and Moab never disappoint! We're just glad the driver of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon didn't get injured. His Jeep Wrangler was not so lucky! Enjoy!

    I have been in 4 fairly prominent clubs in my life and on more occasions than I can count the members banded together after any and every incident and helped the people like this guy to repair their rig after the fact. in one case we pretty much built a new replacement Jeep for a guy whose old CJ-5 was totalled in a traffic accident. One guy had a rolling chassis, another had an engin, etc etc, ended up being a big upgrade for him.

    Thanks for sharing, i watch jeep roll over videos mostly to try to educate and get better at wheelin and spotting.
    As far as the "try to impress others" comment, I want to layer on your verbiage that yes there is "group pressure" that comes with wheeling in front of folks and it's really hard to not get caught up in the moment and rush things.
    I think as a community, it helps as well to remind the driver and ourselves to take their time and go at their pace. Don't rush it and it's okay, when i wheel... i am prepared for delays and potentially heading back the way i came because that's just part of it.

    everyone blaming the driver (yes he hit the gas out of panic but im sure tons of people would do the same), but im blaming the spotter. the line was incorrect for how low the jeep was and it wound up high-centering which caused it to pivot and flip. the spotter should have picket a better line.

    • @RedRockCrawlers
      @RedRockCrawlers  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree it wasn't a good line and the short wheelbase just adds to the problems.

    • @libowang2954

      Not a single 3 pedal driver would’ve done that. Because they constantly have to be proactive on gearing, throttle vs actually avoiding spoiling the turbo, and using engine braking to their advantage.

      imho, it looked like a bad line up to the obstacle in the first place which the spotter should have had him back up and correct, followed by oversteer to the right which the spotter may not have seen but should have been looking for; all preceded by questionable tire selection for the terrain and failure to air said questionably streetish tires down.
      Kind of a perfect storm of newbism...

    • @Colorado4x4
      @Colorado4x4 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I am not one to judge and don’t want to be a web wheeler, armchair warrior because there are too many out there so we don’t need another one! I will just say from my experiences. I don’t like to wheel with big crowds. I’m not into the crowd Potato Salad Hill type things. Even with all of these people watching in this video it can make a person feel nervous and pressured. As the spotter, I would take the time to walk down and talk to the driver for a minute and get an idea how they are feeling about trying it. I have been fortunate to wheel over the years with an awesome group of guys that don’t pressure but they encourage and help a driver learn their limits and drive to the best of their abilities. I always tell our group when going out that if they see something odd, weird or have a sick feeling about something to speak up. If you see something say something! The last thing I ever want to hear is “yep, I saw that roll over coming” 🤘😬🤘

      Actually, one of the first spotters I've seen in a YT video who gives spot on directions which were even good enough to help a novice.. If you listen closely the spotter tells the driver to bump the ledge then let off as soon as the rear tires were up. Having been in similar situations as both driver, observer and spotter, I also realize the driver may have been kinda forced to keep his foot pressed on the accelerator just in a natural state of trying to maintain his own balance within the cab. I've seen a lot of that and have done it myself, so I know it can happen. The driver may have also thought it was within his ability, and if given a second try may have went right up. He was at least confident enough in his own ability to at least try it.

    You reference the 2 door Jeeps several times in a negative context. Why the hate for the original jeep size thats been running on these types of trails from way back.. you mention the 2 door before the roll over, but that didn't happen because of 2 doors. It more about the steering direction and bad approach setup.
    You also say that 2 doors wouldn't be good on that uphill slanted flat turn, again any jeep could get sideways tippy on off-camber turns given they are the same width. Just weird that new jeepers think the original jeep size are less capable now that wagons and limos run the trails... 🤔

    • @RedRockCrawlers
      @RedRockCrawlers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i'm not hating the 2 door. but the original jeep was not at all the same wheel base as a modern 2 door jeep. All i'm saying is the shorter wheelbase is not ideal for steep climbs as shown by this rollover. There are however other advantages to the short wheelbase, but not in this situation.
