- Infosys Chairman Nandan Nilekani says that the reduction in headcount in the information technology (IT) sector is due to a slowdown in discretionary spending, not Artificial Intelligence (AI).
He believes AI can be transformational for India's digital public infrastructure, such as Aadhaar and UPI.
In an interview with CNBC-TV18, he discussed the potential of AI in India and addressed concerns about its impact on jobs.
Nilekani explained that AI has immense potential to enhance services like education, healthcare, and agriculture, and highlights ongoing projects such as Bhashini and AI4Bharat, which aim to make AI a digital public good.
