The ice cream reminded me of a crazy flavor pairing. In college, some of my guy friends were messing around with flavors and what they had on hand because what else do you do as a poor college student. They discovered that saltines topped with a bit of vanilla ice cream and drizzled with siracha sauce tasted really good. I would randomly catch them eating it after that. It's a Nordic thing. Lingonberries are high in benzene which is a natural preservative, because of the long dark winters there aren't many fresh things or sources of vitamin C. So lingonberries were used to help preserve many foods and crushed lingonberries were added to many meals (people didn't know about vitamins back then, but they knew some foods helped to keep people from getting sick).
I've never had lingonberries in Ikea, can't believe the jam is of good quality. The real version of lingonberry jam isn't that sweet, it's sour, only little sugar is added and it's quite loose. In Finnish it's called puolukkasurvos, puolukka=lingonberry and survos=rough mash. It's often eaten with meat, like with our version of blood pudding or with reindeer stew.

For people who miss some flavours but they either don't have the right ingredients (or money to buy the pricey stuff) to create a specific dish or can't eat something due to allergies or other dietary restrictions. Recreating something with other whole foods would help avoid very processed imitations. For example, I feel like smoked salmon and mozzarella together taste like a hot dog sausage.

You’re right! The jerky with the raspberry jam wins best of show. A long time ago, when I was very young, my grandfather introduce the jerky/jam combo to me. He grew up in Maine USA. When they would catch a deer, the meat they did not use immediately was preserved, some of it by making jerky. I loved it! I was five years old at the time, but I’ve been eating jerky and jam ever since. I’ve served it to guests in my home, and they look at me with that “you’ve got to be kidding” look on their faces. I’m sure they’re thinking, without saying, “Eddie has really gone off the edge this time!” But they all end up loving it.
