LozzerGuide It has acceptable penetration. If it is only 160 mm, things would be much much better. But nevertheless, that tank is still very good.

While you are right i didn't mention the KV-13, the armour is about the same as the A-44.

QB, thanks for the info, but I was a little disappointed you only showed Good Match-Up games, and did not show how it handles in a difficult match up like VS Tier 9 tanks.
hey QB, why dont you use tank inspector like jingles sometimes do, its very handy, and you can see the effective armor from angles

QB you forgot that the KV-13 has 120mm of frontal armor, so I don't think this is the best armored tier 7 medium.
This has 150mm.

I loved this tank when I was going for the 416, so much fun, I'm now at the 430 II
I found the A-44 lacking but the 416 and 430 are INCREDIBLE!
Especially the 430! I've got 1,130 average exp. per battle with it and even stock it's a monster (top gun is crappy T-54 gun)
The T-54 gun is pretty good.

I simply loved the A-43, so finding this A-44 to be nothing like it I was pretty disappointed at first, specially with the gun and the poor gun depression. I had alot of trouble figuring out how to drive this tank. Of all the tanks I have had the pleasure to try so far, this is by far the one that requires the most skill. I am still struggling at times but overall I get a better feel for it now.
I think the largest positive to it is, that it open up the russian med tech tree better than going through T-43, T-44.
I would recommend to try it out on test server before grinding it - just so you know what is in wait. I had for one had an unpleasant surprise unlocking it.
I am enjoying this tank. I found this refreshing after I used to watch it so much before I had the tank. I use a wet ammo rack while i train up safe stoage, and it has helped allot. Hardly any fires. That aim time is hard to deal with. I bounce allot of shots. really a great tank, and I think i would take it over the t43, kv13, panther, or t20
1 - the gun is RNG as hell, the gun already tells you what the tank wants to do -> exactly.. brawling
2 - The armor is very good, not OP, but very good
3 - Ammo-Rack, Engine and Driver gets knocked out/killed 24/7
QB said what you have to know about this tank BUT I would prefer one bottom-tiered game in the quick tank review considering that a lot of ppl just ignore the "Replay-only"-Vids

Just got my A-44, and I am having trouble with the stock guns, can't wait to get the 107
If you unlock the T-150 first, you have the top gun and engine already unlocked when you get to the A-44. It's pretty boss :)
Robert Gaudet You can also unlock the 107mm with the KV-2.
I'm working my way up to the A-44 now. I was very fond of the KV-13 but I sold it in disgust because of the non-existent gun depression. So once the new Russian medium line opened up I took advantage and bought the T-34 back to grind it out. I truly hope that it's as good as people say it is.
Its good only if you got dem skillz.
Why play russian tanks if you don't like having no gun depression
Most of them are OK +Aaron Goessler, the KV-13 is just terrible.
Also, while the A-44 can't equip a vertical stabiliser, it does technically have excellent suspension in regards to reticule bloom (not to mention terrain resistance).
The value is 0.16, lower than any medium up to tier 7, excepting the M4A3E8 with a stabiliser (and equal to the A-43). The Comet for example, with a stabiliser equipped, is still higher at 0.176.
It's the gun's bad base accuracy and aim time that cause the problems, rather than the tank itself. :-P
(Note that the A-43 with ZiS-4 is extremely accurate on the move for a tier 6 medium tank.)
I love/hate it was not a painful grind to the obj416. As it stands its part of the few tanks that holds a permanent slot in my garage for being a very fun to play med with a love/hate gun x3

Got that same type of double ram kill in my pz 3 once. It was amazing. Might just have to head for this Russian medium line.
This tank's got versatility, it's the true all around tank. Master of all trades, you have the dpm 76 and the alpha 107. You have speed comparable to a light tank. You have armor beaten only by the panther and kv13. You have a rear turret for side scraping and fast traverse for angling. It can snipe, it can brawl, it can hull down. Baby it's whatever you want it to be
But then you have the horrid gun depression and glaring weak point, and also, this tank can meet e75 and t54 s
Guillaume Lainey and you can meet the same set of tanks in a tiger or a kv-3. Here's where your advantages come in, you're in a tank that's almost as mobile as the vk16.02 leopard, you're armored enough to fight tier 8s, your gun can either shred soft targets or put huge holes in them depending on preference, you can side scrape, your only, and I mean only glaring weakness is gun depression. You have a tank that is the true jack of all trades and master of none with it's only real incapability being gun depression and maybe sniping depending on your gun choice. This is a tank as adaptable as you are, you can't play it using just one gimmick because it had many tricks up its sleeve, so I say to you get gud.
You aren't as tough as a kv-13 so what, you're faster and hit harder and that's yours to abuse, you aren't as accurate as a panther so you get closer using yor maneuverability or just side scrape and fight him anyway, you're heavy enough to ram other mediums and fast enough too, light tanks are your lunch. You can circle some heavy tanks, they're your lunch if you're close although, this is where gundepression IS and issue, so you're better off just flanking them or doing a hit and run.
If it rams that well, I think I would had gone with controlled impact on the driver. It is hard to figure out which skill to trade out though. If the engine seems to start a lot of fires, then you need preventative maintenance. You have 4 other crew members for repairs at least. Then again I forgot sixth sense on my Chaffee at first, so I am not the best at crew training, haha.
I come to watch this video as im starting to grind with my A-44 and during watching a ran a 6 kill 3k damage game in it, exhilaratingly fun
I came up on German tanks and usually prefer long range combat. A trusted Clanmate also didn't much care for the A 44. On top of that I completely despised the previous tank (A 43). With all this I approached this tank with some trepidation and.....I really like it. I still tend to fight at range too much (hey I was a hardcore German tanker for a long time) but my time grinding for and using the Maus has stood me in good stead with this tank as side scraping with a rear mounted turret is nothing new to me. The gun isn't all bad and the mobility is very good. Despite it's disadvantages and the fact this tank is not my usual type I've really been enjoying it.

I love so much the A-44! More fun with it than my objet 416
Good tank if you are top tier. As almost any other tank. Imagine these games if you were middle tier and every shot penned you instead. With the rearmounted gun and the really bad depression you often put yourself in harms way to get some shots. A-44 is a pretty hard tank to play.
+Artefact41 A44 and 416 are TDs in the medium tank line. Armor performs better when you are far enough back that they can't target weak points, and if you can "pre-aim" the a44's gun a bit.
After playing the A-44 all the way through I would say it was a love/hate relationship with this tank. I had some great games with this tank. It's fast and can do some serious damage on the enemy tanks. Plus the armor is pretty good too. I had some nice 5+ tank killing matches with this tank. But this tank really ANNOYED me to no end. The biggest problem I had with this tank that never gets mentioned in any reviews that I've watched is that this tank gets tracked so easily and ALOT! So many times I would have full or almost full health on my tank and an enemy tank would track me and then the enemy team would start attacking. A lot of times I would fix my tracks and try to move only to get tracked again and again and DIE. This happened SO MANY times. And I'm not one who rushes out there like a dummy. I try to play very strategic. And then you've got the issue with the aim time. I missed so many easy shots due to having to wait for my freaking gun to aim. Very aggravating. And then the reload is pretty bad too. When you get into a dog fight you gotta make sure you've got some back up close by. The one thing mentioned in all the reviews that didn't seem to be a problem with me (or maybe I just was too pissed about being tracked) is the engine getting damaged easily. Yeah, my engine would get damaged but it didn't seem to be that big of an issue. I guess it made me a little slower at times but that's better than getting tracked and attacked by multiple enemies. Needless to say, as soon as my Obj. 416 was available I sold my A-44. In fact, the last game I played with my A-44 I ran it off the hill. Himmelsdorf I believe was the name of the city map. The big hill with the castle on top. Yeah, I ran it off the top of that.
I got ammo rack in a day with this tank more than in two years in every other tank I've played so far,it's just so annoying...but I love it 😊

Did about 600 ramming damage with the A-44 against the side of a Borsig :) It's a fun tank made out of easy-to-damage engines and ammoracks.
Not sure if best tier 7 medium rammer, I think KV-13 is a strong contender.
Id think Panther is the best tier 7 rammer.

Have yet to drive it outside the test server, but it is certainly a interesting tank.
Not quite sure if it's the best rammer at tier seven though, the Panther would have to be a strong contender due to it's hefty weight of over 47 tons.
Of course the Panther's weaker power to weight ratio means it's not quite as mobile as the A-44 but you can't really have your cake and eat it all the time..
I am now really really really looking forward to this tank. I have it unlocked but have not bought it yet.

This tank is awesome. The mobility is excellent and for a med you have plenty of penetration and alpha, so it is still a good and fun tank to drive. I suggest for this Tank:
-Cyclone Filter
The engine gets shot out really easily, even from the front, probably at least every match if you survive long enough
-Gun Rammer
Gun reloads kind of slow.
Do all of these things, and it's a super fun tank. :)

a-44 is my favorite tank, though all the hate i manage to have a 3 to 1 dmg ratio and a 60% win rate in it over 200 games

indeed, it becomes an incredible beast when the crew is skilled. But the obj 416 and the 430 2 are worse. I hope the 430 will be better because the T62A and the 140 are my favorite tanks!
It seems that in general the enemy like to shoot the hull instead of the turret. Which the turret is not hard to penetrate compare to the hull.

Great review, as always! In what order should I research the modules on the A-44? Does it need upgraded tracks to fit modules and equipment? It would be nice if you mentioned this in upcoming reviews, since I think a lot of players don't want to/can't spend free xp to elite tanks at the beginning.
Every time you get shot in the front you get set on fire and your engine gets knocked out and when you sidescrape you get penned in the side.
I rammed an ELC AMX against a wall with the A-44, and he teleported several meters away. XD
This is a beast of a tank to meet on the battle field!!! Great review. Not sure if this would be helpful or not, but could you show the tech tree at the beginning of reviews so that people know where the tank falls within the tree?
You were lucky. There is not one game where i dont get ammo racked, set on fire, engine get damaged, fuel tanks, etc. And if you get matched up against higher tiers you are pretty much screwed because most of the tanks can pen you and you dont have the aim time to get clutch shots in so to get a shot in you gonna have to take atleast 2x the damage
Duka Duka you need to be HIGHLY agressive with this tank, also the ammo rack is on the right side of the turret, and if you angle well, the front will bounce anything, ive bounced things most meds cant.
*Really* would have liked to see how you play this in a Tier 8 and 9 matches.

if you get shot, you gonna have a bad time...QB was not joking about preventative maintenance...so many downsides, not sure whats good about it

I have just started using the A44. So naturally I came to your TH-cam seeking knowledge.
At 7:30 you say the A44 has a 1713 dpm capability, the current WoT says 2032 dpm.
Does this and any other changes you see qualify it for a new review?
QB I think that a good comparison to this tank would be a kv13... cause both t7 and great amour for med at that t

Its great that you made a review, but you show 2 matches where you are top tier, my experience is that i get alot of tier 9 matches and in tier 9 matches its just meh. even when im top tier every one and their mother know top shoot the capola so i dont know what to do really and that bloody Gun depression is so bad that if you drive over a pebble your gun points up in the sky..

I just love a-44
I liked it as well but not to the extent you like it.
I prefer the Object 416 for it's tier than this as the Object 416 is just so fun.
If you like the Obj 416 i can recommend the Obj 430 II. you get a lot of bounce (for a med) ab you can turn your turret 90° to each side (like the E4). Together with great mobility and a low profile you can wreak havoc to the enemy.

Yeah I think it's great, I prefer the T54 though and also I prefer the Obj 416 for it's tier.
I liked My KV-13 but this tank has everything I did not have on a KV-13.Just purely looking on paper stats.Reality might be something else.
It's a trap!
A-44 is okay, the mobility and alpha are impressive, and the armour reasonably good, but bad aiming stats, very low hit point front mounted engine and very bad gun depression definitely more than balance the tank. The combination of bad aiming and bad depression is quite antagonistic (i.e. opposite of synergistic), because you often need to point your gun down more at closer ranges (terrain becomes more significant, lower weak points become unhittable or at a bad angle, etc.).
i personally love the a-44, i have a 60% w/r in it over 200 games while my overall average is only 52%. The thing about a-44 is that you don't play it by its' stats. For the first 40 or so games I was really frustrated, I got my engine knocked out 5/6 games, I got ammo racked if i wasnt engined and I hated it. I came to realize there are only certain places a-44 can use. Its' bad gun depression really limits the positions it can use. But, I think its a sturdy machine. You can play popout by driving backwards (it has nice backwards speed), and you can play a little more aggresive on swampy maps cause of its GREAT ground resistance. One disapointment about the a-44 is its' sidescrapping abilities. IT can easily side scrape against 1-2 targets but it has 2 spots that stick out on it's hull which keep you from super scrapping

QB, I notice you've never done a review of the KV-13 (at least I can't find it) I am curious how you compare the bastard child of the Russian line (a shame really cause it is SO much better than the T-43) to the A-43??
