- This video has been a year in the making! I finally had my friends (including some rappers) in a video, yaaay. LOL of course it’s when I’m about to move to a different country. Anyway, I chose songs that I felt matched their music preferences and I was actually surprised how attentive these guys were hahahaha. Hopefully I sparked interest in them to add Korean music onto their playlists. Enjoy! Thank you Simon, Yurej, Renzo, Godfred, and Romar, I’ll miss you my bros!

we dont have a stadium in our country sadly (well we kinda do its just very small) so the the only option to hold concerts here is an arena that holds 20k+

I am an older fan, in my younger years there were a lot of musical groups that wore make up as part of their stage presentations, i.e Bowie, Kiss, Marilyn Manson, Prince, and many more, just like K-pop artists do now. I appreciate your reactions and commentaries.
I actually like that. I feel like sometimes people forget a lot of artists wear makeup on camera, doesn't matter what gender! I'm so used to it from broadcasting, I would always put makeup on my male co-anchors or co-reporters back when I used to do news haha

I think Tear was a great one to introduce your guy friends to - not only is it hard hitting AF, the lyrics are just so emotional. Anyone who's ever been through the pain of a break-up can relate to Tear. DKDKTV also has a really good explainer for Baepsae which discusses the multi-layered language and cultural nuances (and for Ddaeng and Daechwita, which are in your part II!)
Baepsae is more about socioeconomic issues than just generational. Yes, generational plays a huge part in the song but for a different reason. Economically, it's a lot harder for people now to live, everything is so expensive, and salaries often don't cover what you need to pay for everything. People have to give up actually living life just to work to survive. But people born with "silver spoons" or people who were given more of an advantage just say "work harder" or "put in more effort."
They act like people not being able to support themselves in their current economies is their own fault for not working hard enough and being lazy, rather than a huge gap between those born more privileged and those who were born in a time where there was economic prosperity and things were much cheaper, compared to those who weren't born into amazing positions in life who are put at a disadvantage.
So it's like saying "You are a stork, you were given long, powerful legs. I am a crow-tit, how can I possibly keep up with you when the legs I was given were so short" referring to economics and your station in life
What the man with the beard said resonated with me so much. "Who are they getting to know? You or your writers?" And i guess that is exactly why armys have this emotional connection with BTS. This bond, what everyone is trying to replicate, came from sincerity and from them opening up to us. Nobody else can do that.

Maybe it's just me getting immersed a thousand percent into my boys but if you want them to understand or read the lyrics i don't think interrupting the song is the way to go. Everyone is different so hopefully they still understood but i feel like talking over the song about outfits or explaining the lyrics themselves makes them miss the parts you just talked over. Still thanks for spreading the love for the boys. You should have kidnapped them to hobipolooza so they understand even better 🤣
Hey I really appreciate your input! I've definitely tried out varying styles and unfortunately though it's been hard to find a style that EVERYONE of my viewers prefers. When we don't talk ppl said we were boring/uninterested, when we paused to talk ppl said they hated how we're chopping up the video, when we do talk people say it's distracting. So I've kinda just decided to make the entire filming process for my reaction videos as natural as I can and make the reactions and commentary happen when it does. Just as if we were hanging out and the camera just so happens to be there. I want GENUINE reactions and if that means saying something on our minds over the video, if it means being stone faced with little body movement, if it means freaking out then so be it! I hope that kinda gets you to understand my point of view! Their eyes were glued to the screen so that's all I could ask for hahaha. Thanks again :)

All the three songs chosen were the best to show for the first time to a young audience because they can relate to it especially Bapsae, while Tear and Mic drop are just masterpieces too good leave for later... also TEAR was written at the time they were going through a rough patch and it just represents their feelings of then with no remorse towards anybody else but themselves.

My tl:dr rant on stage makeup:- Virtually all stage performers wears SOME amount of make-up, depending on the lighting, camera work and type of stage settings used.
This includes broadcast, orchestral, theater and concerts. It’s just a variation on type and amount of stage makeup needed for the different settings. Otherwise, your facial features will look blurry, washed out and lose all definition from the viewer’s perspective due to the glare from the bright lighting.
I recall having to wear the much-dreaded (due to allergies) stage makeup even as an insignificant minor performer (not in direct line of all the bright spotlights) in various orchestras /concerts, just so I “won’t scare the audience looking like a featureless ghost”. This practice is a necessity that goes beyond vanity.
Only difference is that for Western male performers (w exception of metal, goth, grunge, heavy rock artists where the makeup is somehow non-punitively accepted or even celebrated as part of their musical persona), the stage makeup focus there is to create a “natural” no-makeup look that their audience is oblivious to.
However the objective for stage makeup application is completely different in K-pop (& other Asian ent industries eg C-pop, J-rock, J-pop etc) where the visual-aesthetics plays a crucial supporting role in the entire artistic performance and viewer experience.
Here the role of stage makeup is much more than simply muted BGM. Instead, stage makeup is deliberately also used front & center to add weight/depth/dimension to the artists’ musical story-telling.
Sadly, this “makeup non-agenda” is often used by prejudiced folks steep in cultural insensitivity, xenophobia &/or toxic masculinity as an excuse to bash artists like BTS.

Love this reaction and I think it really makes a difference when there's someone to instantly explain stuff. The guys were so attentive too that was refreshing. About TEAR I think Suga came up with the beat and the concept of the song when he wrote his part of the rap but he didn't write the whole song, Rm wrote his own part and Jhope did too.

“I feel like you are not displaying yourself unless it’s 100% your staff..Otherwise who are they going to know, you or the writers” actually I don’t know if other artists do it, probably yes, but bts can talk about some themes and professional writer will organise their thoughts into a nice speech, or make it in a song. They did it with the speech for un 2018, also vocal line do that a lot, talk about their thoughts and struggles to Rm or another lyrics writer and they make a song based on these thoughts, so in this case you are getting to know the artist even though he didn’t write lyrics himself
He definitely means when you're not a part of the writing process! Like when people write the whole song and give it to another person without the performer's input or thoughts

@@ChantelleSistersAndCo Like most K-pop companies do. The company writers and producers put the songs together and decide which member's going to sing what... and the idols do it without input. I've heard of idols who got severely reprimanded or kicked from the company for daring to make suggestions as to lyrics and line distribution.

Correction they were going to disband because of the hate and accusations in their early days, not for a break. The plagiarism accusations really got them down and was taking a toll on their mental health.
I saw Suga clarfied on You Quiz on the Block interview that their break also stemmed from the overwhelming success in the U.S. and that it wasn't what he wanted, he was trying to express that he needed to take a step back coz he never wanted that amount of pressure

But I'm not 100% sure if it's accurate... that it was them two, I just remembered that the two of them openly spoke about it

Not a huge issue, the entire filming day was to showcase the rap line because my friends like hip hop and rap but I included some group songs to include songs that I thought would match their music preferences. The 2 videos are still a huge emphasis on the rappers though because some viewers felt like we weren't giving the rap line some attention. I just added group songs in the mix for variety

I'm curious who is the 2 you thought wanted to quit? Coz I haven't seen any mention of that.. Their Festa dinner just mentioned doing individual works but not quit perse. Their 2018 speech only mentioned that they were having difficulties that they discussed disbandment. Just thought to clarify.. 😅
Oh I watched them on "You Quiz" and Suga and Jin mentioned it? That's why I said, "i think". Suga said he cried in the shower before their first AMA appearance saying this is not what he wanted and they should pause. And Jin says, in the same interview I think that, "the members always get mad at me when I mention to disband" But idk if the truth got lost in translation coz every video I watch has different subtitles or if it was just said because it was them two that were being interviewed. Idk if it's true!
@@ChantelleSistersAndCo jin said that when he talked about the breakup meeting on mama award speech it made them cry even more, thats why members were scolding him to why he mentioned it on speech it made them more emotional. they never said that any one wanted to breakup. in one vlive suga has talked about why they thought to disbanding in 2018 was because in 2017 they became huge in western countries. As korean artist highest dream they had was to win mama and MMA desang but suddenly they became huge in foreign countries and this success made them sacred that how will they maintain the pressure of being at that height.In several vlives all members have mentioned how being on ama and billboard made them soo scared of future , and thats why they thought of disbanding , because their thoughts were conflicted how they will carry on this legacy and success , because they didn't wanted to disband they were scared of huge pressure they got with this success. What you said is not right , none of them wanted to do individual work , till 2020 when they 1st got curious about their individuality. So now they have started to build their own career along with group career. please don't mention about members having these thought if you don't know much , as after 2022 fest video they already were upset how media and people took their hiatus word in wrong way. RM even mention how he didn't wanted people to take it this way. They were struggling with writing songs , they needed break so they took one.
@@anamikasharma2176 Ohhhhh I thought the members scolded him because HE wanted to disband not because he mentioned it at the mama speech. I didn't claim it as a fact though, I kept saying "I think" because I wasn't fully sure. The reason I mentioned it was because I was trying to give them context of what TEAR was about and to answer their questions! However, I do think every artist yearns to do individual work and I feel that shows with the rap line releasing mixtapes and the other members also wanting to! I also say "i don't know the correct term" (with regard to people using hiatus) because we filmed this the same week of the news and I also was not sure what was correct. I truly feel like I express my lack of knowledge throughout the video but I am glad I have viewers who are willing to teach me, I'm never sure what is "right" and I'm still learning the rules of this fandom, after all I have only been a fan for just under 2 years. So I do thank you for all this information

But honestly, looking back at the videos where I got that information (you quiz on the block interviews), I may have interpreted it incorrectly because every video has different subtitles. This video was when they were at WEMBLEY STADIUM in 2019 that's why J-Hope's mic is blue, they had 2 sold out shows there and they are only the 12th artists to have achieved this, every music artist in the world wants to perform at the iconic stadium but not every one can pull it off.

I especially loved safety zone, hangsang, P.O.P, = (equal sign), when he did cypher part 1, and of course CNS with Becky G!!!!!! omg i freaked out!
