Or, everyone on stage brings their own personality, excitement and best attributes to the show. Reading between the lines, and you wrote a lot, I think you would have enjoyed this just fine in person. The general public you are so concerned for enjoyed the show.
The public come to the show to enjoy the music... that's everyone on the stage, singer and band. If you don't like people (or indeed everyone) taking solos and pulling stank faces, jazz probably isn't for you. It's a great performance.
