    You are a gem in the world of poker! An example of open heart, gracefully living and discovering what life has to offer besides the felt and the stacks. You are really leaving a trace and heritage to the world. Basically you are winning at 'the Big Table', cheers for that!
    I indulge in being proud that you are part Romanian, even if we are a big family here on the 'blue planet'.
    You render ripples of motivation just by existing and being grateful! Thank you & best of luck at WSOP!
    P.S. You were, are and will be no. 1!

    Tournament poker is a game where there are far more lows than the occasional highs! Since you are one of the Best in the World things will turn in your favor. Positive vibes out to you and great story about your parents. GL tomorrow man, its another blessed day.

    Great that you give shout out to parents. Good parenting is kinda taken for granted although EVER so important. Denzel has an awesome “clip” online about parenting, especially focused on fatherhood. I miss/think about my Dad every single day and wish I could just pick up the phone and call. “You don’t know what you got until it’s gone”-Cinderella (rock n roll band) *keep up the good work Negs

    00:00 to 03:20 - A discussion from the heart...
    08:12 to 09:47 - Breaks my heart every single time to watch this clip...
    But the old-schooler's made me laugh - No GTO'ing, just playing for fun...Love it!!

    Daniel, they aren't locking up the kids indefinitely. The law says that they have to be placed with relatives or foster care within 20 days. Most of them are only held for 72 hours.
    Their parents also have the option of leaving the country instead of waiting to be processed. In that case, they are reunited right away.
    You need to do some research.

    Kind of hypocritical to cry about kids being separated from their parents due to parents voluntarily breaking law. On other hand no screams about the thousands of American children killed every year by doctors. But aborted babies doesn’t have rights I guess.

    My opinion would be that it is Daniel's vlog so he can add whatever content he wants, for myself I am not that interested outside of the poker but it's still nice to get an insight into his life during the WSOP outside of poker.

      This is complete nonsense. If you dig a little deeper, you would realize that not only should these "illegal" immigrants have every right to enter the US, but they all should receive reparations to start a new life in the US. The fact is that much of the chaos and suffering in these countries have been caused by the US. In one particular case, Nicaragua, it is uncontroversial because we have a judgement by the International Criminal Court. The court found the US guilty of waging a war of aggression and was ordered to stop and to pay reparations; which the US ignored. The famous Noam Chomsky is someone you should read and follow his footnotes. He has been a long time critic of the Imperial foreign policy of the US. Don't be smug either, we Canadians are quite complicit in US foreign policy.
      If I burn down your house. I am morally responsible for compensating you, including going to jail for arson. When the US government uses taxpayer's money to train and arm death squads at Fort Benning and then use them to overthrow a democratically elected government, That makes us responsible. Morally, I think we are worse then the Germans at the end of WW2. The Germans faced a Gestapo and execution if they protested. We don't

    That was from 2014, then 2016 9th District court said the kids could not stay with the parents. Executive Order can't fix it for long. Congress has to change the law. Yet the democrats said they won't vote for it. .....WHAT?

    • @robinhoodOO7
      @robinhoodOO7 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's literally not what the decision said...
      According to a 2016 decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, the Flores settlement requires the federal government to release rather than detain all undocumented immigrant children, whether they crossed with parents or alone. The agreement doesn’t cover any parents who might be accompanying those minors, but it doesn’t mandate that parents be prosecuted or that families be separated. Moreover, Congress could pass a law that overrides the terms of the Flores settlement. Waldman said the Flores settlement requires the government to keep immigrant families together for only 20 days, but no part of the consent decree requires that families be separated after 20 days. Courts have ruled that children must be released from detention facilities within 20 days under the Flores consent decree, but none of these legal developments prevents the government from releasing parents along with children.

And what's up with the dealer dealing stud like that with making a square with the four up cards? Is that how they're doing it these days? My teacher used to yell if you didn't get the cards all lined up and touching each other.

    Daniel,
    The problem is that empathy doesn't make good policy because there is always someone else's shoes to put yourself in that is a victim of a crime or marginalized in some way. We should all have sympathy for the plight of immigrants, legal or not, and craft our laws with that sympathy in mind.

    Well a lot of the immigrants from back in the day had some type of skill or trade that they could use to provide for their families and "live the American dream." Even strating businesses and helping others make money. It seems that the American dream now has become what can America give me, of course I want free assistance, free health care, free housing and free day care for my 6 kids. Do I have any skills or want to work hard, nah.

      Where the fuck in the USA do you get social care like that? Immigrant or not? That is NOT why these people are trying to get into the USA and its NOT why people are trying to get into Europe. You, the USA, created this problem with your foreign policies going back decades, all over central and South America, the Middle East, Syria, the list goes on.

    • @TheTruthTeller5000
      @TheTruthTeller5000 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All those countries have had problems a lot longer than decades ago. You just blamed the history of the worlds problems on a country that hasn't even been around 300 years. Maybe the leaders of these impoverished countries should do better for their people instead of being corrupt and power and money hungry.

    Daniel, I’ve met you and have shaken your hand and had convos with you more than 20 times. I’m a fan and an acquaintance, but my friend you are wrong when it comes to your sentiments expressed early in your video. Every single person in America has empathy for children separated from parents, but the left is trying to claim they have more compassion, it’s a debate to see who has more empathy. My question is: what is your solution my friend?
    Here are some facts that will back up my response of you being wrong. 90% or more of the kids who arrive at the US border and are claiming asylum were separated LONG before they arrived in the USA. They were separated when their parents sent them off on a dangerous journey in the desert during the hottest time of year usually with child traffickers. So 90% or more were separated long before they came to the USA, by choice.
    Over 90% of the kids at the border are over 13 years old, very few of them are tender age and all the tender age kids are sent to special group home where they stay in probably the most comfortable place they’ve ever been. All of the kids who are at the border and detained are given health care, dental care, eye care, food, shelter, air conditioning, have games and toys to play with and are supervised. Our country could just turn them away but when our agents detain illegals they take care of children while the asylum case is investigated.
    The reason this is happening is because illegals are caught and they are following a script usually told to them by traffickers to claim asylum. If they were genuinely seeking asylum they would have gone to the port authority or stopped at an earlier country along their journey but the claim of asylum is usually a back up plan if they are caught crossing the border.
    So US tax payers pay for all of the care of these kids. And they have only been separated because it is law and has to be done legally while the case awaits asylum procedures and this law was established by Bush and solidified by Obama and Obama bragged about separating kids from parents bc not separating them only helps the child traffickers which leads to more dead children and more child slavery. Obama understood this but I don’t recall you Daniel or any other liberals preaching selective empathy when Obama was issuing the same policy. Because the economy is currently one of the best in the history of our nation(GDP, unemployment rate, job creation, tax breaks, stock market, trade, etc) now there is over a 300% increase in border crossings and asylum cases so this issue is magnified since Obama was in office.
    Congress put forth a bill to change the law but the liberals shut it down bc they don’t want solutions, they want to keep this issue going so they can use it politically to bash Trump, if the liberals cared about children separation at the border then they would have supported one of many solutions. Still Trump manned up and issued an executive order to end the separation of the small number of cases (less than 10%) who arrive at the border illegally and claim asylum after they are caught.
    Let’s also point out that any person on planet earth who breaks the law and commits a crime that warrants holding while awaiting the proceedings is separated from any family or children they have. This is our culture. But because these videos and pictures of kids being detained are politically advantageous, the liberal media has used them to claim moral superiority yet they were mostly silent when Obama followed the same law and policy set by the US courts.
    I’m still a fan Daniel and will always enjoy your company at the poker table, but my friend you are buying into the liberal media hype without researching the facts or hearing from all sides.

    2 points:
    If you come to a border checkpoint and ask for asylum, your case is reviewed. Then you are granted asylum legally. Honduras is one of the asylum countries. These parents are instead entering the country by sneaking across the border which is a violation of law.
    2. If a house is searched by police and drugs the parents are arreste, and the children are taken into custody. With the logic that people are using these children should stay with their parents?

    As far as the idea of Mexican parents coming over illegally, seeking asylum is not a crime and that's not how undocumented workers get here anyway. They usually just overstay their work or school visas, by which time they're nowhere near the border. Besides, raise your hand if you or your profession has been directly and negatively affected by illegal immigration.

    The kids are not suffering, they are probably getting better care at these facilities with air conditioning, three meals a day and safety than if they were with their parents who would have to provide scraps for them and try to run away from the police. Though separateing family's is wrong, it is beneficial to the kids and give the parents a sense of security that their child is living the life in America.

      Did the kids look like starving kids? Kids with no neutrion, swollen stomach? No, well good thing you're an expert on it then..
      They flee to US for an easier life, not because they have to but because they want the "American dream".
      However you can't just put children into cages, it is just inhumane doesn't matter if it is the orangutang or Osama in the office. That you defend that statement is just fucking idiotic.

    It's not their fault but their parents shouldn't have put them in a position like that in the first place. Also, the max amount of time they can be held there is 72 hours. They get food, water, and shelter. It's way better than being trapped in a desert wasteland where they could easily die of dehydration, exhaustion, starvation, and/or heat stroke.

    • @MichaelGGarry
      @MichaelGGarry 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      72 hours? Are you on drugs? There are kids who have been there a LONG TIME, they have already started putting some with foster families all over the USA, they have admitted there is NO PLAN TO REUNITE FAMILIES and two different agencies are arguing which of them is responsible for it. ITS A MESS and a HUMAN DISGRACE.
      You also have no fucking clue what the parents are escaping from, do you really think they make that journey on a fucking whim?

    • @TB1Rd100
      @TB1Rd100 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the law. They're not allowed to be held for more than 72 hours. Perhaps their parents were involved in a crime? I wouldn't know unless I was looking at the specific case but with statistics telling me that 60-70% of illegal immigrants are involved in criminal activity before and after crossing the border, I'd say it's a safe bet. It's not going to be that way anymore. Trump signed an executive order today to keep families together. An executive order that actually changes a law that Clinton passed and Obama actively enforced. He deported 25 million people in one fell swoop during his presidency. They need to immigrate the correct way. It's unfair to all the other people who worked so hard and paid their dues to get to America nd it's not right. No one in their right mind wants to see children suffer but if they do suffer it's because their parents decided to gamble with their fates and that's no one's fault but their own.

    • @MichaelGGarry
      @MichaelGGarry 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Taylor Newkirk - "60-70% of illegal immigrants are involved in criminal activity before and after crossing the border," - references required.
      The parents are being accused of a "crime" as Trumps mob closed many of the entrance points. Many of the people wanting to claim asylum then had to either travel long long distances to another point of entry, or take a chance to cross the river/whatever where the old point was. This used to be classed as a misdemeanour - like jay-walking. Now they are being charged as criminals for doing that, thats the excuse given for holding more than 72 hours.
      All where is this 72 hour law? An asylum seeker or even immigrant takes much longer than 72 hours to process.
      "Trump signed an executive order today to keep families together." - which is only good for 20 days. Its HIS POLICY that he is removing, the policy he KEPT SAYING only congress could fix - that was a lie. Also congress tried to fix this, but the GOP refused to sign up to it, instead wanting to tie funding for that damn stupid wall into it. Trump and his scum team are LYING.
      "They need to immigrate the correct way" - once again, many of these families are trying to claim ASYLUM.
      "No one in their right mind wants to see children suffer but if they do suffer it's because their parents decided to gamble" - so you are fine punishing children, some as young as THREE MONTHS, in the most cruel way because of an ALLEDGED crime by their parents? Fuck me.

    • @TB1Rd100
      @TB1Rd100 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      -I'm sure I could find statistics that argue for both sides of this if I looked long enough. I know they're there but it's not like you'll listen even if I cite them so I'm not going to take the time.
      -I'd have to find it but I know it's there and I'm not going to. They can only be held for that long.
      -Last time I checked entering a country illegally anywhere else in the world is a crime. Playing loosely may have been the case, at one time but it's not as simple as jaywalking. Before long people figured out they could get away with it. Then more and more started doing it. Until it grew to an alarming level. That's why the border needs to be walled and policed.
      -And we reserve the right to refuse them entry to our country if we so choose, whether or not their claim to asylum is valid. There are appropriate channels to go through if you seek asylum, crossing the border illegally shouldn't be one of them.
      -Being given shelter, three hots and a cot, even if they are separated from their parents, is crueler than leaving them in a boiling hot desert since when? Seems pretty Christian to me.

    • @MichaelGGarry
      @MichaelGGarry 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So no stats to back up your claims.
      Illegal immigration was down before this policy came into affect.
      "And we reserve the right to refuse them entry to our country if we so choose, whether or not their claim to asylum is valid. There are appropriate channels to go through if you seek asylum, crossing the border illegally shouldn't be one of them." - there are American and International laws on this. You and Mr Trump should maybe try reading them. Good coincidence that you have just this week quit the UNHR commission eh?
      "Being given shelter, three hots and a cot, even if they are separated from their parents, is crueler than leaving them in a boiling hot desert since when? Seems pretty Christian to me."
      A) you are meant to be a secular nation, not a christian one.
      B) you are a sick person if you think that is humane.

    The parents were caught coming into the country illegally. If they came here seeking asylum, they would not be separated.
    The 9th circuit court of appeals was sued in 2016 when the original law was that parents and children would be together. Based on that suit, the new law is that children must be separated from their parents until the matter is sorted. All the parents and children get reunited.
    If you disagree on issues that is fine, but please at least try to be educated

      But thats not true - Trumps scum team are also separating asylum seekers. Not to mention the entire separating kids from their families for what is a MISDEMEANOR (the same as jaywalking) is a disgrace. It was TRUMP POLICY to do this.
      On top of all that, illegal immigration was DOWN on previous years anyway.

    • @robinhoodOO7

      "If they came here seeking asylum, they would not be separated."
      False. Trump's administration has separated children from their parents even if they are seeking asylum (see: www.msnbc.com/stephanie-ruhle/watch/migrant-children-seeking-asylum-separated-from-parents-1254886979929)
      "The 9th circuit court of appeals was sued in 2016 when the original law was that parents and children would be together. Based on that suit, the new law is that children must be separated from their parents until the matter is sorted. "
      The 9th Circuit was NOT sued. The Obama administration was sued and the matter went on appeal to the Ninth Circuit. I don't think you have even a basic understanding of the legal process...
      Here's the 9th Circuit decision you seem to be referring to: cdn.ca9.uscourts.gov/datastore/opinions/2016/07/06/15-56434.pdf
      According to the 2016 decision by the U.S.
      (See: www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2018/06/19/the-facts-about-trumps-policy-of-separating-families-at-the-border/?.eae30744b0f4)
      "If you disagree on issues that is fine, but please at least try to be educated"
      The irony is real...

      Illegally crossing the border is a petty misdemeanor, the equivalent of a parking ticket. You're comparing it to murder.
      If you've ever texted while driving, you've committed a more serious crime than these people have. You should lose your children.

      Because it's a petty crime. Murder, Rape, Filming Vertically: those are major crimes, crossing a border is a minor offense -- unless you're living in a fascist dictatorship.

    America is the most compassionate nation on the planet. We take more than a MILLION legal immigrants every year. The “kids” you’re referring to aren’t children, they’re 17,18,19 yr olds. Furthermore, your parents were willing to embrace the culture and norms and traditions and history of the country to which they were migrating. Today’s immigrants - particularly from the south - do not have either the capacity or the interest in doing that.
    Save the empathy for American (or Canadian in your case) citizens who are hurt by mass immigration.

    Excellent video as always but I have to comment on what someone else has mentioned and I’m sure you ah e heard it a few times this wsop. It seems that when you make a deep run and cash it almost cash then join another tournament later at night, you seem to bust that one extremely fast. It’s prolly cause your head is still on that last hand or hands that could have went the other way and your still thinking about it and not focusing on what’s in front of you. How could you when you were just top 20 in the 50k now your 200 or more deep in a 1500$ it’s just. It the same intensity. Maybe instead of playing right away you could cool off in the trailer for a few hours or even the rest of the night if late register is allowed. I know the early chips are important so maybe just take an hour or 2 in the trailer to chill out and regroup and get the thoughts of the last tournament out and get our intentions for the new one. I think you could great benefit from some of ya own advice in that situation.! As always great video and appreciate everything you do DNegs!!!!💪🏼😎💰

    First, I want to say thanks for doing this vlog on the what it's like to grind the WSOP. I've really enjoyed what you show us.
    Second, I have a question for you.. you see many of the same players day after day... do you notice seeing the same dealers every day, and do you have some preferred dealers?
    Third, what you are seeing is sensationalism and political, whether you want it to be or not. The problem is people are trying to make a point by exploiting a FEW issues and make it like it is happening to all. You are super smart, you should do research before you comment on how things really are... Here is a post made by someone I know that encapsulates my thought: Compassion rooted in ignorance is cruelty that leads to the deaths of thousands of people.
    Finally, I really hope you have some good days in this Series and get AT LEAST bracelet #7!!! Sending good vibes to you!

    Hey Daniel you are right about it being wrong to separate children from their parents., but if you dig a little deeper, you would realize that not only should these "illegal" immigrants have every right to enter the US, but they all should receive reparations to start a new life in the US.
We don't
    If you think this may not be the place to talk about what is going on, then when and where do you think is the proper place to discuss important social issues? Did Rosa Parks ask if this was the right time to challenge the segregation laws? When people ask this question, it is an excuse to ignore painful truths about ourselves. What we really need is some this killer poker Rocky attitude that you brag about to stand up for elementary morality.
