Enjoyed your trip report. But i do have reservations about Qatar Airways. Not flown them before but heard a few negative reviews. Also this aircraft seemed a bit old, especially the wings etc. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve never had negative experiences with QR, except for the narrow seats on 787-8. This one had high speed tapes on the wing but I explained the reason in the video, so nothing to worry about.
1 hour is very tight considering that you might get bus transfer to the terminal which takes time and that Qatar starts boarding 1 hour before departure. 2 hours for transit should be better.
Are you referring to the wings? These have been repaired correctly and the issue is caused by 787 design, not by the airline. Qatar Airways is safe to fly.
I had a really bad experience with this airline. The seats are not that comfortable. The worst experience with the Bangkok team. They got the who flight in trouble with immigration because they didn't follow regulations. Appauling communication and organisation. Some of the worst staff I have encountered on an airline. I will never recommend or fly again. I raised a complaint and never heard back. They are definitely not 5 star.
I feel so sorry to read about your bad experience with QR. Maybe you were just unlucky with that specific flight. Give them another chance and you probably change your opinion. I flew QR several times and I never had experience I can define as bad. Unfortunately their fleet is inconsistent and there are several differences among their aircraft, however I usually find their ground and cabin staff providing standard higher level service if compared to other airlines.
the older boarding music (in this flight) is much better than the current one.
I like both actually.

The Problem with QR they don’t offer Premium Economy and their 787 economy seats are extremely tight some seats are even less than 17 inches wide!
I suggest then to refurbish their 787-8 with newer and wider seats installed on their 787-9.

Wish I had know about the small seats I would have booker a different airline
Before booking, check the aircraft you would fly on. The narrow seats are only on 787-8. The rest of their wide body fleet has wider seats.
Next time fly with Qatar Airbas A 380 to enjoy proper sitting
Unfortunately Qatar does not operate the A380 from Italy and its Eastern destinations are only Australia and Thailand.
