  • Here's the long awaited 1/12? Ural 6x6 Military truck. In this video I have a close look at all the features and details. As well as a Size comparison to the JJRC Q60 6x6, and the WLtoys 124201 1/12 Military Truck, to see if it's a tru 1/12 scale, or actually a 1/16 Scale.

    Have mine en route to me-I looked at the published dimensions and it was obvious to me that it is 1/16th,not 1/12th-which pleases me as it fits with all my others. I fail to see why a 380 size motor would be underpowered-they are not,but looking at this vid the motor can looks too short to be a true 380-until I have mine I won't know,but as I'll rebuild mine it isn't an issue. Pity about the 6mm hex but it can be worked around,like anything-making the 5mm hex a 6mm on the WPL wheels should not be that difficult. Thanks for the review.

      I'm going to try one of my spare combined ESC's from another truck, see how it goes. Yes, 5mm to 6mm will be an easy fix. I'll hopefully have another video up in a week or so with some modifications. All part of the fun :)

    Nice review, I was looking at these for my boys. Agree its not even near 1:12 but with the ZiL side by side, having driven both Ural and Zil 157they got the scale right. The real thing is amazing piece of truck and I'd get it even for a display at home.

    Not my first look for sure. I have one of these at home. I have one with a lipo battery and Id say it's fast as hell. At max power, Im sure it could climb that slope without a problem. What it could have is a gearbox failure as the 380 motor has a plastic pinion which is easy to get slipping. Then the truck wont move at all or move hardly, depending on how loose the pinion has become. I could fix it with a super glue and putting the pinion on the other way. Until my order arrives with brass pinions to replace. One other note is that regular WPL 6x6 metal upgrade kits wont fit this because the drive train is bigger. The internal shafts in the locked diffs are 4mm, instead of 3mm of the WPL upgrade kits out there. None of the bearings will fit either. So it looks like there are no upgrade parts for this truck. A shame as the front axle is so damn wobbly that it cries for an upgrade. The rest is solid enough for some time.

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is yours the same make as this one with the a lipo? The motor on mine is just to weak, not slipping. I mention in the video about the size of the axles. Hopefully a bit stronger than the WPL ones!

    • @Renuars
      @Renuars 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tomley RC Garage exactly the same. Only came with a lipo. An option upon order. I also have the ni-cd battery. I think it's very strong and fast at full speed. I can make it spin wheels on the floor. That kind of slope it can negotiate easily.

    I´d have been absolutely gutted if I´d ordered a 1:12 model and it had turned up in 1:16 scale. Also I´m really puzzled by the switch to 6mm wheel hexes. Surely, if we all know we can use sticky "kit" WPL tyres on WPL rims, the truck will sell better because we can see a way around the tyre problem. The decision to go to 6mm is as baffling to me as JJRC´s decision to install open diffs on their model.
    Thank you for reviewing this truck - I´ll be very interested to see any follow-up videos that you make on it.

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure who makes this one, but they have obviously gone it alone and not used the WPL/JJRC components. I'll do a bit of work to it and see how well it performs. Not sure why they though it was 1/12!

    • @Del350K4
      @Del350K4 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I often wonder whether the manufacturers realise that, for example, they´ve included a battery which makes their product look less capable than it is. I´ve even bought RC aircraft which actually wouldn´t fly simply because the included battery was rubbish. I wonder whether the misrepresentation of the scale in this case was deliberate.

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I often think they need some people working for them that actually know what people want and what will be best for their products. I'll work for them if they pay me.... ££££££££££!!! 😂

    • @Del350K4
      @Del350K4 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you think they glean information from TH-cam? It didn´t take long, once the WPL B1 and B24 became widely available, for videos showing how easy it was to convert an axle to have an output shaft as well as an input to begin appearing. Suddenly WPL announced the release of a 6x6 kit option.
      When the C14 came out, lots of 3D printed HiLux rear bodies popped up online; surprisingly quickly WPL were offering a full-bodied version.
      All this sounds as though I´m under the impression that the various manufacturers of these trucks have slick market researchers on their staff, but then they go and make really elementary mistakes such as supplying hard tyres, puny batteries or, like JJRC, fitting open diffs.
      Inflated top speed claims don´t help their credibility in the European market, either. I don´t think they expected us to check. Now that people such as you are publicly "outing" these manufacturers as blatant fibbers on TH-cam it´ll be interesting to see whether the bold claims made packaging will change in time.
      One question: did the box this truck arrived in actually state that the model´s 1:12 scale or did it just say that in the online ad?

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I think so. I have spoken to the guy who is part of the WPL team (he may even be the boss) and he does take a lot of ideas from social media etc... they have just brought out the B36 Ural, and it has metal gears as standard I believe, and also the tyre look nice and soft...even the RTR ones. I should have one in a few weeks

  • @Bulten1973
    @Bulten1973 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    the Ural 4320 is 7366mm long. 2674 width. 2870 height. so you can calculate exakt scale if you want. i wonder why the manufacturers writes wrong scale on there boxes. can only lead to dissapointment for those who cares. its not like people look at the truck and say no i dont want it..but hang on ..its 12scale i gotta have it!?

    I always thought that wpl military trucks should have been a little bit bigger they're almost the same size as the little pickup trucks this seems more accurate at least closer to 1:16 I like that it has a bigger frame but that Motors should be able to move that thing no problem new ESC and motor and it's probably be okay but those tires look terrible

      Charl Coetzee No, even with charged battery it was the same (video in the garden was a full battery). The throttle ‘trim’ on the transmitter was I functional as it is on others I seen review this. So it was a duff truck. I’m going to review the other body style and hopefully will work 👍🏻

    Proportional steering and throttle isn’t “ toy grade” it’s cheap, but not toy grade. If you can remove parts and replace parts, it’s hobby grade. Learn your terminology

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kevin Skaggs Who called it Toy grade?

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you may have not listened properly....I said the tyres are "Toy Grade"...I'm well aware of the difference! Although I distinguish it by the availability of spares rather than if you can change parts.....there are no spares for this, so some may call it Toy Grade.

    • @ecbadboy101
      @ecbadboy101 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tomley RC Garage not just spare parts, but the ability to take the RC apart or it the fact that it has proportional steering. If you put high end aftermarket wheels, shocks, motor, ECU, servo’s, etc. would you still consider it toy grade-ish? For the record, I know this RC is cheap and really not a high end RC. But you gotta give credit where credits due. Even for the little RC’s.

    • @TomleyRC
      @TomleyRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never said this was toy grade...and if you watch all my other videos with these trucks...I rate them all. As for the Toy Grade hobby grade argument...here's my New Bright, that I put a brushless motor in, with ESC and servo, so taking your views on....this is hobby grade? Because I'm not sure! th-cam.com/video/CTiTnHQNMIo/w-d-xo.html
