I'm watching this whilst sipping my morning tea... This reminds me of the last time I saw the MRAP in Iraq 2007. This model is very close to what I remember, however it wasn't explosion-proof, but it did a good job of protecting the troops when it encountered a blast.
I think many of them now are designed to protect the occupants and shed parts and like that when they actually hit a big IED in the road. Trucks can be repaired or replaced, people can't. Some of the old South African trucks were huge reinforced barrels on wheels that were designed to be easily fixed when the driveline and axles got blown off, and many have the armored wedges underneath to deflect the blast and shrapnel away from the floor.
Being a military fan and supporter I really like the look of this, love the scale and it has one of the very few sound modules that actually sound OK, most sound awful but this one don't.. Cool video mate. 👍
Thank you for making this video and taking the time to show how to have your headlights running all the time worked out perfectly. I'm not too tech savvy but thank God I'm also not afraid to try things out. PLease note you guys wire colors can be different on your truck best way so you don't pull the wrong ones is to look under your body check the wire color coming out of the head lamps before hand as mine were green and white!!
Great stuff Phil - I sat here with a bacon sandwich and a cup of tea, enjoying the show! Beats watching the TV, hands down! Sure is a beast mate! :-) 👍👍👍GB
Phil, I was already chuckling at your idea of buying a non-descript box like at the beginning, but then when I saw 'Explosion Proof Car' I nearly fell off the couch. It's a pretty impressive rig and I'm intrigued by the center locked axle. Interesting choice on their behalf but it seems to pull through the mud fairly well.
Cracking model, really cool, nice mods to the main lights, can the indicators be made switchable? Also the speed control seems a bit on/off, can that be adjusted to be smoother?
Love it truckin thru the water! What a great shot. What about fpv camera in driver seat? Also can GoPro session 5 fit in turret. Might get some cool perspective
Watch the official video on TH-cam an you Will see they blow up this trucks. An were not talking small explosions the trucks lifted off the ground. But as it says explosion proof, an after seeing the video you Will know it absolutely is explosion proof!! It's a MUST SEE video.
Nice piece of kit Im in awe of the detail Im not into military trucks so not of much interest to me personally. Wish they'd do something like an American tow truck or say a rescue vehicle with this level of detail!
Not really my speed, but you can't help being impressed by the scale detail and the features they thought to include. I think "Absolutely mad!" perfectly describes it. 😉👍 I ended up here because I saw the engine on Banggood and thought someone had put together an actual working scale diesel engine for RC vehicles until the price sent me digging deeper. I kind of knew it was bonkers to think such a thing existed, but I took a 35 year break from my interest in RC and some of the things available today for ridiculously low prices still surprise me after a few months of coming back up to speed. 😉 Not that I'm complaining. There's still plenty of stuff in the "ridiculous for a toy" category for me, but that's to be expected. It's just plain awesome to me that I was able to buy a nitro powered, just about RTR except for fuel and starter rally car, for what a brushed motor and ESC would have cost in 1985. And it's supposedly 1/10th scale, but is somehow considerably larger than my 10th scale drift car, if you go by what size miniature Stig you'd need for the cockpit. Seems it's common in RC to liberally interpret the meaning of "scale", at least for bodies. If you were to put a pickup truck body on my car, it would probably be about 10th scale but with a freakishly wide stance I think. I'm pretty sure that if I were to measure my rally car's wheel base and track width and compare it with a full size rally car's dimensions it'd be appropriate for comic book use, but I won't let that interfere with my enjoyment of ripping this little wonder of technology across hill and dale. 😉😎 Happy motoring everybody! 😁👍
