Ok, I feel the need to end the debate about how big or small Romania is. Sorry foreigners, but as you can see, my countrymen are very proud. :) I think when the author said small country he meant from an American / word wide point of view. Cause yes, at a planetary scale Romania is pretty small. From a strictly European point of view however, it isn't the case. There are about (correct me if I'm wrong) 50 countries in Europe. These are the ones definitely bigger than Romania. Again, this is all from memory so sorry if I missed one: Spain, France, Germany, Denmark(but this one ONLY if you include Greenland, most don't), Poland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey(if you count it in Europe, although a very small part is in Europe). There are some others only a little bit bigger like the UK or Italy. So we are 12th or 13th. Not bad out of 50 countries, no? This is by land mass cause if you count population wise we're up a few places cause although big, some of the countries I've mentioned don't have a big population. Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark are all much smaller from this point of view. So, as you can see, Romania isn't at all a small country by European standards. And for Americans: Of course, putting Romania against the US is ridiculous. USA is a giant country. But, as a perspective, if you put it against individual US States, Romania would be 12th and by population 3rd.

Just saying gypsies are not part of Romania. They are people who are migrating to different countries and usually beg on the street for money. Ok, I feel the need to end the debate about how big or small Romania is. Sorry foreigners, but as you can see, my countrymen are very proud. :) I think when the author said small country he meant from an American / word wide point of view. Cause yes, at a planetary scale Romania is pretty small.
From a strictly European point of view however, it isn't the case. There are about (correct me if I'm wrong) 50 countries in Europe. These are the ones definitely bigger than Romania. Again, this is all from memory so sorry if I missed one: Spain, France, Germany, Denmark(but this one ONLY if you include Greenland, most don't), Poland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey(if you count it in Europe, although a very small part is in Europe). There are some others only a little bit bigger like the UK or Italy. So we are 12th or 13th. Not bad out of 50 countries, no?
This is by land mass cause if you count population wise we're up a few places cause although big, some of the countries I've mentioned don't have a big population. Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark are all much smaller from this point of view.
So, as you can see, Romania isn't at all a small country by European standards. And for Americans: Of course, putting Romania against the US is ridiculous. USA is a giant country. But, as a perspective, if you put it against individual US States, Romania would be 12th and by population 3rd.
