Peter Falk and Alan Arkin have probably the best chemistry together in this movie ever. My all time favorite movie, have seen it over 200 times, never get bored, this Arthur, Caddyshack, Used Cars... all on the top but The In-Laws from '79? The top. Billy & Bing just kill me! Alan Arkin's reactions through the movie are priceless.
Absolutely, JGlaister. I have earmarked for my viewing today another classic: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Just as I love the Serpentine and pea soup scenes in The In-Laws -- "What are you all looking at? Do I meddle in your affairs? -- I also love the scene at the beginning of World where Jonathon Winters indicates that they should cover the deceased, Jimmy Durante. Mickey Rooney's reaction is prime: "What are you looking at me for, pal. I only got this sweater."
This is the funniest movie ever. How did the AFI not even put it on it's list of 100 funniest movies ever? They lose all credibility with me. Remember, "You little snot nose, those phone calls put you through college".
To the cabbie about the CIA, "Staying alive is the key to the benefit package." "The tsetse flies - Jose Greco del morte Flamingo Dancers of Death - are protected by the Guacamole Act"

Funniest movie I have ever seen. Period. I still break out laughing at several scenes to this day.

Same here. I was 12 or 13 when it was on hbo. I watched it whenever it was on. I need to find this movie bcuz I can watch it everyday.
I was looking for the "serpentine" scene when I found this entry. This is still my favorite comedy. It has held up well for the past thirty years.
Oh man, I was hoping to see the scene just BEFORE this - when they first get into the plane - one of the funniest scenes in movies!
Love this movie. Thanks for posting.
Do you remember when Sheldon's bmw went through a drive through paint shop and came out with flames. So classically funny.
I love where he's giving the flight safety demonstration in Chinese to Alan Arkin
The best
This is Senor Pepe "Allo"
Senor Pepe, would you like to give this man a kiss?
OOh yeeesss
That Chinese safety drill is seriously funny
"It's not cut, it's not dried!"

Shel: "Then what happens, another little shoot out?"
Vince: "Shootout? Nooooo...heheheh. You've seen too many movies, Shel"
Sorta like this one. :)

Serpentine, Shell, serpentine!
May vest?
May West: a busty movie actress of the 1920’s & 30’s. In World War II naval men used to refer to their life jackets as a “May West”.
A ZEE?!?
