After owning Cambridge Audio CXC Transport for a few years, I took a HUGE gamble and bought Jay's Audio CDT-MK3 and did some listening today. Jay's Audio blew my mind. Being in this audio hobby for 30+ years, I thought CD transport do not make a huge difference. I thought they simply carry 1's and 0's to the DAC. Jay's Audio CDT2-MK3 opened my eyes (and ears). This unit blows away Cambridge CXC out of the water by a huge margin. That's no exaggeration. The detail is so detailed, that my speakers sound different (Q Acoustics Concept 500s). I cannot imagine what their flagship CDT3-MK3 sounds like. But that's way out of my price range. I seriously recommend Jay's Audio, this product may stun you!
My Audiolab 6000CDT will stay with me forever. At its price point, it owes me nothing and I personally believe that it delivers what’s on the disc as well as I’ve heard anything else. As a reference for red book and something to have available when needed, it’s a great piece. Good quality Kimber RCA coax into either my chord or ps audio dac’s, I don’t feel like I miss out on anything with the lack of aes/ebu or iis outputs.

Denon DCD-3560. Built like a tank. I use its analog and coaxial outputs to feed my PMA 2500NE. I know it is not your level but I am completely pleased. I also have DCD-1520AE (sounds great as transport) and 3313UD. But definitely the 30yrs old DCD-3560 beast is my love. :) KSS-151A never dies and much faster than CDM4. I also have swing arm Philips based player, but quite slow seek times... based on its nature (CDM4 again).
That's surprising as most people know Denon transports (CD, DVD, Blu-ray) to be the most fragile part of their systems. For example, the Denon DVD-3930CI was known for needing a new laser assembly after for most users about 2.5 - 3 years.
No. A good DAC is the best investment. We have discovered that transports have little impact here: th-cam.com/video/IY800_YWrkE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=U1xAZOdVf7Qopo40
If looking for a superb sacd/cd player - Denon dcd-A110. Really high powered, solid machine. Just one peek inside the player you can see the level of care and component quality (look at website for photo). Also made in Japan with 5yr warranty.
Hi guys. I know I am very late to the party but I have a question and would appreciate anyone's views. I just picked up a Jay's Audio Cd2 Mk2 second hand in mint condition which I like very much. I am feeding it via I2S to my Denafrips Terminator Plus Dac. I can purchase the upgrade kit which takes it to MK 3 spec for around £700. As far as I can see the main advantage, apart from a dimmable screen is the better, oven controlled clock. Now the Terminator Plus already has a excellent oven controlled clock, so will upgrading the transport make a significant difference to sound quality? Any thoughts welcome. It's just a shame you can't slave the transport to the Denafrips clock.
Great video! I have a huge cd collection and several cd players and dacs. Also I admit that I always had a sweet spot for cd transports. Over the years I had a few and now I am using the following: Parasound B/CD2000 (belt drive), Cambridge Audio CXC, but I want more. The Jay’s Audio is on my radar but also the Atoll DR200 Signature. This has a audio grade TEAC drive, with Atoll modifications. It seems such a good value... have you know something more about it?
@@anadialog Pretty good indeed! I have emailed Atoll about the future implementation of I2S and they said that it is very difficult to implement right, so they will not offer it on the current models. I have a Denafrips Pontus II dac, so I was interested in I2S but on AES/EBU it is excellent! I don't know if the results with the Jay's audio worth a bit more than double the price of the Atoll...
I also have the jays mk3 on my short lift. The other is the project rs2t. It has the latest StreamUnlimited CD mechanism CD-Pro 8 and servo system CD-84. Then adding a psu is meant to take it into the stratosphere in audio terms.. Will Ana[dia]log do a review on this unit?????
@@TheNaka9 I know this is an old video but I am on the same boat! I have a Denafrips Pontus II and am looking for a transport as my Cambridge Audio CXC is a bit problematic with it. Do I understand correctly that you bought the Atoll and are pleased with the combo with the Pontus? How would you compare it to the CXC ? Thanks!
@@johnnikiforakis872 Hi John! I still use the CXC and the issues with the Pontus II are now almost solved. I installed the latest firmware (ask Alvin Lee) and rebooting the Pontus II also serve to mend things from time to time. As for the Atoll, I am still interested in it but I am taking my time to see if the importer loans me one to test. I read somewhere that some Pontus II user changed the CXC for a Moon Audio 260 CDT and liked the results: it was an proper upgrade. But the Moon is almost the price of the Jay's Audio!!... I hope this helps :)
Interesting video. A little miffed how a modified multi-format player could be better than a dedicated transport. But, the world has it's mysteries. I use my CEC TL0 and Wadia WT3200 transports (slightly older models now, I know) to great effect. The golden era of digital. It simply does not get much better.
Congrats, great machines, which I featured in my video on transports. I was ready to keep the Jay but it just wasn't good enough, at least not out of the box and a week of intensive playback.
I also happen to have that Oppo and you’re right, no multi format transport is going to be ideal for redbook CD. It’s a big compromise, as are the Delta Sigma chipsets
Need help! Hello. Audio Note: The CD 2.1x Mk I the first one. Will it work with my Sudgen A21 SE Signature integrated or my Sudgen HA-4 headphone preamplifier or my Exposure 3010 s2d preamplifier or my Exposure 2510 integrated or my Cambridge Audio A500 because of these 100 kOhm impedance I suppose no amp of mine has. I would be a blind buy for 1150 eur. Regards. Jeff.
I am not sure I understand, you want to connect the CD player to one of your amps? I don't see why it shouldn't work but maybe I am missing something 🤔
@@anadialog older Audio Note cd players would need the preamplifier to have 100kOhm impedance. Some reported that with 47 kOhm amps the CDP sounded bad. Most now told me it does not matter with the CD 2.1x. Well I'll get it. No fear no beer
Confused - so which then is the reason for returning the unit - the long burn-in issue or the ack of space ? Why bother getting it if spacwe was going to be a problem. As you mentioned in this video the May dac also required a long burn-in, and you're okay with that, doesn't quite add up.
The unit went back because it did not wowed me. Yes, as I said my fault is not allowing full burn in, but I wanted a leap in quality even without that. Considering that I had 14 days for return (this time I wanted to follow this opportunity), that I don't have anymore space except 1 slot that was ready for the Jay's, and that regardless burn-in I did not have a jaw dropping experience but only a slightly better experience, I therefore decided to return it. Sound is great, but I would like best, otherwise Oppo is enough for me.
I have owned the Jays for about a year. I am currently feeding a May Kisune linked with Cardas Clear digital 75 ohm SPDIF. This machine is a love hate for me. The first listen was bright, and flat. Not very impressive, and certainly no what I had expected. Break in is definitely an issue as it takes quite some time to start sounding like it might meet its promise. It then went through a period where it just sounded excellent. At this point it sounds very special. Burn or break in are critical. Short story: I owned a high end shop in central Calif for 22 years. After I set up a clients system we always had a drink and listened making fine adjustments along the way until the system sounded it’s best. Interestingly, the next time I heard one of my systems several years later I was always blown away by how much better they sounded. Unaltered, just used normally. I can only attribute this difference to time run. I wish I could compare side by side as the difference is dramatic. I believe most of this equipment continues to improve for several years, maybe their entire service life. It just may be that once you have your system properly set up your most profoundly musical upgrade could simply be time.
Hi Guido, Thank you again for this sharing, always interesting! after a few tries, I chose the Moon 260dt. I'm really happy with it, try it if you have the opportunity.
Amazing transport! It was a big upgrade to the CXC and Audiolab in my system. Also tried the Qstab, but found no noticable improvement. An audio reviewer friend found the same result FWIW. That friend now has the Pro-Ject RS2 and it's probably the best you can get.
Huge thanks ! And finally , what is the next and hopefully the last CD transport in your choice list ??? I am looking for CD transport too. === What can You tell about Yamaha CD S-3000 ? (PLAYER, TOP, HiEnd).
@@anadialog You mean Marantz CD 94-MK2 ??? Would you like to replace Oppo by Marantz 94 ??? === I see. I watched the video about Maranz ones again. You will keep both. I'm sure if you said such nice things about this Maranz, it means that this guy is very good. And once again - thank You so much.
Hello dear Friend! I enjoy watching all your videos, thank you for them! I watched your choice of CD transport with great interest. At the moment, I am also concerned about this issue. I need a multi-format transport (DVD-Audio, SACD, CD) with I2S output. My DAC supports I2S. At the moment I'm planning to buy OPPO + OPPOMOD modifications (power + I2S board). Tell me how do you like your OPPO device? Have you compared it to Jays and OPPO turned out to be good? Please write your opinion or record a video on this score, your subscribers would be interested in continuing the topic about transports.
Thanks! I have an Audiocom Signature modified Oppo 105d, not a normal Oppo. The Jay's was slightly better for CD's but not enough to keep it plus the Oppo can really read anything. If you can find a used Audiocom Oppo get it!
Really considering buying this transport for some time now. This review has left me feeling unsure now. Is there something we should know about or is it really about burn in. Does it really change the audio quality that much? Guys? I don’t like the look of the project box if I’m honest either.
I was waiting for some wow effect because all the elements pointed in that direction...maybe a longer burn-in would have helped, I can't know how much though...I can only underline that my modified Oppo is really really good, meaning that for most people coming from a normal CD player this is surely going to be a big improvement
@@anadialog I’ve searched most forums for reviews on the project box rs2 vs the jays mk3. That is the two players im down to on my short list. For looks though the jays mk3 is hifi porn. The project Rs2 box just looks cheap and it’s very light weight too. I’d really like to know which is the better player but searching hasn’t really gotten me closer to finding out. It’s almost impossible to find a dealer with both too.
Ok a quick update. I had the project rs2t transport for 2 weeks. I can say it’s very good with great pace and timing and fantastic resolution. It is small and light at about 3kg. Over the weekend I managed to hear a jays cdt2 mk3. I’d say about burnt in too. I heard that and a very expensive cec. I thought the jays had better bass and focus. I took the jays home and listened to it and the project. The jays got my vote. It has more weight and it’s more musical too. I liked it so much I paid for the new model the flagship. The brand new cdt3 mk3. I can’t wait to get it, 3-4 long weeks wait😢 I shall report back here after I get it and run it in. Anyone thinking of buying a jays cdt2 mk3 just buy one, you will not be disappointed….
For a player IMO you should try to get a used Audiocom Oppo, but in my opinion SACD is not worth it. Here is why, my video on DSD: th-cam.com/video/eu5I-z7f6is/w-d-xo.html
I just posted another comment regarding the PSAUDIO SACD Transport. I also have an OPPO UDP-105 and the PSAUDIO blows it away. I did mention that the PSAUDIO is now on sale directly from PSAUDIO for $3999.00...
Saw that! Remember that my Oppo is a modified Audiocom Signature Oppo. In any case, for simple red book CDs this was even better: th-cam.com/video/ByClVQevxqo/w-d-xo.html
The main reason to buy this machine imo is not the sound improvement, but that it can easily be the last transport one ever needs to buy. Most of the cheaper machines (and perhaps by then also the aging Oppo) will stop working after 10-15 years - then one will look what is available then and perhaps regret not buying (keeping) the Jay's Audio...
Wonderful demonstration. However, I was wondering why there isn't a SACD Transport only Player? Do you believe there is going to be a Super Audio CD Player, but in a Transport design, connections, and its availability? SACD is a bit more superior in sound quality, and able to play back a couple of more details; as the theory goes. Since the sampling rate is 2,822.4kHz, there are more details, and nuances to recorded music, and more musical tracks can be stored on one SACD. Furthermore, there is also a Hybrid SACD Disc whereby it can be read as a SACD, or CD! I began typing, and then to post this message after only a couple of minutes have past by. However, since I did this amount of work, I may as well send my message; to anybody who does not yet have this knowledge I explained above.🔉🎵🎶
I have a McIntosh MCT450 that plays SACD that is connected to McIntosh C2700 DAC2 module that supports SACD over MCT connection. And there is also the PS Audio that was mentioned.
I sure would like to know one thing. ....... How are you able to send this back? ....... They advised me they would not take it back! .... Did you get this off ebay?
If you can get your hand on a Pro-Ject RS2 CD Transport you will see it is a step up from the Jays. Add the Linear Power Supply from project and it goes up another step. The pro-ject is expensive but in my opinion worth it for the performance it delivers.
I was about to do so, but the esthetics/shape are unpleasant and difficult to place. Most importantly, several report a lot of noise because not properly isolated
@@anadialog I get it, either you like the look or you don't. It is a very small unit that is for sure and may not work for a lot of people. Regarding noise, I hear none from my listening position whatsoever but if you get within a meter you can hear it if the you turn your volume down so that nothing is coming out of your speakers. I bought a $15 sheet of Dynamat and put a square under the lid and thin strips on the sides and it's now silent. Might seem crazy that I would do that but the sound is so worth it. It sounds much better than my expensive music/server streamer.
I was trying to get the project but there were none available here in Canada and it was at least 3 months lead time. I bought the audiolab 6000 transport instead. It is pretty good, decent value as well.
A step above the WHAT Oppo? My 105 is a average transport, and even though it sounds significantly better with an aftermarket LPS and Furutech IEC, and silver 110/220 jumper, my Audiolab CDT 6000 blows the 105 away playing redbook against SACD of the same discs!
I think Anadialog would be shocked with the cdt6000 i been spinning the silver disk for 30 years owning many high end models the Audiolab is shocking it has amazing timing rythm n pace
@rauldon273 about like comparing your 6000cdt vs Oppo about 5 percent better the 9000cdt is super silent with higher quality mains transformer and cd mech and bigger power supply and better digitap output clocks for more accurate timing and this also helps with lower jitter ' I have video review on my channel with 37k views I also open up the player ans show all the internals and how silent the mech is ' I will be reviewing the 7000cdt very soon just got it !! But for price 6000cdt is very very good also !!
I have one too. It is a brilliant piece of kit - simplicity itself, great build quality, fabulous sound and scales wonderfully with higher end equipment.
I bought one last year - great kit, but I am now ripping to FLAC and utilising Roon, and it sounds every bit as good, and no faff of changing CDs, with the ability to put playlists together. I'll be selling it once all the ripping is complete.
@@Phil_f8andbethere I’m running the innuos ZENith Mk3. It’s killer I still want a stand alone transport for first listen and just playing an album from top to bottom
I would like to see companies, (SONY ES for example) service their vintage CD players. It’s a bummer to have a fantastic older machine that can not be kept in action because the brand will not service it. Does anyone know who can service vintage high quality CD players and transports in the USA?
Your review did not disclose which DAC you used with the transport? The cd transport is only one part, the other half is dependent on DAC. Your oppo’s DAC is old and it not a fair comparison. Technology moves very fast and the onboard DAC cannot compete with dedicated DAC. Best to go with CD transport and a dedicated DAC of your own taste.
If you listen carefully I said the May but you are right, sometimes I forget that a lot of people are new to the channel. I am currently using a Holo Audio May DAC Kitsune Tuned Edition.
I bought an Audiolab 6000 CDT last year, which was a good upgrade to my Cambridge Audio 651C. However, I am now ripping my CD collection to FLAC and utilising Roon as a player. Every bit as good and so much more convenient. I will be selling my CDs and Transport once I have finished.
CDs are like vinyl in the 80s… I’ve seen used transports go up in price tremendously. Additionally a cdr has a short lifespan in comparison to the original pressing. So go ahead sell em. I can give you my email if you wish. Lol.
Honest question...this may be the best CD transport ever made...but is it really worth almost $2k US? Can one CD reader really be worth that much? To me, this falls into the realm of thousand-dollar speaker cables. MHO
I agree. I use a $350 Cambridge CD Player as a transport with my Schiit Audio Bifrost DAC $699. How could a $2K transport sound different? I'm open to discussion.
@@a3marketing991 from my experience I can tell you there is a difference. I own Ayon CD 5s, Yamaha CD-S 2200, Denafrips Avatar and waiting on delivery of PS Audio SACD transport. My Ayon was a reference player 10 years ago, and at that time it was the bench mark. Now I have Avatar connected to Terminator 2, and this combination is my new reference. I hoping the PS Audio with T2 will go further.
A transport laser is what reads the disc . If it's cheap , it can't read all the information on the disc . Just like your eye sight . When your eyes don't work as good you need glasses .
To me it seems the whole cd transport thing is just snake oil. A manufacturer builds a bare bones unit with no dac, put it in a fancy cabinet then charge more for it than a normal cd player or even a Blu ray player with DVD A, SACD etc.. But that's just me.
Grazie mille! Mi piacerebbe tanto ma come fare? Ormai è tardi e significherebbe fare doppi video e davvero non ho il tempo oltre al fatto che il secondo video non catturerebbe il mio entusiasmo che cercondi tenere veritiero al massimo.
The std. CDM-4 is, by far, not the best classic swing arm transport Philips made. It was mostly for lower-end units as it used a "toy" motor for the spindle. Better CDM's used the superior Hall-effect motor.
I own the Jay's CD2 mkIII and I understand the Dr.Jekell and Mr.Hyde sound responses from the Jay's. The manual says 400 hours burn in time .Obviously you did not read the manual. My Jay's started really sounding best around 330 hours. Your review really did a disappointing and deservice to the Jay's. I recommend anyone who's considering purchasing the Jay's CD2 mkIII to have patience with burn in run in time. You will be rewarded handsomely. " You stated you wanted a immediate sound improvement " and I declare you never heard what the Jay's is capable of. Terrible........
Indeed, you are correct and I declared it. BUT I do sense when a machine will give me a lot after burn in or only a bit. The sound in any case must already be good. The Jay's wasn't thatbgood at all. Now I am using another player which is getting increasingly better but it's first. It conquer me immediately
I watched your CD Transport comparison and your Jays Audio report as well. Frankly your lack of commitment/conviction to give a detailed analysis and clarity on each product leaves me totally underwhelmed and non the wiser in selecting a transport for myself. If all you are going to do is give a description of the players features, I can get that information by myself just by going to the manufacturers website. Most disappointing and a thumbs down from me.
I made you part of my journey. The video is called in search of the perfect transport, where in fact I declared what was important for me. It is clear that it is not a full comparison. Not all videos are first-hand information. I did furnish some info on transports and redbook cd mechanisms and basics that I think may be of interest. It was a different type of video, and gladly many have understood the perspective. Sorry, you didn't. The Jay has plenty of reviews. I went over once again the reasons why I chose it and why I sent it back. I stated this in the video. My channel and my approach are different and vary constantly according to my life and interests, NOT the market and expectations, and my subscribers know this. I do understand what you are saying and feel sorry that this was not of minimum interest for you.
I see what you mean but after so much research and money spent I was expecting much more. The Marantz I got after is just miles ahead at half the cost: th-cam.com/video/ByClVQevxqo/w-d-xo.html
Somehow I ended up back on this video after several months. Again, strikes me as a poor review. You hardly said a thing about the sound only about features, your Oppo, etc.
These expensive transports are embarrasing snake oil (in my opinion). I prefer your analysis of analog tech, even if old or used. Maybe you can discuss a few 15-band graphic equalizers, new cartridges, some of the newest cassette tape formulations, DIY phono preamps, etc. ?
Who knows me knows that I am not a format fanatic. I love all types of reproduction, yes I prefer analog, but digital in all forms is absolutely part of my life and enjoy it.
With all respect, if you are “reviewing” a piece of audio equipment then arguably the most important thing to discuss is the sound characteristics. To paraphrase you state that you do not want to go into the details of the sound. Huh? Seriously? And you gave it only a few days to review? An audio review is just that … a review of the sound first with the industrial design second. If its not to your liking or not a sufficient improvement over your Oppo then fine. But give us something tangible. Anything. Sure the Jays is pretty, but pretty only gets you so far. I Honestly I am shocked by the lack substance in this review. Speaking in broad terms like saying something is “great” or “amazing” is useless without comparisons or analogies that the audience can relate to. You had the Jays in your possession and had an opportunity to do an exhaustive review, where you could greatly benefit not only your own TH-cam channel but also provide eager watchers a better insight into the Jays. Instead this whole review is fluff and offers no legitimate analysis. What a wasted opportunity for all involved. When all is said and done I find the this review as nothing but clickbait, whether intentional or not.
Hi there and thanks for your comment and reasonable criticism. Actually, no, this is not a review. I rarely do that. I tend to have a different approach. This was the concluding chapter of my "in search of the transport" journey. Moreover, there are other videos out there and I did not want to replicate things already said or analyzed. I do that only when I find huge differences. I do understand your disappointment but I am not going to throw in some audiophile terms to describe the sound when I actually did not have much of an impression since this is a TRANSPORT and it's sound signature will always be tied to the DAC and I have already described in detail my DAC, the Holo audio May. Compared to my Oppo the sound was a little more open and detailed but I really would not say more than that. I think this statement, although not satisfying, is much more honest and concrete. Finally, if I sent it back, it can't be that much jaw-dropping, right? Still searching... ;.-)
Sorry. Have to mention “burn in” .. I think it’s only relevant with tubes. It’s your brain adjusting to the signature. In the headphone world, Tyll Hertsen tested “burn in” on headphones and the conclusion was that there was some change that was picked up on the test, shown in the graphs, but it was so minor that it was imperceptible. There is no night and day difference with so called “burn in”
There sure is and only if you did not pay attention it doesn’t mean it isn’t real. There are several renowned engineers that proclaim the same but I don’t need that, it is clear. Yes some components are more prone to this and other immune just like cables. It depends, each component is a different story and the synergy with the rest of the chain.
You must read between the lines when it's simply NOT worth it. Forget this overpriced trasport, yes trasport, when there is no DAC that is the correct name, and get something like this, you'll find all my conclusions here: th-cam.com/video/ByClVQevxqo/w-d-xo.html
What a lot of bullshit to say you didn't like the Jay Audio player!Because of all the awkward twists and turns, ana[dia] log will no longer be my source of equipment reviews and general audio information!
This dude is bullshitting us. Don't know why he thought there was a need. For me, someone that is not straightforward in this business, forfeits his right to be a reviewer! "No room," "something personal?" His words contradict what he stated at the beginning of his rant. Shame, shame!
No BS. I am renowned for that. Yes, I agree that the "room" aspect wasn't part of the equation, but it is an index of its sonics for me. If it's worth it...I will make space! In fact now finally found my reference CD player: th-cam.com/video/ppggMtL_k9Y/w-d-xo.html The problem is that if there isn't that spark in the beginning, regardless the burn-in phase.
BNC out is not better than RCA output! It is exactly the same since they are parallel on to the other and fed from the same electronics module and they of coarse 75 ohm impedance. You Will never hear any difference between them,it all about convenience and termination. Reviewers that didn't learn electronics make assumptions not base on knowledge may not comment on something they are not know. Tired of reviewers that make statements on something they don't know or sure about it.
Sorry to hear that but in most cases I am presenting things I am currently researching and testing so there are ips and downs for the different types of audiences
No excuse. My Audiocom Oppo is more than enough and it plays anything. Not going to keep a huge item for a slightly better performance. To keep a component, it's gotta rock!

That's surprising as most people know Denon transports (CD, DVD, Blu-ray) to be the most fragile part of their systems.
For example, the Denon DVD-3930CI was known for needing a new laser assembly after for most users about 2.5 - 3 years.

I did give a loot at the Atoll and it seems pretty good, just missing the I2s on my side...
You definitely should try Audio Note CDT3 or 4 or 5. The one that is for your budget. They are all gamechanging
Has anyone done any comparison with the Jay's CD2 MK3 vs the Audiolab 9000cdt?
Did you use the I2S connection? It’s a significant improvement over the other connections.
Yes, that is one of the reasons of my choice. Here is the video of the hunt before choosing this transport: th-cam.com/video/Gl563onzwqU/w-d-xo.html
Need help!
@@anadialog Thanks for clearing that up. Law of diminishing returns my friend.
@@anadialog No, 14 days is not much time to get acquainted with a new piece, unless you have nothing else to do for two weeks.
Sorry if I missed it but for someone that’s starting from scratch, what was the price difference between your modified APPO and the J
Well, the modified Oppo retailed around 4000€ about 8 years ago. The Jay's here in Europe 2400€.
Hi Guido, Thank you again for this sharing, always interesting! after a few tries, I chose the Moon 260dt. I'm really happy with it, try it if you have the opportunity.
Nice!
I didn’t know they still manufactured the Philips CD transport anymore
They don't it's all new old stock
Most socalled new overprized players are copies of Philips, Sony and teac transports because they are the best!
What makes one clamp better than another?
Design. Some are based on weight, some on shape. A good mix of both can help...
Amazing transport! It was a big upgrade to the CXC and Audiolab in my system. Also tried the Qstab, but found no noticable improvement. An audio reviewer friend found the same result FWIW. That friend now has the Pro-Ject RS2 and it's probably the best you can get.
Nice!
Huge thanks !
And finally , what is the next and hopefully the last CD transport in your choice list ???
I am looking for CD transport too.

I have the cec tl5 cd transport. It's great
Hello dear Friend!
Gohead did you experience sibilance during the burn in process of the Jays?
I haven't because I didn't do burn-in. I do believe in it, but my first impact left me so cold that I sent it back.
@@anadialog It definitely does change for the better but this sibilance has not gone away so far .
I can’t wait to get it, 3-4 long weeks wait😢
I shall report back here after I get it and run it in.
Anyone thinking of buying a jays cdt2 mk3 just buy one, you will not be disappointed….
Burn in is BS. Do not listen to people who tell you it's real, it isn't.
Dear delta! All transports are copies of Philips, Sony and teac-tascam because they still are the most reliable!
What is that a regular cd recorder oh a cd player first time I see that equipment
Hey man.. love your videos.. what are your thoughts on sacd and dsd and what would you recommend for an sacd player.. thanks!
For a player IMO you should try to get a used Audiocom Oppo, but in my opinion SACD is not worth it. Here is why, my video on DSD: th-cam.com/video/eu5I-z7f6is/w-d-xo.html
I just posted another comment regarding the PSAUDIO SACD
Transport.
"Scotty, beam it back." "Aye Aye Captain." Spock: "Fascinating"🖖
The main reason to buy this machine imo is not the sound improvement, but that it can easily be the last transport one ever needs to buy. Most of the cheaper machines (and perhaps by then also the aging Oppo) will stop working after 10-15 years - then one will look what is available then and perhaps regret not buying (keeping) the Jay's Audio...
True! That is a concern that struck me, in fact the mechanism is already a NOS.
Can you explain me why those things for $5K like the CD3 can't read SACD? is too much to ask???
Well, I can only say that a dedicated CD player/trasport is almost always better than a multimedia reader.
@@anadialog yes, well I don't expect that reads bluray movies 4K like the oppos but there's a lot audiophile SACDs
I did include the exceptional SACD Transport by PS audio in my transport video: th-cam.com/video/Gl563onzwqU/w-d-xo.html

What sort of thinking determines that the on/off switch would better serve the user by putting it on the rear of the deck?
The the power circuit is behind and therefore cheaper to make that way and perhaps a better design where the power section stays confined.

You're making a mistake
CDs are like vinyl in the 80s… I’ve seen used transports go up in price tremendously. Additionally a cdr has a short lifespan in comparison to the original pressing. So go ahead sell em. I can give you my email if you wish. Lol.
Honest question...this may be the best CD transport ever made...but is it really worth almost $2k US? Can one CD reader really be worth that much? To me, this falls into the realm of thousand-dollar speaker cables. MHO
i get the same feeling. Like "Hi-end" HDMI cables...which also makes no sense
The std. CDM-4 is, by far, not the best classic swing arm transport Philips made. It was mostly for lower-end units as it used a "toy" motor for the spindle. Better CDM's used the superior Hall-effect motor.
Never said it was! If you listen carefully I said the swing arm type mechanism is the beat of the best.
I watched your CD Transport comparison and your Jays Audio

by myself just by going to the manufacturers website.
It sounds like you didn’t want to prefer the Jay’s

Don’t think so.
You can’t compare a CD transport to a CD player.
Somehow I ended up back on this video after several months. Again, strikes me as a poor review. You hardly said a thing about the sound only about features, your Oppo, etc.
Sorry to hear that. I can only say that my disappointment was so strong that it burned my enthusiasm that ai usually put in my videos.
Pro-ject CDT!
Looks crap and is too light. 3KG is a joke. Jays is 15KG. If you walk past it you won't disturb the disc.
Seems to sound great, but what crappy build quality. Do you have one? What do you think?
Still searching... ;.-)
Esoteric transport ? Very expensive.
Often, whatever the domain, esotheric stuff are the best.
Obvious comparison, CDT2 MK3 & CDT3 MK3?
Machined remote, must the wrong glasses on.
