Just changed from a Miltek system to the Cobra and the noise alone is worth it. As you say, very easy to live with in town and cruising, plenty of noise on throttle. Measured my Miltek at 2.75" vs the full 3" of the Cobra so expecting a gain when I go back for an actuator and tweek with Niki :)
What about the scorpion exhaust, heard they are decent also, I don't want the headache of changing downpipe so I would opt for the 200cel sports sports cat for emissions
Mr smithy, thank you for your information. I watch a lot of U.K. car builds and no one Iv seen is open about the money side of thing. Even a car enthusiast Iv alway been so what nervous about the money side of thing when it comes to tuning so many thanks for your information on your car journey so far very much appreciated.
Just be glad you don't have a manual, it was £1500 alone just to an uprated Helix clutch. I'm still on my journey to Stg 2+, I got nearly everything now. Just waiting to get the Cobra cat back and a Wagner intercooler. I also installed water meth myself, I'm really trying to get as close as I can to 400bhp. Great vid tho, not seen any videos that explain the costs to get to stg 2+ on the EA113 TFSI platform
I have an ED30 myself and looking to go 2+. I go to Josh as well for all my mechanical work, he's the best around! What were the figures your car made?
Decent video and nice car, good results there without the Intercooler. Taking my S3 to S2+ at the moment. Am running the BCS Powervalve WRC Race Cat exhaust, Racingline CAI and a few other bits on stock at the moment but will be going Stage2+ with Intercooler HPFP etc soon. Found your videos useful for sure. That Cobra system sounds really decent. Much better than the millteks. Would like to see it in person and see how it compares to the BCS system on mine. S3 owners car meet perhaps 😄 Liking the exterior mods you've done. Everything except the Stage2+ RTech sticker 🙈 sorry man but that's gotta go. Otherwise mint. Decent channel.
Very thorough overview man 👍 if you ever find yourself in leeds and need an exhaust i know a brilliant shop that does custom fabrication exhausts to your spec 👍 much cheaper than branded prices as well mate
Well worth it in my opinion my friend has a mk2 Leon cupra r stage 2+ without a uprated front mount and rs4 fuel return valve and he made 377bhp. Mapped by r tech he wouldn't go anywhere else with these engines
Hi mate saw your video and not good with phones lost it and so happy found it again need help locating the same parts u got please have same s3 manual had problems with injectors done two now gone in for other 2 so want to do the same stage 2 aswell
Is BHP different in the UK than Aus/USA? Over in Aus, BHP is power measured at the flywheel why WHP or just HP is power measured at the wheels via a Dyno taking transmission etc loss.
Thanks for this video mate. I'm looking to get my rocco r remapped to stage 2 plus as well (believe the 8p has the same engine?) Prices are looking a lot more rough these days 😂. Where did you find that exhaust for 895? From my understanding you need a full turbo back exhaust and not just a cat back? (Not sure entirely on this part but r-tech list full high flow exhaust). That comes in around almost 1600 for the cobra system for my rocco so may as well go with the power valve system. I've totalled up stage 2 for myself and coming in at just over 3100. That's including the remap from r tech which is now priced on there website at 570 for the remap and they also price 350 for dsg cal but offer discount if you get both at the same time, I priced total 3181 that's without dsg cal included from r tech and fitting pretty much all parts myself, if I included labour likely to be even more. I know this video was 3 years ago just mad how much stage 2 plus costs now.
Standard 8p was a dull car to me. My opinion. Got stage 1, and now it's running 300bhp r tec remap. Transformed S3 into a very fast and exciting car. Now I am thinking about stage 2.
I'm thinking of getting the other half one of these s3s, after a stage 1 how is the fuel efficiency affected from stock and what can you expect from a stage 2 normal driving mpg?
@@CarsWithSmithy oh great stuff so even after a map it wont drastically affect around town mpg, I'm aware it's all driver dependant. Around town she will be fine, then when I want to jump in weekend I can give it some stick 👍😂
Question you might know mate... I'm already stage 2, could I bolt on a VIS HPFP without having to get the map tweaked? Mapped by APR, who don't do stage 2 anymore!
@@CarsWithSmithy when I bought the car it already had the map. The map is brilliant but don’t want to mess it up by adding a upgraded HPFP. Might have to leave it then! Cheers
Thank you for the comprehensive guide mate, seriously considering it for mine now... Where on earth did you get a full Cobra exhaust for £895 though? Direct from Cobra it's over £1100 for a decat!
What kinda intercooler you priced up for 1K!? Wellycooler setup supplied and fitted by rtech is only £550 🤣 it’s not about the BHP gains either it’s about the safety of being able to run 360bhp all year round summer or winter AIT’s on that engine in summer will be nasty 🥴
I was looking at Wagner or Airtec which are £600 before installation and changing the crash bar. The temp was 26 degrees on the dyno, and I have no doubt Niki knew exactly what the car was capable in all conditions when mapping 👍🏻
Cars with Smithy crash bar doesn’t need changing with airtec or Wagner they’re a direct OE replacement and yeh no doubt Niki knows his stuff which is why I’m also sure he’d of recommended a better cooler for summer days
Cars with Smithy also when they mapped my S3 it was 31 degrees in the dyno room but doesn’t mean if not of ran a better intercooler it’s not about Willy waving numbers it’s about headroom and efficiency.. the amount of heat soak that will get on a run on a hot day will be terrible, id look into a wellycooler setup fitting yourself isn’t a hard job I’ve done around 5/6 on S3’s and edition 30’s and complete kit can be bought from creation motorsports for around 250/260
Dam....Smithy ent playin

I agree, the stg 2 r tech sticker has to go, looks a bit lame, sorry. I'd even get rid of the quattro sticker as well, but thats just me🤣
Awesome job mate, very helpful, keep it up cheers
Great vid mate. Looking to get a similar set up soon. Keep up the content 👍

Hi Smithy love the channel, just wondered with a stage one can u get it done without mods ?
You don’t need any hardware mods for stage 1. A lot of people change the intake before but more personnel preference

How would I get the heat shield for the intake what it called?
Call R Tech

Hi mate, what needs to be done to go just to stage 2?
Sports cat not decat
That’s the only mod?
Did the dsg need mapping at the same time? What tune can you get without the hpfp
R-Tech tweaked it a little. I ran 310BHP with just a stage 1 remap
How you doing pal what are your plans for the s3 next
Do you still have the S3? Any ideas of selling it?
Still have it, although it’s for sale

Not sure about TDI’s mate sorry
Have you got aircon?
Yes
im down the road from you got a 2009 dsg, booked in at rtec in feb for stage 1 be intresting to compare to yours?!
You’ll only end up wanting it to be stage 2+ 😂
Good video sir...bet that first drive made you smile....
Smiles per gallon 😎
1 grand extra for Intercooler set up, i wouldnt bother like yourself. Exhaust sounds is perfect not too dronish.
Where can you buy the r-tech stage 2 kit ?
It’s not a kit
Size alloys/tires you got onit?
225 40 18

From my experience with R-Tech it’s better to have the car remapped to the specific mods. Plus the R tech map is better than APR 👀
@@CarsWithSmithy when I bought the car it already had the map. The map is brilliant but don’t want to mess it up by adding a upgraded HPFP. Might have to leave it then! Cheers
have you done any handling mods ?
H&R springs, team dynamic pro race 1.2’s and Michellin PS4’s
