Dude. I am freaking addicted to your videos. It's hard to get stuff down at work haha. So my question is, have you ever dealt with the yips. If so, how did you get through it? I had a lot of potential as a ball player growing up, but lost my head due to some mental breakdowns and confidence issues that I could not get over. Thanks again for the vids!
When I worked for a minor league team, the BP balls were used balls taken out of games. New balls were only used in games. I don't remember exactly how many balls were used, but I remember there being at least a couple dozen balls needing to be rubbed down before the game. The balls were rubbed with some clay or dirt, probably to make them easier to grip and throw.
I was at Trevor Hoffman’s induction ceremony thing the Padres had for him back in August. I was out in San Diego watching the Padres square off against the Arizona Diamondbacks when they had that ceremony. The only reason why I was at that game was because I was competing in a FanDuel contest at part of the contest took us out to the game.
Hey Matt, who do you think is going to play in the World Series this year? I think it's going to be the Astros and Dodgers. Do you watch a lot of MLB games?
Hey Matt, Always wanted to know if there's a reason or explanation behind hitting for a ton of power in one year, but that's it? Like hitting 21 home runs one year, but never more then 9 another. Is it the ballparks you played in? Or do you have any idea/thought on it? Always wondered why that happened to players throughout their careers. Thanks.
@@AntonelliBaseball While playingO.C. Calif. Ball one wknd.Giants rookie league team showed up unannounced. My turn to pitch we win4-2. After 3rd. Thier 3rd base coach tells me Im pitching hell of a game. I was already 28 but sure made me happy to hear that. Great stories dude. Thanx.
Matt: I’m a 71 y/o life long Senator/Nats fan and wondered if any fans have ever gotten to sit in the dugout w/the players during a game. I wanted to be a first baseman w/the Senators when I was a kid but never had the talent.
You should make a video about if you had any friends (or acquaintances) during the minor leagues or major leagues that would become big names or all stars
I got to meet Trevor. He's a good guy. I was sitting field level at Qualcomm before a Sunday game. There was a season ticket holder autograph session on the plaza level. I wasn't interested in autographs so I just went to soak up some sun. After some time, both Trevor H and T Gwynn walked down the steps from plaza to field levels, they dropped onto the field and stopped where I was sitting and started a conversation with me. I tried to not look star struck. But soon I realized just how down to earth these two guys are/were . As a baseball fan, this really shaped my perceptions of what a pro should look like. Thanks Matt,
I was wondering if you have any tips on throwing a changeup. I've been interested in throwing one since I started pitching but I always get arm-side action. I understand pronating (for a righty) is turning the hand to the left but it doesn't seem to work. Do you have any tips?
Hey Matt, I've been real interested in your videos and I have a couple questions for you. First would be: what is your pregame ritual and what's the strangest one you encountered while playing. Secondly, who were the toughest pitchers you faced in your career?
I have a question to ask here: what was your (and your teammates') walk up music throughout your career? And can you tell us what your favorite was and why?
You know how it goes 0- Jackie Robinson 1- Ozzie Smith 2- Derek Jeter 3- Babe Ruth 4- Jose Fernandez 5- Albert Pujols 6- Alex Rodriguez 7- Micky Mantle 8- Mike Schmidt 9- Barry Bonds Reply who you get
Were you ever ejected at any level? What's it like when a player gets into an argument and when he gets a call he doesn't like and it seems like the umps are arrogant?
My dear momma saved all my 1967 little league hilite newspapers. Also got me Casey Stengal auto. while working at Sahara Tahoe casino. Wish Id made the Bigs more for her. What a gal.😘
Did you ever participate in a Kangaroo Court? What was the experience like? Best Kangaroo Court you ever heard of or participated in? How its used in the MLB and anything you can tell us about it.
That story could have been much worse. She could have had stories... "Yeah, when he was in tee-ball he used to do the potty dance when he was out in the field, and then one time he was out there doing the potty dance and he stopped..." lol
Are you making any money with this youtube channel? I hear ad revenue is bad right now. Is this still worth your time? Just curious. I like your videos. Big baseball fan and curious about what life is like as a player and such. Thanks
Vin Scully throwing shade on me would be the highlight of my life. That's how you know you accomplished something special, bro!
I lost my shit when you said why the hell was trevor Hoffman talking to my mom. Hahaha.
what was your walk up song

Craig Colby what are the “YIPS?”
What is your best and worst experience with a fan/fans? Also how many baseballs does a team go through in just one day counting game and BP balls?
When I worked for a minor league team, the BP balls were used balls taken out of games. New balls were only used in games. I don't remember exactly how many balls were used, but I remember there being at least a couple dozen balls needing to be rubbed down before the game. Wouldnt mind a video on social life in the MLB and if you still talk to your old teammates.
Who was your best Mlb friend?
How prevalent is Dip and Chewing Tobacco in pro ball? Thanks!
Rob Hanft not lots of dudes do anymore about 100
Rob Hanft it's banned in most ballparks now
harper always has a hammer in
MooseKnuckle someone (i think one of his coaches) said that it’s not actually dip but it’s some herbal stuff.
Your mom told on you to Trevor Hoffman? That is amazing
Haha yup!
Antonelli, you signed my glove at a game a while back. You're awesome. Love the Padres. :)
Hey Matt, who do you think is going to play in the World Series this year? I think it's going to be the Astros and Dodgers. Do you watch a lot of MLB games?
They are both definitely super talented. I love watching the Astros play right now
Called it!

Some was health. I never really played a full season other than the one I hit 21 home runs in. The other was my swing. My swing felt best in 07.

This is my favorite new (to me) channel on youtube. Love the content.
Thanks so much! Thanks for watching and commenting!
What's up Bud. Can you please do a video on getting toss ups during BP/Games and how to talk to players from stands to get a ball. Thank you
I really think its all about luck honestly
You should make a video about if you had any friends (or acquaintances) during the minor leagues or major leagues that would become big names or all stars
Preston Rios he already mentioned playing with wade leBlanc in short season A

Matthew Peck he's a third basemen
I say throw it like a fastball, but let the grip take the speed off. Just need to find a grip that gives you a good feel
Hey Matt, I've been real interested in your videos and I have a couple questions for you. First would be: what is your pregame ritual and what's the strangest one you encountered while playing. Secondly, who were the toughest pitchers you faced in your career?

Worst Teamates You've had
CR4 There's no way he'd name names
mirraco323 That's what I was thinking but worth a shot
CR4 Probably also Trevor Hoffman. He's so friendly, he talks to people when they are trying to poop.
Great video Matt!
The boys had to be teasing you about your mom talking to Hoffman lol
I don't think anyone else saw thankfully lol
ok your vin scully impersonation was pretty good
Hahahaha the way you told this story was amazing. Well done.
Have you ever been a part of any all star game? If so what was it like
Minor leagues went to single A and Triple A all star game. It was a ton of fun!
Antonelli Baseball please do a video
I feel like most people’s most embarrassing moment would involve their mom. 😂
That's a damn good Vin Scully voice!
Haha thanks!!
What's the mood and attitude like after a player makes an error that costs the team the game?
Most guys are pretty good at not getting on players after making mistakes just cause it's part of the game. Can be frustrating though for sure
What is it like seeing yourself in sporting news; do players tend to worry about that criticism?
Did you ever play with Heath Bell?
Yup with the Padres. Good guy!
I would love a autograph baseball too add to my collection
"Not many players would come and sit down and talk to a mom, although my mom probably cornered him. trapped him." LMAO

Whst is It like in a MLB clubhouse before and after a game?
What are some cool things you have done to give back to the community as an MLB representative?
I did a bunch of stuff while out in SD. The team did a really good job of getting all of us involved both in the Major Leagues and the Minor Leagues.
There can't be 6 "1sts"
Preston Hawk yes, 6 divisions so 6 1st place teams
Why the hell is my mom talking to Trevor Hoffman may be the single greatest quote of all time
Haha thanks!
Could you give your views on Pete Rose not being in the HOF and if you think the steroid kings deserve to be in the HOF.

Are you making any money with this youtube channel? I hear ad revenue is bad right now. Is this still worth your time? Just curious. I like your videos. Big baseball fan and curious about what life is like as a player and such. Thanks
