@@ChrisGenau Noch nicht so ganz, aber ich probiere Verschiedenes undmit jeder Session kommen Fortschrittchen und Sicherheit. Macht superviel Freude, auf dem Board zu stehen!
I often get compliments on my backside snaps, but really it is because I am just starting it with a BS kickturn and all the slide pressure ends up on the back inside wheel for an easy and smooth looking motion. Great skill to know.
Yes this is so so true!! You also just perfectly described the way I'm doing (and seems like you're doing it too 🤙🏼) the backside snap. I know it's not the only technique, but once you have it down, it's one that works and looks pretty nice too 🔥 psyched that you have these unlocked for yourself all along 🌊
@@chrisgenau925 Yeah, basically start a backside kick turn, but then with my back foot I almost scoop the edge of my board to really push it outwards as I am rotating. It results in getting a really sweet looking 270 degree over-rotation and then you just turn the front trucks back down the ramp when you ride away.
Haha no worries =) it's great that I figured out which people I'm making videos for, and thereby am able to help you guys out - I'm finally done with my med school finals and will soon put out new and more content again anything you really want to see my friend? =)
I just started to surfskate. I did buy a YOW 34,5. Still learning how to ride and stand safely on the board, and I don't know if I can even do a kick turn on it because my board is so heavy and long (I am quite small and light). But I wanna try as soon as I feel stable enough! Thx for your video!
I‘m 100% sure that with the correct technique you’ll be able to do it in no time :) It seems that you might have made this a little bit more hard by your board of choice BUT anything is possible with ANY board. Don’t let anyone ever tell you anything else :) You’ve got this!!! 🙌
@@ChrisGenau Thank you! I chose this board because I feel very comfortable on it as a beginner. I've never stood on a board before. Later I would like a smaller, lighter one. But I'll probably need a lot more practice before then. I will definitely keep going, it's so much fun! 😊
I was wondering why anyone would want to do a kickturn on a surf skate, and your answers satisfied my curiosity. However I do not agree with your explation of the kick turn. If you lift up your front foot before initiating the turn with your shoulders, all you can do is counter rotate (upper body one way, lower body the other way). The reason this does not happen (it happens a little bit at the end of your turns sometimes) when you actually show it is because you do it right. The way I would explain it is to open up your shoulders (pre wind), then start rotating. Lift up the front foot when your shoulders are parallel to the board, and now your body and board will be moving as one using your momentum. Its like jumping a 180 (no skateboard). If you just jump straight up, and in the air you decide you want to turn a 180, you cant. You can only twist your legs one way and upper body the other way. If you want to jump a 180 you'll have to swing your arms or shoulders, time it so that your feet leave the ground when your shoulders are parallel to your feet, and then your upper and lower body sync up. Just my 2 cents, hope it helps.
Yes, when you put it that way, I guess you have a very valid point. I think the jump analogy is not 100% representative as with the kickturn your still connected to the bottom and not fully "in air" bit I get what you're saying, and have to admit you're probably right :) it's somehow hard to put into perspective and break down a thing one has done for so long 🤷♂️ :D but I guess you know that Rob :)
Thanks for the straight-to-the-point tutorial dude, it will come in handy! I started skating and surfskating a few months ago (I'm 32 and had never done board sports) so even the easy stuff feels either challenging or outright intimidating, including relatively simple stuff like riding off a curb. I was playing around in some slopes near where I live and was actually wondering how the heck I could do a very narrow turn on them, and the kickturn is definitely a way! I'll go check your other vidsos ✌
Wow that is awesome 👏 congrats to you for starting out and learning something brand new in your 30s. I know skateboarding can be intimidating, especially when so many things look crazy smooth from the outside, but are so hard to get right and coordinated the when only starting out.
