    Regarding the Medium vs Large DSLR core units, the Shimoda lists them as having an inner height of 27cm and 40cm. Your video on the Sony 70-200 GM II paired with the TC2 was fantastic, and I was curious if you found it possible to use the side access pocket with the 70-200 GM II + TC2 on camera body? Thank you for your work here!

    Good review. I just purchased this pack in this size with the Large ICU. I first bought the Action x40 with the Medium ICU but it really will not fit my D800 with a 70-200 2.8 attached. Even removed, that lens and a few other larger Nikon lenses would not fit very well, so I returned it to the shop. Maybe for someone with a mirrorless and smaller zooms, the Medium will work and at that the 40 litre - a size that I prefer. All of this said, the 50 with the larger unit is super nice and fits most everything, however compromising some of the top space above the ICU. All of this solvable with a medium unit and leaving the bigger lenses home. The only bag that I have owned that is of this quality is my Dana Design hiking camping backpack from about 23 years ago. If it could be retrofitted into a camera bag with an ICU, it would have been perfect, but that was not part of its original design (pun intended). Too bad that Dana was bought by some other company and they are no longer available. I agree that there is not ONE bag/pack that will do it all for all conditions of intended use. This Action x50 V2 is amazing but for shorter outings or in a more "social" setting (urban), it is a bit overkill. The new Urban Explorer system by Shimoda might be a good alternative for someone seeking this.

    The backpack is great, but the price is completely outrageous. Any backpack with the word "photographic" in its name costs twice as much as its "non-photographic" version. In this case, the price is completely crazy!

    Great review, Olle. Looks like a solid backpack. I have been through so many like you have with no luck to the perfect bag for my hiking/photography needs. The last few years i have been using traditional hiking bag by Osprey (36L) with a camera insert and it does a great job for about $250 and I can adjust on the fly with the insert at the bottom, and my hiking gear at the top.Only negitive is i need to pull the insert out every time i need to access my camera gear. I like a few designs by Fstop and Atlas, but at $500 its a hard pass for me.

    Mindshift Backlight 36l - fits the 200-600mm with battery grip and the hood fitted, with still lots of room for a second body, other lenses, or jacket, etc.

    Hey Nillson, great video as always! Is there a possibility that you can make a new video using again the Sony Xperia 1V? I really liked the other one so much! You really showed it's capabilities and I was wondering if I should buy one as a begginer "photographer". I never used a camera, but I kinda developed a passion for taking "cozy" photos of anything (that warm look/feel on photos). Would you recommend it for a beginner (I'm still not sure if to preorder it or not..)? Are there enough details captured by it so I can play around editing the photos afterwards? Did you edit the photos after shooting them in the previous video? If yes, what did you use?
    Thanks once again for what you do, Nilsson! And I hope you can make a new one using that phone to put it to the test (maybe even harsher scenarios), that would be great!

    Good video as always my friend! The backpack looks insanely well made. I can't decide which size I need for my bag... Still rocking my Douchebag Hugger which is a pain for hiking. But need something that is not to big either, and still can rock both the 200-600 and 70-200 with to camera bodies 😂 I think I am too needy

  • @daviddrbal488
    @daviddrbal488 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    For sure very well-done backpack. Still, I prefer more flexibility to adjust the backpack to my needs. Looks like this backpack doesn't allow extending the space by adding some molle system pouches or strapping extra stuff on. I use Adventure from Gitzo, so far same roll-on-top system and size. The Molle system, even on the belt, is plus for me. I think all the top Shimoda, f-stop or Gitzo can provide great backpacks for our needs. Wish u a great time to spend together and enjoy every moment in nature.

    I’m currently using x50 v1 and like it a lot so far. I have the large dslr cube which “just fits” my 200-600 with battery grip. Would love to get the v3 of there cube for this very reason. Can’t agree with you more on the shoulder straps, honestly the most comfortable bag I’ve tried, and my kit isn’t light. Glad to hear you like it as well!

      @@DamienOnTheGo I haven’t brought it on a plane yet. I think it would of you don’t fill the top part up. There is a hack that shimoda has a video on that shows you how to take the internal frame out if your interested. I have travelled with the peak design 45l without any issue other than the fact the bag was the most uncomfortable bag I have ever worn. I literally sold it the day after I got home it was so bad. Cool design, worst backpack I’ve ever put on

      @@reggaecook9435 so funny you mention the Peak Design 45L because that’s what I have and while I love how much gear I can carry it’s the most uncomfortable bag. Thanks for the reply! Much appreciated.

    Actually I've been using a FStop Tilopa, with the Sony A1 and the Sony 200-600G lens, plus the Sony A9, as a second body, the Sony ZV-E10 , another lens - usually the 20-70mm f/4 or a macro lens. Then there are spare batteries, filters, remote control, as well as a jacket, a knife, some food. The weight is big, and often I need to lug aroung other stuff, like the Atomos Ninja V, with its battery, cable... so the weight get bigger, and I have to use extra bag to attach to the Tilopa. Too stuff for a such a backpack. I think I need a bigger one, to fill it with all my stuff 😅 Anyway Olle, your video are always really, really interesting, so thanks for sharing. Ciao!!!

    Hey quick question, I have the same bag v1 and so far it’s been awesome. I have the 200-600 as well with the large cube like you. Just out of curiosity, cause mine is opposite, why did you choose to have the body at the bottom of the bag and the lens facing up vs the other way around? It was hard to find out layout suggestions on this very question I had. Do you think it’s better to have the body take the weight vs the lens? Interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

    I have a love hate relationship with my Shimoda AX50. I love all the options it comes with and the camera storage system. However on longer strenuous hikes this backpack really starts to hurt to a point that the muscles in my upper back start to cramp up. I have the feeling the shoulder straps (or the way they are positioned) are the problem. With my old Lowepro I've never had this issue but I like the Lowepro less when it comes to packing options.
