If a filibuster remains, then debate should center on top, NOT READING DR. SUSSE. NOT READING THE ENTIRE BIBLE. This is the problem. Once a senator has the floor his/ her argument MUST be on the merits of the bill in question. This constant distraction of reading extraneous material is just an obstructionist ploy. And that holds for both sides. This will facilitate a quicker end (hopefully). If points are redundant, the opposition can object that it is off point, where the speak must explain, then be cut it off. Finished. OR this option - THERE IS A TWO HOUR DEBATE LIMIT. FINA! DONE! After which a VOTE TAKES PLACE. Finally, we have to also revert back to the ORIGINAL CONSTITUTION of majority vote. Not this McConnell monstrosity of 2/3's. Again this applies to BOTH SIDES. DEM's and Reb's. Get on with it. If we continue to go this route, will be backing into the dark ages by the end of Bidens first term. DO THE GODDAMN JOB YOU WERE ELECTED TO DO. PASS LEGISLATION!

@@hdbrot The point of a filibuster is to stall for time long enough that the allotted time for a bill/appointment/other legislation to be voted on expires. If it expires, the bill is rejected. Sometimes, this tactic is done for good. Other times, not so much. In this case, the nominee for CIA director was a monster who advocated for and employed torture tactics. Unfortunately for Rand Paul, he got the job and served for four years under Obama from 2013 - 2017.

Lets calm down... We can't put a 13 hour video on TH-cam. 3 minutes may not show everything. This is the kings burger where you can have what you want but don't get crazy.

exactly how is this a " good thing & a brilliant strategical tactic " ? it looks like something a child would do in kindergarten ! also why is national health care regarded as bad by many Americans ? if U don't want it don't use it , simple . use private health care instead .

Fucking ridiculous... Filibuster.. we actually pay congress to sit around and watch just 1 guy babble and ramble on for 12 hours about irrelevant bullshit and everyone else just sits there and watches him. I know this video is old but just wanted to see an example of what a filibuster was.

Joe Biden said that the filibuster grossly overused last year - but, he didn’t mention that it was almost exclusively Democrats who used it.
Republicans used it once. Democrats used it 327 times.

i love people that use the "bush used drone strike too" arguement. this was not about taking out imminent threats. in fact holder had argued that the threat didnt need to be imminent. so why would an american terrorist on US soil not just be arrested? drone strikes on terrorist in parts of the world that our troops cannot get to are a lot different than drone strikes in pasadena. what if dick cheney is our next president? do you want him to be able to use drone strikes on occupy?

I do not mean to offend when I say you didn't pick up on how I meant to say it. You know what I mean about the Bush sentence, American citizen now, back then "collateral damage" (countless people caught in blasts). I'm not looking to argue, and we both disagree. Lets not waste time going at eachother, instead pray Congress does something to make it so something is done for the good.
