It's a decent song, but MH has relied heavily on the soft, melodic (string instruments) intros into heavy riffs for the past few album. It sounds a little stale. However, this is the only song on the album that I have in my 2018 playlist.

I would have to agree with the FFDP and Machine Head albums for sure.Machine Head is acting like its 1996 all over again, maybe they should go tour with Limp Bizkit . And FFDP. If anyone considers them true metal,they dont know metal music. Terrible writing, autotuned songs, repetitive and super cheesy. Tons of potential and its being wasted with mainstream style music and album covers that look like they could be a skull shirt you would see at Walmart haha. These bands have lost there way as far as creativity, musicianship and overall quality of a band. And Ministry hahaha... Dont even get me started. I will also throw in the new Disturbed album. It seems the band has really gone straightline as far as song writing and performance goes. There are some good high points in some of the songs, but I found myself feeling as if I was listening to the same songs over and over. It didnt seem to hit a climax on this album. Unlike their last album with The Sound of Silence. It was a new element. But with this album It gets close but doesnt quite reach it. It doesnt make me go oh wow that is the best part or big moment. I am not saying this is a bad band or top 10 worst album. But they have become predictable and find I am listening to the same album.
Makes me think back to when Machine Head released The Blackening. It got album of the year from Metal Hammer and I'm pretty sure a 10/10. They could've ended up being a stadium headlining band if they kept going that way. A lot of metal heads would hate me for this but my favorite album of theirs is The Burning Red. It flows from start to finish perfect and the closing title track is a beautiful touching song that guided me through some hard times.
Although I don't mind a few songs on Catharsis and overall, I am a die hard Machine Head fan; I can help but feel betrayed. Not by the band as a whole, but by Robb Flynn's poor ideas that seemed to be pushed upon the other members. Dave and Phill pretty much said it was the reason why they quit and I honestly can't blame them. They actually wanted to create something Machine Head worthy, but like I said, ideas were forced by Robb, and they didn't want anything to do with it. How the fuck does a band like MH, fuck up this bad considering their last 14 years worth of music has been flawless?!? MH will never be the same again.

As far as the best albums of 2018, I bet most of you haven't even heard the self-titled debut by Great Leap Skyward or Morkrets Tid by Svavelvinter. I strongly recommend you check both albums out if you have never heard of them. They are both fighting for album of the year on my top ten list.

I really liked 1000hp not sure wtf they were thinking on this latest album. It’s just weak and songs are so short. Give 1000hp another listen. I bet they come back with a straight up ripper next.
I must say I've been a ministry fan for almost a decade but amerikkkant was a big disappointment compared to their last album due to the fact that it felt like it was rushed to be released in order to get more attention
I wouldn't say Catharsis is THAT bad. It's their worst album of the last, like, six they out out but there are some decent songs on there. I think anyway. Behind a Mask, Screaming at the Sun, Heavy Lies the Crown, and Beyond the Pale are good songs. Rest is okay or mediocre/bad but it's certainly not my least favourite album released this year.
I think compared to almost everything on this list the Five Finger Death Punch had the best album. It was better than disturbed this year. Disturbed has gone down the drain😂

I'll tell you what CKN, some of these albums about made me bust a vein myself in frustration. But hopefully by the end of the Best Albums of 2018, we'll all be feeling just a little bit better. Though I will say that I, like you, know Five Finger Death Punch can produce great music, and it frustrates me when they just come up with average, or not good music. I did however like their cover of the Kenny Wayne Shepherd classic, Blue on Black. So, there's at least one good thing to say about them besides the obvious, which would be, glad to see them all healthy and working together again. I am glad that Ivan Moody is in a better state.
Ministry Amerikkkant was really bad and extremely disappointing. So pissed I purchase this album first rather than just stream it first. So regretting supporting this band with my $$$ never again.
I really liked Godsmack’s WLR until the band admitted they hired outside song writers. Really sucked the authentic feel right from it. I thought Just One Time was lyrically a fantastic song and gave me hope that Godsmack still ‘has it’. Bummer. Learning of that lazy move has helped me gravitate to Clutch’s older material, so there’s that.

I have to say my worst album of 2018 is Vicious by Halestorm...I was so disappointed when I first heard the album because I know Halestorm can do much better. Out of the 14 track album (I bought the Walmart deluxe edition) there were only 3 good songs and 2 decent songs. I'm not angry just so very disappointed
I listened to Catharsis last night. Holy shit its bad!! I feel like there are a few pretty good songs but omg did they not flow with the album. I found out 6/15 songs i enjoyed. Thats less than half the album. Its long, boring, and mediocre machine head riffs. Everytime I'd hear a good riff, Rob just had to fuck it up with his lyrics and vocals. It got to the point where i was like "How can Rob fuck this song up?!"
Those who like Deicide's new one, you have plenty of other bands to listen to, which released better music. Go listen to new albums by Aborted, Krisiun, Pig Destroyer, Hate Eternal or Monstrosity. Those bands released some killer shit this year. Enjoy!

Anyone else disappointed by the new Pig Destroyer album. You'd think in a span of six years since their last album they would have come up with at least one rnew refreshing or creative idea. But Heacage was so slow and boring, it's not even Grind anymore.
Machine Head is historically a great band (never a favorite but usually good nonetheless) and this is one of the albums I've cringed the most to in recent years... Godsmack is a childhood favorite, so this year's release was kind of depressing... The song "Unforgettable" has a title that fits itself because I'll never forget one of the worst, most annoying blow pop choruses I've ever heard from a childhood band... I never really liked Bullet for My Valentine and Five Finger Death Punch, so I'm not surprised, to be honest...I purposedly avoided Ministry... The only album I'd add to this list is the latest TNT album, which is an 80s hard rock band I've thoroughly enjoyed but couldn't get past three songs on the new record... Other than that nothing in 2018 particularly pisses me off, just a lot of mediocre albums that I'll never give a second listen, shit loads of prog, black metal and djent that just overplay already clichéd core aspects and are at a creative low point with zero originality, and every now and then something like Ghost and the new Sleep album which I thought were really overrated and being spammed as the best albums of 2018 by the people who don't wanna look too opinionated and just admit that well-rounded veterans like Judas Priest and Saxon or even more "mainstream" artists like Stone Temple Pilots and Alice in Chains put out great records, much better than the modern niches or underground heroes... I used to think Breaking Benjamin was a cringy band when I was a kid and they actually put out a much better album than Godsmack (which to me was like their polar opposite in the past)... Talk about a shift...
Well, I've been a Ministry fan since Filth Pig. I will say I was not impressed at all with the first single ANTIFA, it really put me off. The second single Wargasm did lift my spirits a bit, I didn't mind the song. It had a Killing Joke vibe to it. I did ended up buying the album of course and in my opinion, I didn't think it was that terrible, but it wasn't a great album either. Yeah, it's a typical Anti-republican album which was what I expected, Uncle Al always was a liberal dude. I just found the album pretty damn average which sits somewhere in the middle of the Ministry catalogue, but I always skip that song ANTIFA. God, that song blows chunks...

The Robots Made Me Do It agreed 100%. The Burning Red gets way too much shit. It’s one of their best albums

1. I have to say my worst album of 2018 is Vicious by Halestorm...I was so disappointed when I first heard the album because I know Halestorm can do much better. Out of the 14 track album (I bought the Walmart deluxe edition) there were only 3 good songs and 2 decent songs. I'm not angry just so very disappointed

I listened to Catharsis last night. Holy shit its bad!! I feel like there are a few pretty good songs but omg did they not flow with the album. I found out 6/15 songs i enjoyed. Thats less than half the album. Its long, boring, and mediocre machine head riffs. Everytime I'd hear a good riff, Rob just had to fuck it up with his lyrics and vocals. It got to the point where i was like "How can Rob fuck this song up?!"

Those who like Deicide's new one, you have plenty of other bands to listen to, which released better music. Go listen to new albums by Aborted, Krisiun, Pig Destroyer, Hate Eternal or Monstrosity. Those bands released some killer shit this year.

Anyone else disappointed by the new Pig Destroyer album. You'd think in a span of six years since their last album they would have come up with at least one rnew refreshing or creative idea. But Heacage was so slow and boring, it's not even Grind anymore.

Machine Head is historically a great band (never a favorite but usually good nonetheless) and this is one of the albums I've cringed the most to in recent years... Godsmack is a childhood favorite, so this year's release was kind of depressing... The song "Unforgettable" has a title that fits itself because I'll never forget one of the worst, most annoying blow pop choruses I've ever heard from a childhood band... I never really liked Bullet for My Valentine and Five Finger Death Punch, so I'm not surprised, to be honest...I purposedly avoided Ministry... The only album I'd add to this list is the latest TNT album, which is an 80s hard rock band I've thoroughly enjoyed but couldn't get past three songs on the new record... Other than that nothing in 2018 particularly pisses me off, just a lot of mediocre albums that I'll never give a second listen, shit loads of prog, black metal and djent that just overplay already clichéd core aspects and are at a creative low point with zero originality, and every now and then something like Ghost and the new Sleep album which I thought were really overrated and being spammed as the best albums of 2018 by the people who don't wanna look too opinionated and just admit that well-rounded veterans like Judas Priest and Saxon or even more "mainstream" artists like Stone Temple Pilots and Alice in Chains put out great records, much better than the modern niches or underground heroes... I used to think Breaking Benjamin was a cringy band when I was a kid and they actually put out a much better album than Godsmack (which to me was like their polar opposite in the past)... Talk about a shift...

Well, I've been a Ministry fan since Filth Pig. I will say I was not impressed at all with the first single ANTIFA, it really put me off. The second single Wargasm did lift my spirits a bit, I didn't mind the song. It had a Killing Joke vibe to it. I did ended up buying the album of course and in my opinion, I didn't think it was that terrible, but it wasn't a great album either. Yeah, it's a typical Anti-republican album which was what I expected, Uncle Al always was a liberal dude. I just found the album pretty damn average which sits somewhere in the middle of the Ministry catalogue, but I always skip that song ANTIFA. God, that song blows chunks...
