An earlier Seera of the prophet called the Seera Maghazi was discovered after it was lost for centuries. It is earlier than ibn ishaaq. Perhaps BT may invite an expert to talk about it.
Tarikh al Maghazi (History of the Prophet's (saws) Military Campaigns) is attributed to Ibn Waqid al Aslami, aka al Waqidi. Imam ash Shafii (rh) said of him: "there were 7 in al Madinah who used to fabricate authorities. Al Waqidi was one of them". Imam al Bukhari (rh) said of him: " he has been abandoned in hadith. He fabricated hadith". Imam Dhahabi (rh) said there is consensus al Waqidi is a liar who fabricates. While it may be interesting to read al Waqidi's works, the reality is there are fabrications and weak narrations which can mislead common folk who do not know they are fabrications.
Wow, this is great! Imagine we can talk with "prophet's companion" through AI technology. I always curious about how wealthy is Abdurrahman ibn auf , i want to"talk" to him and ask all the detail of his strategy in economy (lots of moslem are in poor country, or have a difficulties in term of financial like debt, riba etc)
Thank you, brilliant informatic discussion, indeed living in the west have more bigger opportunity to explore our hidden treasure of Islam in all dimension to understand how, when& what happened in first 500 of Muslim Hijara.
Significant changes to the Torah occurred after the Prophet Muhammad (SAAW) was sent. This can be sensed from Quran 5:41-43, especially verse 43, which highlights alteration had taken place likely after that incident for at least one issue: "But how is it that they come to you for judgment while they have the Torah, in which is the judgment of Allah? Then they turn away, [even] after that; but those are not [in fact] believers" (Quran 5:43). One possible reason for these alterations, specifically at that time, is that the Jewish community expected the final prophet to be exclusively for them, as they were accustomed to having prophets sent specifically to their nation. This belief is supported by Quran 2:89, which speaks about their rejection of Prophet Muhammad: "And when there came to them a Book from Allah confirming that which was with them-although before they used to pray for victory against those who disbelieved-but [then] when there came to them that which they recognized, they disbelieved in it; so the curse of Allah will be upon the disbelievers" (Quran 2:89). Today's Torah doesn't have that. Nevertheless, even at that time, the Torah likely still contained verses that were original and divinely revealed. To illustrate this, imagine writing a document that includes verses from the Quran. Even though the majority of the document is your own writing, the verses from the Quran would still command respect, and you would not be permitted to treat the document carelessly. Similarly, while the Torah had been altered, it still contained portions that came directly from Allah, and therefore, deserved respect. In fact, Quran 6:108 instructs Muslims not to insult the deities of other religions, even if they worship idols: "And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do" (Quran 6:108). So, if we are instructed not to insult the false gods of other religions, how much more respect should we show for a book that at least contains some words from God? Now, regarding Dr. Sadeq Ansari quoting Tahawi: with all due respect, books like Tahawi's and similar works are comparable to writings in churches and synagogues. In Islam, we do not have a church or hierarchy of religious authority. The ultimate reference is the Quran and authentic Hadith, and if these are followed, one will not go astray. Relying on any individual’s interpretation, regardless of their status, can lead to deviation from the truth. The command is clear: follow the Quran and the Prophet (SAAW) alone, as stated in Quran 7:3: "Follow, [O mankind], what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other than Him any allies. Little do you remember" (Quran 7:3). In fact, Tahawi made several significant errors. For example, he classified wiping over shoes during wudu (ablution) as a matter of 'Aqeedah (creed), which is incorrect. He even included this in his book on creed. Furthermore, Tahawi advocated blind following of certain people, which is a dangerous approach. The only person we are to follow without question is the Prophet Muhammad (SAAW). Additionally, Tahawi made the flawed assumption that one must either follow the People of the Book or the Mushrikeen (idol worshipers), when in reality, there is no need to follow anyone but the Quran and the authentic Sunnah. Quran 15:9 reassures us that Allah has promised to preserve the Quran: "Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian" (Quran 15:9). To put it plainly, Tahawi's reasoning reflects limited intellectual capacity, and it's surprising that more people haven't recognized the flaws in his logic. His classification of wiping over shoes as part of creed is just one example of how misguided his thinking can be. Furthermore, when Dr. Ansari cited Tahawi as saying one must either follow the People of the Book or the Mushrikeen, this is even more troubling. The principle is simple: if something is found in the Quran or authentic Hadith, follow it. If not, you are free to act according to your discretion, even if a scholar issues a fatwa on the matter. If it wasn’t explicitly prescribed by Allah through His Messenger, it holds no binding authority. Moreover, Tahawi’s limited mentality suggests that on issues where Allah has left things open, he assumes one must blindly follow an established religious authority. But who’s to say that in matters left open by Allah, a Mushrik (polytheist) might not have a better idea? For example, managing a database or constructing a train system-these are worldly matters that don’t require religious ruling. In fact, the pre-Islamic Arabs had qualities such as pride, dignity, and resistance to oppression, which may have had positive aspects. On the other hand, some Christians might appear to surrender to abuse under the guise of humility, when in fact it could be weakness. Finally, Brother Paul, I hope you have checked your email. I sent you a couple of messages, including one yesterday. Please take a look when you have the time.
All these details are known to Muslim scholars and are also documented in various seerah books. The tragedy is the obsession to stay within Bukhari only
Since chatGPT has been mentioned several times, how would chatGPT contribute to Sirah's progress in the future? I am looking forward to the outcome of a new Sirah Book.
So the Hadith claiming the the wife of the prophet had a dog is apparently extremely weak and may have been fabricated; as one of the narrators in the chain is accused of stealing fabricated Hadith and then narrating them. Hence, what is the point of just mentioning random info as though we are adding something to the scholarly tradition without verifying it first? It is against the tradition of the scholars of Hadith. That is enough for me of this video.
Interesting facts indeed. Is it possible to give us the source of Maymouna's dog? The Only thing I know about that is the hadith in Muslim about the dog under Maymouna's bed that stopped an angel from entering the house... Is there anything else ? If so, where ? Thank you
That proves that this dog was not meant to come inside the house, so it was most likely a stray that used to visit or one normally kept outside. Dogs and images keep Angels away from houses
Belief in Angels is one of the articles of faith. We believe there are Angels of rememberence that were created who enter homes of people reciting Quran, and doing Allah's Dhikr in order to bear witness bear to it and affirm it to Allah SWT, even though Allah knows everything. Remember Allah, the most Merciful has said in surah Nur of the Quran that he is the origin of light(Nur) and that a similar light(nur) is lit in the houses of people who mention Allah quite often. We know that Allah created the Angels with a similar light(Nur) so they are therfore attracted to it. Wherever these angels enter, shaitans flee therefrom. We know that these angels don't go near people who are in a state of nijasah (impurity). Dogs saliva is also a form of nijasah. The smell of dogs is strong because of their saliva and people who keep them also carry this strong smell. We know that dogs are also dangerous because they have issues with anger management. It is known thatbchildren, elderly and adult owners of pet dogs have been injured or killed, when the dog turned on them. Lastly, as you have heard from people who keep them, dogs make better companions than Cats whereas Allah created men and women to be companions of each other. I could say alot more but i am short of time. Please read the hadith below. It is one of the most authentic hadith out there. May Allah bless you all and give you abundant goodness Abu Talhah reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog, nor an image in a likeness.” Abu Talhah said, “The Prophet means by likeness an image of living souls.” Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3225, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2106 Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi (authenticity agreed upon) according to Al-Bukhari and Muslim
@SKyser-i5k All information about angels (malaikat) is "ghayb" that must be based in "naas" Divine texts (Quran a/o Sunnah). They are real beings with distinct features known only to Allah Who allows His prophets & messengers to attain certain information about them, and that information also provided in the Holy Quran. Thus, the authentic narration from the Prophet (saws) in which he said angels are averse to dogs. Allah AWJ empowered mankind to domesticate certain animals to benefit human societies and ease life. Domestication of dogs has been absolutely important to mankind, especially in early human history. But now, mankind no longer depends on dogs.
Bonjour Paul William, il faudrait tenir compte des recherches dans les autres sources historiques afin d'apporter une couverture plus large (exogènes, des sources grecques, arméniennes, syriaques, non musulmanes).
It looks like the project might benefit those who either lack trust in the scholars or knowledge. The interview was a good insight but fell short due to skipping the sources and/or stating he isn't an expert. I guess the project work is in its infancy but brother Paul be careful when you bring in a guest who cannot fully provide details as they say half truth is worse than a lie. It can create a fitnah. May Allah Bless you. Ameen.
Since ancient times, dogs has been used as guard dogs over life and property.. It cannot be denied that one cannot help but love any animal that show obedience and loyalty. One should look at the Hadith, where no wahyu was forthcoming to Rasullulah SAW when he was in his wife, A'isyah ra house and it turn out that it was because there was a dog in the house. It does not mean that we should be cruel to dogs or any animals to prove a point. We should understand that dogs were created for a specific purpose as protectors of life and property.
1. The Prophet's SAW respect towards another people's book, perhaps it is just that, a respectful gesture. Why does it have anything to do with what the book was? We are also told to respect the religions of others to a degree, and to protect their monks/priests and their temples/churches etc. 2. Who said the torah that they had 1440 years ago is the same or even similar to the one we have today?
A question for brother paul. In Matthew 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ If jesus was talking about 'workers of lawlessness' what law is he referring to??
9:58 referring to the story of Bilaal RD as based on "Hadeeth". Hadeeth must be quoted as "Prophet pbh said" did the Prophet pbh mentioned this story about Bill RD? Please clarify.
When we are distracted by nonsense this is what happens to the best of us! What Torah, what "book", which language was it in when only priests had access to it in rolls???????
About the torah if I'm not mistaken. is not allowed for non Jew to touch it. As for the Prophet to give his seat , for me is an act of tolerance. Where I remember the Prophet signed the Hudaibiyah Treaty which to some sahabahs as not being a fair terms. Again an act of tolerance for the benefit of the Believers .
All books of hadith contain many chapters on sirah of the Prophet, peace be upon him, such as the Book of Maghazi in Bukhari. Ibn Ishaq's or Ibn Hisham's books on sirah are not the only books that contain history of the Prophet. In fact, many of their narration are not even authentic.
No reference to the authenticity of the Hadith about Maymoona RA having a dog. Extreme Caution should be taken in the new things which are contrary to the authentically established matters.
It doesn't mean that the prophet's wife mamuna had a dog inside her house. Back in Pakistan I always had a dog but it was only an outdoor dog. Dogs were never allowed inside the house. You're mixing two subjects together. Dogs were always allowed in Islam but for outdoor purposes and hunting in other areas. Just go look at pet shelters in your city and you will see they are filled to the capacity, with abandoned dogs and cats. In the society that I live in, people are raising dogs and cats instead of having children. Allah, knows best.
Those narrations that were mentioned by Dr. Sadeq are not authentic, so there is a reason why they were not included in the classical books. For example at 9:30 the story of the dog المِسْمَارُ has no narration and it simply false ابن أبي أويس ضعيف جدا وابن معبد لم يسمع من ميمونة
The entire Muslim Jewish and Christian world has neglected the most fundamental aspect all prophets had fought for which is the oneness of God and against idol worship and the first commandment out of the 10 commandments too Due to this negligence one religion of idol worshippers have grown in to a mighty force of 1 billion+ Naturally even the Dajjal himself will arise from them as the leader of these idol worshippers. They are the Hindus of India They also practice untouchability and caste among themselves that has been mentioned in AlQuran too Besides Al Quran says these polytheists and Jews will join and fight against Muslims which is already happening in Israel Muslim scholarship need to focus on the existential threat to Islam and world peace

Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam ♥️
Wow, this is great! Imagine we can talk with "prophet's companion" through AI technology. I always curious about how wealthy is Abdurrahman ibn auf , i want to"talk" to him and ask all the detail of his strategy in economy (lots of moslem are in poor country, or have a difficulties in term of financial like debt, riba etc)
Thank you, brilliant informatic discussion, indeed living in the west have more bigger opportunity to explore our hidden treasure of Islam in all dimension to understand how, when& what happened in first 500 of Muslim Hijara.
Brother Paul my only wish is why didn’t you become a Muslim earlier
Seerah and Sunnah should be joined.
Significant changes to the Torah occurred after the Prophet Muhammad (SAAW) was sent. This can be sensed from Quran 5:41-43, especially verse 43, which highlights alteration had taken place likely after that incident for at least one issue:
"But how is it that they come to you for judgment while they have the Torah, in which is the judgment of Allah? Then they turn away, [even] after that; but those are not [in fact] believers" (Quran 5:43).
One possible reason for these alterations, specifically at that time, is that the Jewish community expected the final prophet to be exclusively for them, as they were accustomed to having prophets sent specifically to their nation. This belief is supported by Quran 2:89, which speaks about their rejection of Prophet Muhammad:
"And when there came to them a Book from Allah confirming that which was with them-although before they used to pray for victory against those who disbelieved-but [then] when there came to them that which they recognized, they disbelieved in it; so the curse of Allah will be upon the disbelievers" (Quran 2:89).
In fact, Quran 6:108 instructs Muslims not to insult the deities of other religions, even if they worship idols:
"And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge.
The command is clear: follow the Quran and the Prophet (SAAW) alone, as stated in Quran 7:3:
"Follow, [O mankind], what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other than Him any allies.
Quran 15:9 reassures us that Allah has promised to preserve the Quran:
"Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian" (Quran 15:9).
With Prophet Muhammad PBUH placing Torah on the cushion, could it be that he was telling the Jews, the Torah is their Judge in this case, not him?
Thank you for this - Though I can't see any narration that states Maymunah RA kept a dog, can someone enlighten me?
All these details are known to Muslim scholars and are also documented in various seerah books. The tragedy is the obsession to stay within Bukhari only
Since chatGPT has been mentioned several times, how would chatGPT contribute to Sirah's progress in the future? I am looking forward to the outcome of a new Sirah Book.
AsSalamuWalaikum ❤
We need such deep and interdisciplinary works rather than subjective storytelling
Hi Paul an author named
*Nurit Peled-Elhanan* should make a very interesting guest on you podcast.
How about getting her point of views?
Here we are "When the Sun will rise from the West". The West is on the lead on Islamic studies. SWT assist and inspire you
Also please try non Muslim resources for example monasteries temples and churches
اللهم صلي وسم على سيدنا محمد
Interesting facts indeed.
Is it possible to give us the source of Maymouna's dog?
The Only thing I know about that is the hadith in Muslim about the dog under Maymouna's bed that stopped an angel from entering the house...
Is there anything else ? If so, where ?
Thank you
That proves that this dog was not meant to come inside the house, so it was most likely a stray that used to visit or one normally kept outside. Dogs and images keep Angels away from houses
How can dogs keep angels away? What about angel of death? Makes no sense
@@SKyser-i5k And also The gardian angels...
May Allah bless you all and give you abundant goodness
Abu Talhah reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog, nor an image in a likeness.” Abu Talhah said, “The Prophet means by likeness an image of living souls.”
Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3225, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2106
Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi (authenticity agreed upon) according to Al-Bukhari and Muslim
❤
In Matthew
22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
If jesus was talking about 'workers of lawlessness' what law is he referring to??
why is that relevant?
9:58 referring to the story of Bilaal RD as based on "Hadeeth". Hadeeth must be quoted as
"Prophet pbh said" did the Prophet pbh mentioned this story about Bill RD? Please clarify.
Maymoona Radi Allah ho an hi was not just “a woman” she was the wife of the prophet peace be upon him
ok?
I read Isaac Newton was a believer in the CREATOR OF HEAVENS AND EARTH . However he did not profess it as it would affect his professional standing .
Hi, Where can i follow Dr. Sadeq and the team works?
When we are distracted by nonsense this is what happens to the best of us! What Torah, what "book", which language was it in when only priests had access to it in rolls???????
Can u provide references for the things mentioned like hazrat mamoona crying over her pet dog
The thief believes everyone else is a thief. The genocider believes everyone else is a genocider.
Why we need more information about small details, we already have what we need in the Quran and Hadith.
This data shouldn’t be available to the public and laymen.
Why?
@@JohnSmith-zh2yn because they lack the prerequisite knowledge to be able to sift though it.
@@faeiger9215 wait are these hadiths already in other books
For example at 9:30 the story of the dog المِسْمَارُ has no narration and it simply false
ابن أبي أويس ضعيف جدا وابن معبد لم يسمع من ميمونة
Scholars focused their efforts in authentication on narrations with legal implications. There would be greater laxity on other things.
Are you sure that Maymuuna (umul muminiin) had pet dog?????
I never heard it
The entire Muslim Jewish and Christian world has neglected the most fundamental aspect all prophets had fought for which is the oneness of God and against idol worship and the first commandment out of the 10 commandments too
Due to this negligence one religion of idol worshippers have grown in to a mighty force of 1 billion+
Naturally even the Dajjal himself will arise from them as the leader of these idol worshippers. They are the Hindus of India
They also practice untouchability and caste among themselves that has been mentioned in AlQuran too
Besides Al Quran says these polytheists and Jews will join and fight against Muslims which is already happening in Israel
Muslim scholarship need to focus on the existential threat to Islam and world peace
