Jake Scott should be added to the HOF. 5x ALL-PRO, 5x Pro Bowler, 2x Super Bowl Champion, 3x AFC Champion, Super Bowl MVP, 49 INTs in just 9 NFL seasons (mostly 14 game seasons). He once led the NFL in Punt Return Yardage for a season and Punt Returns for a TD in a season. In his 9 seasons including playoffs, he tallied 90 - YES 90 - total interceptions and fumble recoveries. Scott had more than 2000 return yards in his career.
Luke I couldn't agree more He was one heck of a player. I dont understand why his efforts go unnoticed? I also think Dick Anderson deserves to be in there. Dick Anderson was pretty dagone tough as well and he constantly came up with big plays. The Monday night game against Pittsburgh, the Int TD return in the 71 playoffs against the Colts. Just the fact that they both were a part of 3 Straight Super Bowl appearances should mean something. These people that choose all these modern day players don't realize that these two played on almost every down. They had to be able to play the run as well which reminds me of another memorable Dick Anderson play, I remember the fumble he caused against the Radiers in the 73 playoffs when he put a hit on there running back trying to go over the top on 4th and one. Huge play, yes Both of those guys should be in.

best free safety of his era.... heres the problem: he was a true renegade. think the character, cool hand luke & you've got scott nailed down in re to his legend & relationship w/ the authority of the league. & that included shula who he had such a bitter parting w/ it took 25 years to mend it. He kissed no ones @ss, burned several bridges w/ coaches in both pro & college & was never big on reunions. He doesnt have a lot of friends w/ the press & players association. but anyone being honest knows how great he was. He and anderson are the best safety tandem ever. He was as smart as he was athletic & was nail hard tough too. & loved by the guys he played w/. If there is justice, he will get in the hall. true old schoolers will tell you the real #13 in dolphin legend was scott.

Agree 100%, Jake is still my fave all time Dolphin. He saved our perfect season when Terry Bradshaw had up a head of steam and was running towards the end zone in the '72 AFC championship that would have given them the lead. Jake hit him at about the 5 yard line and stopped him dead in his tracks and gave him a concussion that kept him out of the game for about one quarter...and Bradshaw was a load, probably 220 lbs whereas Jake was probably 190 at the most. He still leads the Dolphins in career interceptions.
I had the good fortune to go to many of those games in the old Orange Bowl, now Marlins Stadium. We just lost Jake Scott, so sad. RIP, Jake, you were the best!
They were a special group of players that bought into Don Shula's and let's not forget Bill Arnsparger system. They just played as a team. I personally think Jake Scott and Dick Anderson should be in. Vern Den Herder was a real steady player who continued to play for a lot of years. Manny Fernandez was really good but maybe just didn't have enough years played overall to get in. Hall of Fame or not any true Dolphins fan will tell you, that we wouldn't have traded any one of those guys for anybody. Together they were special and are still being talked about. By 1972 season came around i was tuned on it every Sunday watching the dolphins win every game. I love the brute action of #39 Larry Csonka and saw them win S.B #7 the" perfect season". In 1985 Chicago Bears' season was broken by Marino and company which i remember and dolphins allowed Walter Peyton to get his rushing record. ( R.I.P.) which dolphins' record stands today . awesome history and im glad to live it

The original #13, Jake Scott, free Safety was hardly unheralded...he would have been a 1st rd pick out of Georgia had he not left a year early and went to the Canadian Football league....it was to the credit of the Dolphins player personnel man (I can't remember his name) who built that team that he got him for almost nothing....make no mistake, the Dolphins D was loaded with talent.
Joe Thomas. Late 60s head of player personnel. The 68 draft was for one team maybe the best in history. He also picked up players who were rejected by other teams (Larry Little by SD. They actually cut him!) Made the trade for Warfield. They gave up a first rounder but totally worth it. Warfield maybe the most underrated receiver ever. And when Shula came in he had the perfect team to instill the work ethic needed to become as great as they were.
So many things have changed, which are easily observed in this video. (1) Great defenses are now a thing of the past in football..Seattle was the last we will ever see because of rules changes. (2) 8 white guys, 2 blacks and a Hispanic on defense...never see that again for sure! (3) AstroTurf is also a thing of the past, thankfully!
You're kidding me, on that interception pick six, it was Curtis Johnson that made that play NOT Dick Anderson. Anderson got the credit, but if it wasn't for Johnson's coverage on Eddie Hinton, that would have been a Baltimore touchdown. Anderson was no where near that play, he just received a 'gimme.' Then he had the nerve to talk about the six blocks instead of Johnson's incredible effort.

curtis johnson was very underrated. a great cover corner and a physical hitter who could prevent outside running. one of the reasons the fin safeties got so many int.'s, aside from being great players, was the seal tight coverage that johnson & foley consistently provided.
