@@avishchand298 moneyball is more about personnel strategy than baseball. There are probably a lot of people who understand baseball just fine that don't get that movie.
Good explanation. One minor point: no one really ever talks about a baseball "match." It's pretty much always called a game. Match is used in cricket, baseball's distant cousin.
What do you call the smaller stages of an inning? The stage from one batter batting until the next one getting ready to bet, including players moving between bases, what's that called? A play? And just the moment from pitching to batting, is there a word for that part of the play?
@TheHadMatters it would be called an at-bat. So if there is 2 players on base, 2 outs in the inning and a run hasn't scored yet then you know that 4 at bats have taken place and whoever is up to bat would be the 5th at-bat. These are also called plate appearances. So if you are watching game and you see a graphic come on screen saying something like "Gavin Lux: 2-4 , Home run, Double" then you know that player has had 4 plate appearances He hit a home run in one of them and reached 2nd base in another, and either struck out or put a ball in play but was out in the other 2. This video does a good job teaching the basics but there's alot more to it so I will list a few more important things to know. A player may run as far along the base path as he wants when he or his teammate puts a ball in play, so he can try to reach second or third after hitting the ball if he thinks he has hit it far enough. A force out (when they can just touch the base) only applies if the runner HAS to run. So a batter has ro run to first so it's a force out, if he decides to run to second it becomes a tag out which means the defender will have to tag him with the ball to get the out. Similarly if a player is on first and his teammate hits the ball he has to run to second and it's a force out. But if he is on second he can choose to stay if he wants and if he runs it would be a tag out for him, but a force out for his teammate who has to run.
As an Australian who had never played baseball and grew up with CRICKET, it was very difficult for me to understand this sport... Wow! That's a bit of emotional comment 😊I am so happy to be a mini assist in you father son relationship! I wish you and your son all the best for your journey! ⚾
I can guarantee he did not get it. Not to say the explanation is bad, I guess, it's just that the game makes no sense to regular people. Like, you play soccer, the objective is clear, and so are the rules - score a goal in the opponent's net, don't be the last friendly player standing near to the friendly goal, no hand play and no hard foul. Those are basically the rules to soccer. Simple and everyone can get it. This, not so much. Also, the formation in soccer, but it's easy to understand.

Thanks for your video. Just a minor correction, the batsman is the cricket player, the batter is the baseball player. You described many situations in the game, and there is a terminology for them. Here are a few eg. when the pitcher tries to get a stationary runner out at 1st, 2nd or 3rd base it's called a pickoff; when the pitcher wants a runner to think he'll attempt a pickoff, and in that way keeps the runner close to his base, it's called 'holding the runner'; if all bases are loaded and the batter hits a homerun, scoring 4 points it's called a grandslam.

It’s a good explanation honestly. There are of course some things which aren’t mentioned, but this covers the majority of baseball scoring and rules. Good video for people who know nothing about baseball.
You already got the rules wrong at only 0:36 into the video. You stated that one team is batting at a time, and one team is fielding at a time and "after an inning the batters will field & fielders will bat" This is absolutely wrong information though. They switch after a ½ inning. That's why there is a top & bottom of an inning. Top being for the visiting team & bottom for the home team. If we're going to talk about the rules, let's at leat get the rules correct. Anything else you want to know about the game of baseball or it's rules just ask and I can tell you the answer 😂😂😂
Thank you for this. My son just started playing and is realizing how many rules this sport has and this is a good way to help reinforce what his coach is teaching.

Baseball is one of the easiest sports I have found to grasp. I like that this video goes into more detail about the rules than other videos. There is a very simplified version on TH-cam by Wiki How and that may help other beginners if they just want to get an idea of the very basics of the game. Then come back to videos like this to get more fine details.

dude thank you for this! a year ago i watched your soccer/football guide to understand the game since i was reading “Ao Ashi” (football manga) at that time, even though the manga does explain how it works, having basic knowledge about it makes the reading experience better for me. Now im currently watching “daiya no ace” a baseball anime so i came back to your channel to look if you had a video for the sport as well and you actually have it! I watched multiple videos on those two sports yet all of them were either lacking or complicated. i didn’t even believe i could understand the sports especially since english is my 3rd language until i watched your videos! It was easy to understand even for a gil like me who’s never been interested in sports. well done👏
Thank you so much for kind words! Your appreciation gets me going. Thank you!
I am in India, watching this video where no one even talk about baseball 😂
Dude same here😂
Bhai humlog team banaye toh World Cup toh jeet hi sakte hain
@@arbabasukalsar4361 pehle football to jeete bhai.
@@nexro_editz7416 200 desh wale sport mein koi chance nahi hai. Baseball is much easier
After 50 years of life I decided to understand Baseball. Slowly 😁
It's never late to learn something new. :)
Only here because of bonsaibros
Men of culture, we meet again!
Only person in the world who was able to explain baseball to me, including my surroundings. Thank you!!! It was frustrating learn from people who where thinking complicated. Thank you for making it accessible and simple. Also message to anyone trying to teach baseball don’t through all your knowledge to show off keep it short and simple!!!!! imagine if someone is teaching you a new language start with alphabet colors not with idioms….same here!!!!
Thank you so much! That comment is so special! We appreciate your sharing! 😊😊😊
When I moved to mexico i watched the local baseball team and I had no clue what was going on so thanks for explaining
Nobita was on my mind the entire time 😂

Thank you. The best video to understand the game in my opinion 👍
I'm watching my first baseball game today with my dad and this was so helpful to refresh my memory, thank you!
After all anime baseball scenes ,I finally learn the rule now
12:33 its a long game
Test cricket - *let me introduce myself*
hahaha
It is so difficult to learn, my subjects are easier then these🤣
I'd previously watched a ton of other videos before this and I must say, your video made the most sense!
It’s a good explanation honestly. There are of course some things which aren’t mentioned, but this covers the majority of baseball scoring and rules. Good video for people who know nothing about baseball.
It’s just like prison
Thank you for the great video and clear explanation. I've been curious for years about how baseball is played, but never found a good video or article that explains it as you did.
Nice video...cleared all my doughts...no need to watch another video after this...
Great video!! I wanted to broaden my knowledge of sports because I know quite a bit about other sports but not much about Baseball. This really helped I appreciate it! Thank you!
Thank you for simplifying baseball in such an engaging way! Your video finally made this cricket fan understand the game's intricacies and strategy. Now I can appreciate baseball in a whole new light. Keep up the excellent work!
I live in where baseball is not a regular sports played nationally. But seeing a lot of baseball highlights videos really put my curiosity on the edge. Thanks for this video, it's really easy to watch and to understand.
Man! this answers all the important questions. Viewer can go from 0 to 95% knowledge with just this one video!!! thank you for creating this!
Haha! Its fun to learn new things!
Btw I am a cricket fan and was always curious to know the difference btw cricket and baseball.. Its like knowing your best friend's sibling.. I don't know if the refrence fits or not but it felt like this to me.. Thank you so much for explaining so well..
Baseball is exactly like cricket yet completely different
Thank you! It's not the easiest to understand but you've done a good job I watched many videos but this is by far the best!
I watched some other videos explaining baseball for beginners but this one is hands down the best. its very well thought out and amazingly designed. very well done. thank you
Thank you so much brother! 😊
Excellent explanation! As a non-American not watching baseball I feel like now having a good idea about the rules.
thanks for effort, its a perfect explanation. but that made me realize that baseball is even weirder sport than i thought
Thank you sir, I have a match tomorow so this helped me a lot
It was complicated but it was a lot of fun to learn after playing i found out you are my hero u made me live one pf the beat lives in baseball and the way you explained it was amazing you made the things stick to my head and never forget thanks you so much

Played baseball my whole life. Not sure if you're american but I watched an american try to explain baseball and your video was 10x better good job.
Thank you I began watching it and it's fun....thank you for going out of your way to ensure its easy to understand.
As a gambler I never bet on any baseball game. I tried a lot to understand the game but it seemed a lot complex. Never thought I will get such a video explaining this complex thing in such a beautiful and easy way. Thanks dude.. You are the best...❤
Thank you for the explanation.
I really appreciate the detailed visuals as guidance because explaining alone makes it confusing.
I didn't think baseball had more intricate rules, as I started having interest in it after reading some comics on it.
Thank you again ^-^
Thank you, this is the best video i've seen explaining the rules, taking the time it needs.
Best baseball explanation I have ever seen! Thank you!
This is the best video about baseball ever. I can see things clearly now.
