Mam, in question 1.2 the dimensions of the length and the width of the ceiling involve x2mm, what is it there for and why is it not used in the calculation?

This type of information will always be given to you in a question paper. Since this question did not specify that you cannot by different lengths we assume that we can buy just what we need.

I thought you'd say 485 divided by 180 ( as I assumed that the 180 would be the length of the wooden board, so therefore I thought it's the length of the interior divided by the length of the wooden board.) But it wasn't so and I would like to understand why that is? 😢

Good day am, at question 1.2, why was the 485 divided by 97 and not 180? isnt the 180 the length and arent we using the same calculation as packaging?
I think it’s used because it fits perfectly into the calculation without decimals, whereas if you used 180 you would’ve gotten a decimal

the calculations are correct. The only error here is the differentiation of the width and length. Length is 485 and width is 180 hence she divided the 485 with 97 and 360 divided by 180. I hope it makes sense

The formula you're giving is for a triangle and not a rectangle.
Ma'm on the last question the fairly lights wouldn't it cost R16 because of the they did not say per m but whatever is in between the 2m will be R16🤔

Oh ok so if I understand correctly, if the shop sells it in 2 metres only for R16 and you only need 1,69m. You must still buy the 2 meter fairy lights

No with area you multiply with area units. So when she divided, she divided with 10 squared ☺️
