It was his end credits music that really sealed the deal with me in regards to his music and the film. I have only seen two other films with his brilliant music; Proof (2004) and Flawless (2007). Why is he not more appreciated? Obviously, he has scored other films, but you probably never hear of them.
I remember the first time I saw this film. I wept deep from within my soul when this movie ended. And I weep to this day, as I do now, each time I see this film. It is worthy of Shakespeare, is all that i can say. Bravo to each and every performer, to every person involved in this masterpiece. TWO thumbs up and thanks for posting this..
The movie was based on at least three scripts that were stolen to make the movie. This last scene was actually a poem at the closing of one of the last acts in one of the scripts, an original play called "As You Might Like It". --So there's the origin of "Shakespeare In Love". Just plain thievery.
As a hairy arsed bloke who weight trains, fights fires and pounds treadmills I can safely say this is my all time favourite film; I’ve worn out 3 DVD’s from watching it so much! It’s simply magical and totally beguiling from start to end ❤
Yes I agree! its so absoloutly beautiful a movie, it moves me deeply, I havent let it move me in years but its caught me tonight, its so artful and moves the soul on such a profound level in a world that can often be functional and average at times or so we create it that way x
I don’t have a personal disdain against “Shakespeare in Love” for winning the Oscar for best picture. It has a wonderful and entertaining story, but the rightful winner definitely was “Saving Private Ryan”
@@franklesher4459 I respectfully disagree. While technically impressive, I found SAVING PRIVATE RYAN to have narrative momentum issues (starts out strong then gradually peter out after that) and I also found it to blatantly tell the viewers to cry at particular scenes too. I would even go as far as to say that I don't think Spielberg deserved the Director win for that either (Peter Weir for THE TRUMAN SHOW would've been my choice). I found SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE to be much more narratively cohesive.
Shakespere in Love is a brilliant film. There are people we love and always shall love, even in death and not together no more, they are those who inspire and love us. 2:33 So sad. The music makes it so emotional and heartbreaking. Although their story ended - the story goes on. I say this as a message of hope to everybody out there. Love, lost and found/eternal and forever/and beyond after the end. Love shall go on forever. Will and Viola = F o r e v e r
Daniel, I love your words here. This ending always makes me think of my first love, who I love to this day and always will. She is my heroine for all time.
The playful pas-de-deux of despair versus inspiration, the subtlety of Viola's gentle head shake in disbelief of Will's childish cynicism, bluntly cutting every idea she puts forth... but her strength as a muse is far too powerful; she has total faith in his gift and even he cannot resist such confidence from the woman he loves: declaring '"... 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴!"' as the delicate strings and minor keys of 'The End' begin to play with trepidation, she says goodbye as he finds himself transported into the story unfolding - one that will preserve his love forever as he makes her immortal.
ALGUIEN TE MIENTE. LA HISTORIA NO ÉS LA MISMA.
The queen had the power to break Viola's unwanted marriage she just chose not to do it or used as an excuse look at what Henry did to break his marriage to his first wife Katherine just so he could marry Anne Boleyn.
if Elizabeth broke the marriage everyone would have questioned her position as Head of the Church of England, as well as questioned her royal authority as most marriages would have to be approved by the monarch
Of course its a movie about the love of the masuline and the feminine, within creation, what a challenge if not the ultimate (and thus how I run from it)

One of the best end credits. Unfortunately not an Oscar quality movie, i.e. 'Saving Private Ryan', which should have won. Side note: Jim Carter and real life wife Imelda Staunton, play the same character. The Nurse, his in the play, hers in the real life. Coincidence? I think not.
One of the most beautiful movie endings ever.
It really is. Marvelous shot.
"You will never age for me, nor fade, nor die" - that's something we lost in the modern world.
É de fazer chorar essa cena.
Not only the best movie ending but the most beautiful music in film.
Verdade. Muito lindo.
Don't care what they say. That was the best film of that year. I left the theatre with a heart full of light
I agree. But to be fair, I did not see the other nominated films.

I don't think you could assemble that range of extraordinary actors for a film today.

Holkham Beach, Norfolk
Lost love we all know that feeling
And she walks across the sands of a beach at low tide in Norfolk, England.
Old Shakey hands had such a violent love for Viola, even as she voyaged to Virginia atop the ocean floor in a gown of velour.
For all we know, Viola could be devoured by cannibals. The point is that she is FREE.
