Reminds me of Edison's "Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration" when talking about designing the methodology to track experimental results and samples. But without that 'blocking and tackling', we don't get to world-changing.
I loved her candid not-politically correct response when given what's become the "women breaking barriers" baton. So real and refreshing. It appears that her predictions of the vaccines neutralizing the variants did not exactly pan out. I have to wonder how the forecasting regarding cancers might also work out similarly. My concern is that people grab at this in their hopefulness without solid facts being known. We all want a cure, but we need to keep our wits about us in respect of the impact of cancer on families.
Glad Dr Kariko so passionately stuck to her guns and didn't allow the naysayers to stop her saving so many lives in this pandemic. So many other women such as Marie Salomea Skłodowska Curie were being denied equal recognition of their hard work and discoveries only because they were women. I hope her breakthrough in developing COVID vaccines translates into finding more cures for cancers, sickle cell anemia and many other diseases that science has not yet been able to conquer.
This is why American is such a great country because the immigration policy brings in all the top elite sciences around the world, American should be proud of the country, no is Racism. and hatred against immigrants, those people studying Ph.D. in the USA and stay, they contribute their knowledge to this country,
