That throne is an ingenious idea, enough space to stand the emperor there and it looks like he's sitting what with his long robes. Much better than most sitting options for those lovely SW figures in the different vehicles.
These sets from Paleetoy are AMAZING!! I’m really impressed with the throne. Like you said, it actually works really well standing up. Thank you for the share, Dave!
Impressive, most impressive ! thanks for taking me back in time to the mid seventies and beyond. I recall spending many a Boxingday applying stickers to the playsets of my sons Xmas presents, DAD why are you washing the parts? to make sure the stickers stay on and they did and are still there. We were lucky in Canada Sears Canada bought over the Palitoy sets and sold them as Sears items. Great Memories and fond times, on a personal note I now look more like Obi Wan Kenobi :o)
Sears had the monopoly on them in the US as well. If I remember correctly, they had the exclusive Cantina playset, and maybe the Falcon Hanger as well. Did you grow up being a Sears kid? My mom bought almost everything from them when I was growing up. Do you remember the huge Sears Christmas Catalog? They were every kid's constant companion as soon as it arrived in the mail.
I know the footage is sped up, but even so, you are fearless when applying those decals. I guess, "He who hesitates, puts his stickers on crooked." lol. I love these retro playsets, and especially the very nice clear plastic display box. That would save a lot of disassembly, dusting, and the wear & tear that comes with it. Thanks for the review.
And 1st place goes to Pallet Toys. While I have liked all of these play sets. This one in my opinion is top notch.I Love the throne design. I will definitely be purchasing one of these. I was thinking while watching this video though. If they had made the bases of all three sets the same as this one in shape. We could sort of like them up together back to back so to speak and made a bit of a complete death star play set. Then the print on the backs could have been like the hallways and obviously the main rooms would be what they are. Maybe something for them to think on in the future. That way you could display them on their own or as a collective set. Either way I love them. My hat goes off to the designer and maker of these. Thank you for the review Dave, and as always thank you for everything you do.
Very nice, he might do well just selling the throne on its own, I hope he does a new version of the Cantina, the original is hard to get and very expensive and Hasbro Pulse one is massive and very expensive, the more basic Cardboard one is more appealing to me.
HasLabs Pulse items are way overpriced. Their newest Marvel pre-order, a 24" Giant-Man is $700 & requires a $195 deposit. But they're not gonna make it unless they get over 10,000 pre-orders. Their previous one was a $750 32" Galactus. Uh, no thanks. I think all toys should come with the label "Ages 40 & up," because kids have been priced out of the toy market. They'll never get to experience playing & collecting toys like we did growing up. Shame.
I’d love to see someone attempt a playset like this taking a hypothetical look at what palitoy could have done with Indiana Jones playsets. Their take on the well of the souls would have been pretty neat
Yeah, the child is a little more "disinterested" than they were on the original boxes. Not a bad thing, the kids on the original boxes were so over-the-top gleeful you'd think they had found Captain Kidd's buried treasure. The subdued look here is more realistic.
McFarlane Toys has the Batcave set from the '66 Batman TV series starring Adam West & Burt Ward. It's not bad at $40. And if you have a 2-level display spot, it can be linked up with the Wayne Manor Study set (also $40), where the head of the statue bust triggers the elevator doors to open. They also have Commissioner Gordon's office and the Villain's Lair (slightly tilted, of course), as well as all of the vehicles & characters featured in the series. I'm staying away because I tend to be a completist, and the wallet's disagreeing with me at the moment.
I'd like to get this for my Vintage Collection display. Namely how amazing it looks and just swap the throne with the Vintage one and it would still work. Probably so much better than an overpriced Hasbro one.
It certainly evokes the cost-cutting aesthetic of Palitoy, but it's not something that I'm a fan of. PersonallyI'd like to see Stan Solo have a go at this.
Great looking set, but I'm surprised that he gets away using the Star Wars and Return of the Jedi branding. Lucasfilm was always sue-happy and The Mouse makes old Lucasfilm look like they were giving their stuff away...
'Ages 40 and up' on the box. Classic 😂

That is fabulous!.....also love the "ages 40 and up" in the box top right corner!😃
The console even shows the Star Wars Futhork language! EPIC!!!
Yes, great idea to have the emperor standing up. Thanks Dave.
You are very welcome

These play sets are a brilliant idea.
These playsets are friggin awesome! 💯😎

Thanks for review, always appreciate your nice videos! Would have loved to have that set as a kid!
Any time!
Amazing display piece. These are all incredible. I wish there was a way to combine them into a half sphere
Great to see playsets like this.

Thanks man. Really kind words and some good ideas. Lee (Paleetoys)
Thank you for sharing Dave 😊
My pleasure!
Didn't know that existed! That's so cool!

I might give it a go. Lee
I had that set when I was little and sold it some years ago. It was like these basic but still lots of fun.

I would have loved this set as a kid
I love how it seems that Vader stabs Lukes head on the box art 😄
"Arrrgggh, my beautiful face!"
I missed that on the 1st viewing, but thanks for spotting it. I had a great laugh at that one.
Maybe if Paleetoy were to recreate the original Palitoy Death Star play set he’d be onto a real winner !!
I’d love to see someone attempt a playset like this taking a hypothetical look at what palitoy could have done with Indiana Jones playsets. Their take on the well of the souls would have been pretty neat
Cheers Dave. Great review, glad you like it. Lee (Paleetoys)
I'd like to see a Kenobi series Laser CheckPoint bunker playset. LCPB for short. If done right it could have a lot of play value and collectability.
But do they make display cases for the display cases? You know...so the display case doesn't get dusty.
"Something, something, something, Dark Side..." If you know, you know. 😀
I wonder If this would fit into the Palitoy Deathstar’s hanger bay?
The one set you could've used the Imperial Dignitary in and you didn't?? 😁
I love your review and your enthusiasm. I have a question regarding the quality. Would you say the place is pretty sturdy?
It's as sturdy as something made from cardboard can be. It's a display piece.
I may need to invest in one
❤ this & the video! Too bad I am out of the collecting game now! But it's still most impressive! 😎👍
Glad you enjoyed
Very cool 😃

That lad is my son, and I can confirm that unless he’s playing with his Ben 10 toys he’s not bothered. Lee (Paleetoys)
Awesome 🤩
Pretty cool.
Do they have the old batman batcave set from 1989?

Hey Dave in your opinion which playset is better? This one or the Jazzwares one?
I like both as they do different things.
Love it
did u repair them all or u still have more?
It certainly evokes the cost-cutting aesthetic of Palitoy, but it's not something that I'm a fan of. PersonallyI'd like to see Stan Solo have a go at this.
any more masters of the universe figures to repair
Wait... Luke is Darth Vader's son??? Way to spoil the movie for us, Paleetoy! :D
Ruined! *shakes fist*
What?? I didn't watch the video yet. Thanks for spoiling the movie GloopTrekker! 😜
Ruined! *shakes fist*

A lot of money for cardboard, stickers and some very thin vac formed plastic 🤔
Awesomeness Star Wars playset 🤩🤩🤩 I want one too please I’ll be sure to keep this in mind from you when I want to fix one up 🦾🦾🦾
