I know nothing about the source material. Considering how rocked I was by this trailer, I'd imagine it would be significantly more impactful to someone who adores the source material.
Yes, I agree! I think they did an amazing job getting people who don't know the book interested in the story, but I think you can see how much we get drawn into it, especially when we see the little gosling (Brightbill) because he plays such a big role in the books. My daughter actually asks if we are going to see Roz's little gosling right before we do in the video; it's just hard to hear her. It will be one of the first book to movie adaptations for my daughter, so it will be interesting to see what she thinks!

I think they probably changed Roz's design because her original one looked a bit too similar to the Iron Giant. Honestly though, I'm not really bothered that much. The fact that we're getting a movie at all is absolutely incredible. Btw, you two are amazing reactors. Keep up the good work! Y'all are highly underrated.
Yes, I agree with you; the original design could have been too close to the Iron Giant for sure, and this design is much more dynamic for all the cool stuff we can see on screen (like the one where she shoots her hand up to the branch? Incredible!). I also think this design allows Roz to convey much more emotion, which is necessary for such a visual medium. I love how her eyes can squint and she reacts with all different colors! I'm not bothered either, I think it's really cool and that the book is one thing and the movie is a different thing but both have the same theme and heart to them if that makes sense. I am so happy we are getting a movie!
Thanks for the encouragement to do more reactions! I have more planned around book bans and ninja things but am very wary of having my kids online, and want to make sure it's something they enjoy doing. My oldest really does enjoy doing videos, so we are talking about ideas to do more together. We for sure will do another reaction when the next trailer comes out, and a vlog of going to see this movie! I appreciate your kind words a lot!

I remember when I was in middle school, I used to have a struggle with reading because I was dyslexic and The Wild Robot was the first ever book I read and actually finished, so seeing this trailer made me really emotional.
I am so happy that you were able to find a book that you felt comfortable reading. Have you seen now they have a certain font that helps dyslexic people read the letters easier? It puts extra weight and thickness on the bottom and sides of the letters so it's less likely that dyslexic people will flip the letters. It's a gamechanger for sure!

i watched the trailer at my class because my teacher loves these books and when my friend told her she gasped like someone was hurt but it was just about the trailer and when we watched it everyone thought it was really cute and sad when brightbill left

I really hope they get this right. I read the book after first seeing the trailer. I'm now re-reading the book right now before I head into the sequels.

I agree! It has the vibes of a classic as a book too. Great themes and characters, a kids story that both kids and parents will enjoy, and it has a timeless quality to it.
I highly recommend you both check out The Wildwood Chronicles, it's basically like the American version of Narnia.
Yes I LOVE this series. The last time I read them I binged all three books in two days (which is A LOT of reading) so I haven't wanted to re-read them in a bit but I do want to read them to my oldest, so maybe this summer! I'm glad you liked them. Awesome stories and art.

the third book was just ok but the first and second were legendary. best books since trumpet of the swan.
We are reading the third now; I agree the first two were awesome. What did you like about Trumpet Of The Swan? I loved it too and could give you some good book recs around great animals/characters!
@@kathyellendavis I loved trumpet of the swan because of the underlying theme: despite any setbacks in life, through learning, effort and love you can go further than anyone could ever imagine. It's also some of the few books that are about father/son relationships and written in such a classic wholesome way. I think when we read a good book, we as parents turn up our narrator voice to 10 and try to hide the cracking in our voice when something emotional happens, haha. Structurally, each chapter is so sophisticated, balanced and well-written, I think trumpet of the swan is E.B. whites best book. We've read everything we can get our hands on, and there aren't enough books between the 1-3 sentence illustrated pages and full on chapter books. I've scanned the web/library for all children's books but all my recommendations would just be the usual classics (although some might need rewording), best sellers on nyt or caldecott medal winners. I liked Remy Lai's Pawcasso which is more like a graphic novel, "I'm sticking with you" by Smriti Halls but honestly, the wild robot and trumpet of the swan are what I would consider masterpieces. We have all the dogman books, Tales of a seventh-grade lizard boy, richard scary books, donaldson, Rhal, everything. Good introductory chapter books set up the bedtime routine for a good solid 2-3 weeks, there just arent enough books out there.. The book I buy all my friends when they have their first child is "A house in the night" by Susan Marie Swanson. That book encapsulates every memory of your parents reading to you at night, while you read it to your child, and is a total reflection of those moments. Cheers from Australia.

Hey don't beat yourself up! I think the first two came out not too far apart, but the third one was a few years later. It's good, we enjoyed it. I wonder if there will be more? I'm betting a movie edition will come out, at least with the movie cover, maybe one with photographs in it too. Happy reading!

The wild robot reminds me of bastion from overwatch. He woke up in a forest and fell in love with the nature.
Yes, that's exactly it! And I think why Roz has such universal appeal. Kids in particular are fascinated by nature, and many don't grow out of it thankfully!

Yup my daughter is staring at the trailer and watching it closely; I love how she focuses her attention on the things she loves. You could tell she was really trying to take it all in!
