    So basically you are saying Mighty Mule sucks and don’t buy it from Tractor supply.
    10-4.
    The fact that Tractor Supply has the gate openers on the shelf next to 15+ separate items sold separately and now your videos confirm what I don’t want. An incomplete kit.
    I don’t want to spend $700-$800 just to go home, un box it get 1/3 of the way into the installation to find out I also need this, this, and this, and also this and this. Then it’s $1,600 and already hating what I’m installing.
    Again thank you!
    Also,
    A solar cell converts sunlight into electricity.
    A solar panel is multiple solar cells connected.
    A solar array is multiple solar panels connected.
    What you have is a small solar panel and not an array.
    Thanks for the videos, i saw the 3 year review video from 2017 and that pretty much sealed my thoughts on Mighty Mule gate openers.

      I still recommended this gate, and people need to know what all it takes to set it up. I looked at getting a different set up and it was almost 4 times the cost.

    You are very generous about mighty mule gate openers. I have been using them for nearly 30 years and the main problem they have is the board. While I do not call them junk, they are a serious problem.

      I have had issues with the board from time to time. One time it was not the boards fault, but the ant nest that was built in the box with it.

    Thanks Eric for sharing, we have two gates into our pastures, one on a service drive and one off our main drive. It would be far easier to get in and out with our mowers, tractor and vehicles.

    Thanks for the follow-up, your original post might be how I found your channel to start with. Unfortunately, we get way too much snow for this kind of gate but still considering a lift bar or something.

    Well you don’t have to get out of the vehicle 🚗 to open & close the gate, good information & thank you.

    I was able to add a bluetooth device to open my MM 571 gate. GarageMate has a phone app and they special-wired the bluetooth receiver to connect to the control board. Now I don't need the little opener device.

    Could you not hook one of the remotes to to an amp/antenna to open it from the house, or find what frequency it used and what tone/data it sends and replicate it? You could figure it out if you spent some time on it i'm sure. ( i know time is a precious commodity though)

      it does well, we make sure to clean off the solar panel to make sure it gets enough of a charge to keep working. The cold and snow do not seem to bother it.

    The price vs years of service is definitely a win

    Hello friend, I bought the same one, I assembled it today and it is extremely slow, you can barely see it moving, could you help me?

    • @FarpointFarms
      @FarpointFarms  ปีที่แล้ว

      check your available battery voltage. These get slow when they run below 12.2 Volts.

    Our 4th one just failed…. They’ve lasted barely 5 years each…

      That's about what they last. Still a good option overall though.

    Steve driveway why on earth would you want an 18 foot gate unless you have a combine coming through?

    What do you recommend for a Retractable "Rolling" Gate System?
    I dont have the room for a "Swinging" Driveway Gate...

    What were both board failures? Moisture intrusion?

      I think one time it might have been ants- The other one I am not sure- The housing stays dry so maybe just age. it is still worth it

    My personal opinion is when you mentioned the gate was already there..could it be this gate weight supercedes the gate opener..? Gates come in different weights..maybe a lighter weight one will work.....at that long length...something is over stressing your panel box...maybe the manufacture never took in the account that older gates may come with a much heavier metal...? This is just my opinion...

    Does your gate make a noise when it opens? Alarm? Is there a way to turn it off?

    • @Monica-oc9cs
      @Monica-oc9cs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a wire you unplug and removes the noise, just to troubleshoot plug back and remove when done. There is many vodeos to show you exactly which one
