    ABOUT VEDANTA
Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions.
    ABOUT US
Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

Meditation doesn't give enlightenment but it gives the ground for enlightenment. These lectures are always good. I really like these lectures. I more believe in practical rather than theories but Swamiji's lectures make my mind clear and I can implement practical more successfully. Thank you.

The whole purpose of meditation is to get enlightenment.. To get merge with god.. Only a true saint or master who already reached to that level can take us there otherwise meditation without guidance will only leads to temporarily relief but if you want to experience God one has to do mediation under the guidance of true master.

This is a beautiful video. I love the early story (7:15) about my own teacher, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. TM and Vedantic teachings have been my lifelong guides in life. Thanks to teachers like Swami Sarvapriyananda for bringing these profound teachings to us.

Because Maharishi's own guru was the Shankaraacaarya of Jyotir MaTha, doesn't that mean the philosophy on the basis of TM was predominantly advaita-vedaanta? -- Greetings from a "retired" (because of inguinal hernias) "Yogic Flyer" from Finland.

🙏 Yes, very helpful and excellent video, thank you! I didn't realize yogic and Vedantic meditations were distinct from each other. July 4th of this year was first day to introduce yogic sunrise meditations into my life by the suggestion, good example, and encouragement of nun from Ramakrishna order (she didn't exactly demonstrate yogic meditation, but that is what I have been continuing every day since July 4th, 2020). It has been quite amazing, and since I don't exactly know what I am doing, this video is very helpful - THANK YOU!! I don't so much like guided meditations, so this is perfect! And the Consciousness drawing was also very helpful as attempt to demonstrate what all those words mean - as conceived through mind of Swamiji 🙏Thank you again 😊
